Title Ashes to Crown
was enjoying till i wasn’t gagged anymore. the story was promising up until it felt like they were forcing “gag moments” between the leads. up until ep 3 there was little to no emotional connection between them which is a little disappointing being how they are almost the perfect bodyguard x royalty trope. lowkey got more chemistry with that one moment when yanfang caught the fl from falling than all the interactions between our two leads had combined so far. i also usually look past logic gaps in historical dramas like these but this show makes it hard. the fl was naive and gullible in her 1st life which caused the downfall of her, her father, her clan, and the realm. after she’s reborn gets this crazyyy upscale where only 3 days after she’s reborn she suddenly knows how to manipulate, bargain, threaten, blackmail, persuade an emporer, calculate, scheme, and is somehow prepared to rule a country? they lost me 😭. i’m not dropping this yet only for the lead actors, but i hope this show picks up soon
