You're welcome! Like you said, there's quiet a lot to be covered but I would prefer if they just get rid of a thing or two. There's a very minor subplot with Kanit's brother as well which I missed sorry.
About the proposal. Yes Kanit had dreamt of being proposed on a plane in the novel as well. He had mentioned it to Toto once vaguely at the start.
there's no break up arc. there are three prominent conflicts coming their way, one mainly because of their financial…
I don't mind. :)
I think if they're going to include all three arcs, the pacing is actually better than the novel. It took 17 chapters for Toto and Kanit to get together, but only 4 chapters to resolve the rest of the conflicts.
Two of the arcs are closely intertwined. Toto never actually becomes a pilot. Instead, he pretends to be one for Kanit's family because they've always been harsh about his life choices. They see him as a disappointment for being gay and "just" a flight attendant, especially compared to his younger brother, who's a doctor with a girlfriend their family approves of. Toto's lie is exposed during a family dinner, and Kanit's family looks down on him. Kanit stands by Toto, takes his hand, and walks out with him.
Later, Toto saves Kanit's father during an accident. His father softens toward him a little, but only on one condition: if Toto manages to save up 3 million, he'll allow him to marry his son. Kanit immediately objects, but Toto accepts the challenge because he wants to make Kanit happy.
There's also another arc where Toto's mother comes back into the picture. Personally, I thought the reconciliation arc was pretty unnecessary, and I kind of wish they'd just skipped it lol.
Anyway, Toto ends up neglecting his health and well-being, which is one of the reasons he and Kanit have a big fight before Kanit leaves for a flight. There's also another major event that happens because of that, but I don't know if I should spoil it lol. It all eventually leads to a happy ending.
The novel readers, can you give me the spoilers? Is there any breakup arc ?
there's no break up arc. there are three prominent conflicts coming their way, one mainly because of their financial or "class" differences. There is a slight rough patch but they never leave eachother :)
I think it has a weak plot, a basic one, not a no-plot show. I’ve been saying the same thing since the first…
If you think this show is NOT a "no-plot" show, be a weak one, then this comment was never meant for you! I clearly mentioned it in the first line itself. Do you see me policing or exaggerating anything? 😠Please try to comprehend who it was directed towards before claiming somehting :)
I really don't understand how some people think this is a no-plot show so far. Yes, it's not groundbreaking or a slow burn, but it has definitely followed a clear storyline up through Episode 6. While I do have some issues with the pacing of certain events, I definitely think it's delivering exactly what it promised- a silly, goofy romantic comedy.
As for the remaining four episodes, as someone who has read the novel, I can only say that, until now, the story has been about "the dog chasing the plane." Going forward, it's going to focus on how "the dog catches up to the plane."
Also a stupid things but who did the casting for the past characters? because that person playing football looked nothing like mond and the actor who played younger toto looked more fit to play a younger Lion ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
some of y'all are not able to take decent character making stupid decisions and hurting eachother I wonder how people percieved a show like burnout syndrome (i personally enjoyed it a lot). anyway, the fact we have so much to say, sides to pick even, tells me the characters aren't weak. We have plenty of things to discuss about them and their actions, which is....a win win!
Okay, here's my take.I like Kanit because of the way his character is written. It has nothing to do with whether…
this is so well said! We love to see flawed characters in media. not everyone can be a green flag. and even if people are, there are moment of weaknesses for everyome. the fact kanit could not bear to hurt veha despite knowing he had quiet literally wrecked his relaironship of years, already tells us a lot about his character. it's just in the spur of the moment, post confrontation with lion, he felt so rejected that he ended up sleeping with toto. it wasn't meant to be romantic. it was heartbreaking to look at from toto's perspective.
saying all that as someone who deeply feels the hurt and unfairness toto is being subjected too. I am enjoying the characters so much so far.
am I missing something, or have we become less open to flawed characters in fiction?
kanit was hurt. being cheated on had left his mind restless, constantly doubting himself. however, toto had been the one to lean in and almost kiss him thrice when kanit was the one who turned him down. kanit being hurt, of course, that doesn't give him the right to hurt someone else. but it at least makes his actions understandable. when he encounters lion again, his barely healed wounds are reopened all over again and he resorts to the one person he knew would never turn him down. toto.
this brings us to the driving force behind kanit going below the belt and throwing the tickets at him. kanit took the rejection to his heart, not realising the damage it would do to toto. however, he does snap back to reality instantly once toto tells him off that he's behaving exactly like lion, someone kanit despised with all his might. does this overwrite his actions being wrong? no. but knowing how he sounded kanit immediately apologises because he didn't mean to do any of it. .
as for toto i feel so incredibly sad for him for giving his all yet being reduced to a rebound. though, i would say he stays because he chooses to, not because he's manipulated into it. he's fully aware that kanit isn't in love with him yet, which is precisely why he refuses to sleep with him at first. he doesn't want to take advantage of someone who's emotionally vulnerable. he only gives in after kanit apologizes, they actually communicate, and he believes kanit's decision is one kanit genuinely wants to make. whether people think toto should have continued saying no is a fair discussion, but I don't think the show portrays his choice as the objectively "correct" one either. It's a flawed decision made by someone who's deeply in love enough to let himself get used. or even deluded himself into believing he geniunely has a chance.
about the NC scene, I think it was raw and messy (some people mentioned the cuts), I didn't notice it even if ironically I do have issues with the continuity of this series and how they patch one scene after another. nevertheless, kanit was desperate and toto wanted to cherish him, even if it's just momentarily which builds up a really messy conflict. I don't think they needed to show any of this in a sweet, romantic light, at least for now. it seemed like a messy decision made by emotionally messy people and it worked well for me. i'm sat for the angst even though this show is unlikely to serve it lol.
just watched ep4 again and I love it so much? the rooftop scene was sort of a parallel to cherry magic ep6 rooftop scene but reversed (karan cries in front of achi but here kanit cries in front of toto) and it's so precious to me. taynew have some weird magic.
It looks like they are trying to give him redemption arc, he is suddenly feeling guilty? It doesn’t make sense…
right? I agree sometimes our past experiences and things that have happened to us might leave scars on our self esteem but it doesn't give us the right to hurt others knowingly! veha was very much aware of the fact that he was seeing a man who already had a boyfriend. even if lion had promised to breakup with Kanit, veha in his conscious mind was engaging with lion physically so i kind of don't understand his lashout. I mean now he's owning up he's wrong and everything but the way he interacted with kanit previously clearly indicates he was cocky that lion would pick him (assuming he knew kanit was the bf)
let's talk about the drama instead of stupid things because both the leads are doing excellent job and by far, ep4 has been my favourite one personally 🥹 tell me what's your stance on Veha at the moment?
I didn't read the book, how is it different in this regard?
In the book, Toto initially refuses to spy on Lion, even when Kanit insists that he would waive Toto's debt in return, because Toto doesn't like meddling in other people's affairs. However, he eventually takes the job. After discovering Lion's infidelity, Toto decides to keep it from Kanit because he doesn't want to be the one to break such painful news to him.
There is also a scene in the book where Toto encourages Lion to confess, but Lion never does. As a result, Toto continues to keep the secret. Later, while Kanit and Toto are out together, Kanit accidentally spots Lion with Veha and is devastated. His trust is completely shattered, especially because Toto never told him about the affair despite knowing about it all along.
Hmmm. I don’t understand why u r disappointed. I’ll explain Toto’s motivation since you can’t see it.…
idk why you're getting defensive when all I said what that I appreciate toto being honest here as compared to the novel 😠Toto not revealing it is a personal choice and I see why he did it from his perspective however, objectively speaking, when you truely care for someone AND on the top of it owe them something as a literal payback, it is not morally correct to hide the cheating.
