Even though he was the trigger of everything that came after Choel’s murder
Seriously? "Enraged?" lol
Jong Suk was 12 and mentally ill when what happened, happened. Subsequently, he entered a psychotic, long-term state in which he blocked all memory of what had transpired. It was only as the murders began to take place that he was finally forced to remember what happened. During those years, he was an outstanding police officer and did a lot of good for the community. Exactly what would have been accomplished by exposing him after his tragic death?
A great deal of this series' power derives from the fact that the universe is made of infinite shades of gray, not black and white. Did you even watch the show?
I'm still mad that the female police officer didn't reveal the fact that Jong Suk killed Cheolie and allowed people…

I have a few gripes with this show1. The female detective was useless. She didn't tell anyone about anything.…
I agree the female character was annoying af. The character was there as a mechanism through which much of the backstory/exposition was gradually revealed. However, that shouldn't mean such a character is as badly written (performed?) as this one.
lol...comically, painfully bad. So bad I couldn't look away.
Approximately 1%, at most, of a given population is transgender. So why, in Pinoy gay films and series, is that percentage more like 50%? OK, I exaggerate, but not by much. And nine times our of ten, trans women in Pinoy gay shows have the stereotypically know-it-all, snotty, bitchy sort of personalities we see on display with this show's trans ladies? ugh.
Just watched this dude in The King of Pigs. He is an incredibly gifted actor who pours heart and soul into the roles he plays. So why the hell is his bio so brief?
Hope to see a lot more of him going forward. He's excellent.
Gosh, so much that was great about this series, but it is flawed by so many small plot holes and character behavior-contrivances, as well as by just stupid details like why would a person waiting to assault someone do so by sitting in a car in front of their home at night with the car's parking lights blazing? Why do cops over and over, use lights and siren as though hoping to warn their prey of their approach, even when it's the middle of the night and there is ZERO traffic on the streets? Why did the annoying policewoman keep pulling her gun and then letting the person she was aiming at just walk away? Why does she do whatever she wants, whenever she wants, the entire series long, apparently accountable to no one, even though being yelled at once in a while to stop? Can two mentally ill people really see the same hallucination?
Just a lot of dumb things like that added up to annoy the hell out of me. On the other hand, for most of the show I was pretty enthralled, and couldn't wait to go from ep to ep. It could have benefited from being tightened up into perhaps 8 episodes instead of 12.
What saves The King of Pigs is the excellent acting from the two leads, especially Kim Sung Gyu, who was called upon to go from tightly strung to bat-shit crazy, and HOLD those stages convincingly for extended periods of time. Bravo! The young actors were all great as well. The only exception to this acting excellence is, unfortunately, the lone female primary character, who was simply awful.
OK. Despite its flaws, I'm giving TKOP an 8.5/10 and I recommend it fairly strongly. It would probably make an even better movie than a series, and if I compared this only to other Korean dramas, it would be rated 9.5/10.
Wow. One of many areas in which this series cannot be faulted is the acting. Across the board, from every last kid, to the principal, to Jong Syuk and Kyung Min, all the bullies, everyone except the exceptionally boring female detective, is an excellent actor doing exceptional work. I get that she's the mechanism through which a lot of background and exposition is being revealed, but does she have to be a combination of dull and bothersome?
As the story has progressed and we've seen more and more of Cheolie, I'm stunned at that young actor's talent. Not only does he shine in the moving scenes of dialogue and interaction with his mom and the two friends, but my god, those fight scenes are amazing. He's a little guy up against larger actors, but his hard work and that of the choreographer/fight coordinator makes those scenes utterly believable. Keeps pissing me off though, that Kyung Min and Jong Suk don't at least try to join in on his behalf.
End of episode 6: This is an exceptionally gripping drama, bringing high school/bullying revenge to a whole new level of quality. That doesn't mean it is without flaws, of course. There is FAR too much time spent driving around in cars. The cops put on their red lights and sirens even when there is no traffic to get through, which means they warn the people they're trying to catch of their approach. This has happened repeatedly. Also, there have been a good number of implausible/stupid choices made by characters who, IRL, would never be so absent-minded or dumb. But overall, I find this compelling. I'm binge-watching and I've been eager so far to move from one episode to the next. A few people below have mentioned the uselessness of the female cop character. I don't know about that yet, as I've six more eps to go. However, I just find her, or the actress playing her, to be vaguely annoying. Knock-kneed too. The bullying and high school fight scenes are incredibly convincing and raw. Kudos to the fight coordinator/choreographer and to the actors for their hard work. I haven't seen one fake-looking blow land. However, we have definitely gone beyond the point where it's impossible to believe that full-out brawls and beatings would be tearing a classroom apart, and there is not a teacher or administrator in sight. Windows are breaking, people are screaming, and from the authority figures...crickets. Not credible. What is most frustrating is that every screwed-up detail could have been fixed, with some creative script-writing and direction.
Toki's aquiline beauty is enough reason to watch this show, but I find it interesting in that the writers have managed to combine hyper and mellow, and the result is an original/unique-feeling BL.
It may be the first fluffy-rainbows-and-unicorns BL I've liked. I sure wish they had released all the eps at once though.
Even though the cast is gorgeous, this is too boring and faux-introspective to make it worth watching just for their hotness. I'll just look at their bio photographs and spare myself the pain of actually viewing the episodes.
I can so see what this drama is trying to achieve. I feel they're trying to make it introspective, so us as the…
Hi Jolly. I'm dropping this after #2. I was going to write a bit about why in my own comment, but you've said it here far better than I could have. I get EXACTLY what you mean about Filipino BL "preachiness." They hit you over the head with their moral lessons and pride parade, ra-ra-gay! stuff a few times, and then do it once more just to be sure you got the hint. It's the primary reason I never watch Pinoy BLs unless I inadvertently hear of one being good. That hasn't happened in a very long time. lol
So I'm checking out at #2. And anything that's so bad I drop it automatically gets a 1/10 from me.
Kim Dong Wook is incredibly hot. A talented actor too. Haven't seen anything with him in it in a while, and it's nice to have my eyeballs bathed is his beauty while watching this very good series.
What "political messages"? And by whom? Are you aware it was a historical war and the "Defense of Sihang Warehouse"…
Oh stop it. Just because a film is "based on" an incident that actually took place, does not automatically mean everything in the film is historically accurate. Film-makers invent all kinds of shit to make movies more dramatic/personably-relatable/emotional, and Chinese are notoriously prone to over-wrought propagandizing and story-tweaking when they'd do better to just tell the freaking story and stop with the flag-waving.
I love your comment above about how "we," an alleged, distant relative of some Chinese poo-bah, are deeply offended by this or that. Is that a use of the royal "we?"
yh ppl wierd for that but we have all had crushes on our teachers b4 right😭💀
All your inaccurate, absurd comments on what constitutes "pedophilia" here are solely your opinion and have everything to do with displaying your ignorance.
This "is everything ok...?" schtick is always done to death by people like you who are out of bs to fling around in support of their opinions.
I don't need to ask that question of you, as it's more than clear things are NOT "OK" for you at home. You're obsessed with fantasies about pedophilia to an unhealthy degree.

Are you OK with the following tags listed above?
Mistress Female Lead
Extramarital Affair
Personality change
Infidelity
Seem like spoilers to me. Have you contacted admins to have those tags removed? No? I didn't think so.
My comment remains as is.
