Yang Yang isn't a specially skilled and born-talented actor, but he's really hard-working and focused on improving - reason why he's always taking different roles and acting in one project per year. However, I do think his acting for the PTSD was very good. Specially when he attacked his comrade. YY has a very expressive face which usually gives a "too much" feeling in scenes where naturality is required, but works very well for emotional scenes like this one

You must remember that the same sound in mandarin doesnt mean the same writing. Their Feng surnames are actually different characters. "Hei" means "black", "Bai" means "white". This is probably part of the story. We will need to watch to understand
