I don’t feel the chemistry either despite all the scenes (and they made an effort!) visually they’re beautiful people but ZYR looks like a kid next to CDL

I get you. I’ll prob finish it but being incredibly frustrated throughout. I just hope it picks up cos right now the scenes are coming across quite lame!

is it only me who finds this very mid? the ‘schemes’ so far are basic with no suspense, it’s like child’s play. I got second hand embarrassment when CZ tried to trap XY. the action scenes look so staged and are filled with so many poses, despite all the blood smearing. as much as I like ZYR, his presence is falling short especially when they try to show him as some cold blooded/skilled fighter. I’m sticking around for ZYR and CDL but I’m frustrated with how they’ve been used. is it just uncreative writing and bad execution??

mixed feelings here. baobao didn’t own her character. her acting had no depth and her expressions were really limited. her and ci sha had zero visual and emotional chemistry. I didn’t buy any of their scenes. they also made guo jing have zero personality. i dunno if it’s a budget issue. but scenes with ouyang feng and huang yaoshi were good - suspect bc of the actors (both delivered). I also didn’t mind this version’s qigong and zhou botong (though no one has ever topped wayne lai’s version for me). the effort then dropped significantly for all other characters. the scene when yang kang parents die was iconic for me but it was so watered down here. and a lot of the action scenes were so lacklustre. very frustrating!!

up to ep29. I just want gu yan to get off my screen. he’s such a twisted man child and I can’t wait to see him hit rock bottom to make all this angst worthwhile. I don’t know what the writer is thinking. all the characters are weird. even though I dislike them, the writer did some justice. Zhou mei’s lines to her mother, LZQ lines to gu yan and HH drawing a line with ZS were satisfying. although I don’t get why they had to build out ZS romance arc. that was never gonna happen. they should’ve just let that one die quietly.

this was disturbing. the amount of physical and emotional abuse throughout was uncomfortable. the ending wasn’t satisfying after all of this

yeh! and it was so cringe when he confessed. the way his character is progressing makes zero sense. i am so emotionally detached while watching him.

There are so many irritating things in this drama. But right now I just can’t stand Gu Yan. He had a gf but pined over the FL which I still don’t understand. The way he acted like a complete kid at the award event was really wtf. Dude. Who do you think you are? argh

I’m only 3 episodes in but I hope LZQ stops her abrasive outbursts. I’ve got nothing against feisty FLs but listening to her go on 5+ lines consecutively with no break and in such a combative tone is really tiring

it’s the same vibe at least for me. though I didn’t watch sword and fairy. I haven’t really followed her after ruyi. I only tried in blossom cos of LXY

it is usually the extra white/pale foundation, pinkish red eye makeup/blush and red lips. similar to ruyi pavilion and in blossom, latter which I ended up dropping. she was different in her earlier works like yunxi palace so yeh you’re right. are you now happy?

so this wasn’t meant to be about who is better than another. I just couldn’t stand JJY’s acting but didnt make any comparison to CDL - CDL was the reason why I even started. and for what it’s worth, she worked for me in glory and legend of heroes~

I meant JJY’s make up is always the same when you compare it to her other work. I also don’t think it’s the same as CDL if you look at the lips

I dunno about solid but from what I saw in the first six eps she failed to lock me in. I also can’t stand her make up. it’s always the same. for me it’s about being able to immerse myself in the character. like they’re not just playing a character - they are the character. if that makes sense. I also appreciate layered and nuanced portrayals too

best in the industry? nah. this was mostly visuals and pretty scenes. but each to their own I guess

I tried watching this for Chen Du Ling but I really couldn’t get past JJY’s acting and the cringe cgi fight scenes. Dropped after six eps and I’m not sure if I’ll ever try again sigh

agree. the kiss scenes were so forced. and they never improved. also it was the first time a drama made me think that blood spitting required practice lol those scenes were a bit awkward
