Ummmm, the moms probably had relatively easy lives growing up while the kids didn’t (no father) and realized they had to rely on themselves to survive. So that matures kids quickly and struggling to survive will make them smart really fast.

Also depends on how you define romance. If you mean a lot of physical display of affection, then no, there isn’t a lot of kissing and cuddling. If you mean two smart adults attracted to each other with flirtatious, intelligent verbal sparring, then yes there’s a good amount of it. The leads respect each other and understand they each have their own priorities they must deal with, so support one another.
