Title Ashes to Crown Spoiler
I am caught up on the drama. It took me three days to watch ten episodes. Chu Zhao's grandiose promotion to Grand…
Her role as Grand Princess is mainly to ensure her father's army won't pose a threat to the Emperor by creating kinship with them. Yan Fang wants to control the kid more than kill his bloodline on throne. Xiao Xun is more concerned abt killing her. Deng Yi is playing both sides while waiting for the right time to jump ship so none of them are immediate threat to the Emperor. But it is still weird to see them leave Palace just like that.

FL is powerful she's the generals daughter and now the grand princess ML is strong physically
He is illegitimate son and bullied by his own family so not a good standing. After she appointed him as commander of palace guards, he has some power but definitely below her.

ep 3 is completely pissing me off. wdym they blasted a baby's face + address across social media in the most misogynist…
before talking about her privacy rights, lets remember she was the one who posted online to her 600k followers exposing her identity while claiming she was SAed. So obviously they posted her complete video in the same profile. How is this unfair or disproportionate?? this is the most proportionate action. As for prison sentence, they don't tell us long she was sentenced and she also has attempt to murder charge.

end of ep she gets exposed and also goes to prison for different crime. i hoped they included the teacher's suicide…
that's not what they are asking either. they are asking why the girl was not slapped. even if its not spelled out, no crime goes legally unpunished here.

just remembered an elementary school teacher committing suicide in SK due to parents' bullying. this is getting very hard to watch.

Hey, there is no time skip. She confess her feelings but he doesn't react either way and just treats her like always. End of school year, he is moving to US for studies and they left it as her first love

love the ending!! i was bit scared they would go the usual route with a time skip but thank goodness the writer keeps challenging my kdrama brain. Theme of the drama was consistent throughout. Respect.

first scene it's mentioned he was already in prison for killing his sis-in-law. in 2019 DNA tests revealed him…
none of my comment was probability except if Jiwon already knew about 94 arrest. I understand after 12 eps we might miss small moments from early eps but all the above was included in the drama and I cite the episodes. Only unexplained thing is name change but considering they kept the killer identity suspense for 50% of drama we can guess why they included a name change.
Also, this is first drama to cover the Hwaseong murders after the killer was found i n 2019. I feel the writers did a great job by heavily focusing on the victims of crime and victims of faulty investigation.

What was the real reason why Sunyoung chose a new family. Not just to protect the child that she mentioned.Cause…
Exactly. I was shocked that she never once tried to get in contact with him for 30 years. And then shows up for her own selfish reasons. It showed how that evil family turns even good hearted people into selfish. She justified its because she was hospitalised and the child was attached to Si Yeong for one year but babies won't even remember such early age for long time.

Title The Scarecrow Spoiler
first scene it's mentioned he was already in prison for killing his sis-in-law. in 2019 DNA tests revealed him…
He was in prison since 1994.
He cut contact with both Taeju and Jiwon in 1988 around the trial when the innocent guy was convicted. In ep 9, he was in the courtroom and meets Jiwon. He mentions he moved to his wife's town and he doesn't ever want to see Taeju (Jiwon thinks its because of Gibeom's death). Taeju cut contact with everyone after his sister's accident and moved away. So the trio lost contact with each other since 1989.
In 1994, he was arrested for murdering his wife's sister (this happens offscreen and officer Lee mentions to Taeju in ep1 first scene that he was in prison all along and would have been released on parole if they were bit late. Probably Jiwon being journalist could have known about the 94 arrest but that's never explained). He was never a serious suspect for the scarecrow murders and didn't confess voluntarily. Only in 2019, DNA tests matched him for 3 cases and Taeju is brought in to get confession for other cases which had no physical evidence. This is before news breaks to media and Jiwon knows the identity of killer when the public hears in ep 11.

can anyone who knows the real life case tell me how accurate was the ending of this drama?
The serial killer is still in prison for different crime but unfortunately as statue of limitations expired, he could not be tried for any of these cases. As for the wrongfully convicted person, he was found innocent during retrial. The police did not challenge the confession during the retrial and Prosecutors office accepted it was illegal detention, coerced confession and even the forensic report was falsified. the officers were charge sheeted but don't know how it proceeded further.
