Too much heartache

The opening scene was eye catching with the storyline picking up as it unfolds until it hits a snag. The major flaw for me was the relationship between the two leads. The typical storyline of "let me sacrifice my happiness for the sake of mankind" while in the meantime their love relationship is nothing but lies, deception, pain and suffering. Cruelty for the sake of protection. This drama left me feeling unhappy and frustrated throughout the whole drama. Adding some blissful moments instead of constant pain and anguish would have been nice. I would not recommend this one unless you're okay with constant turmoil.

BoP was better than I thought

This drama had me coming back for more. He held my attention to the end. The storyline was reformulated but still good. There were so many intertwined stories that came together at the end.

I enjoyed BOP mainly due to He Yu, the ML who was also in "Speed and Love" with Easter Yu. His portrayal of a weak, frail prince due to being poisoned at the age of 4, then transforming into the mysterious hero with top notch fighting skills was thrilling to watch. You can't help but fall in love with him in this role. Another great performance under his belt.

I 'm not a fan of Meng Ziyi, and she did not disappoint. She continued with her same stoic, one-dimensional character just like in "The Untamed" and the other drama she stars in. She needs to be more versatile in her acting. Her love scenes were one of the worse that I have ever seen. Her kisses are like a mannequin, no movement or passion. The ML had to do all the work she just stood there with her head tilted, lips frozen and no emotion. It was like watching someone pour tea.

On a positive note, I have to hand it to Meng in her husband's death scene she really delivered, that had me bawling. The other touching scene was the ML's bodyguard, when he receives the box with the handkerchief. Very touching. Xiao Chang Qing / Prince Xin 5 who knew she carried his dead wife's spirit really played his role as a broken, possessive, obsessed man that did the ultimate sacrifice for her.

There were a lot of male eye candy. like Lai Wei Ming who starred in "Shine on me" in a supporting role. He was also the jilted love interested to the FL. He played that same role in BoP. They should cast him as the lead more; he has the depth and skills to carry it off.

I was so happy they added Special episode 37. I just wished they would have explained how the ML got out of the coffin and why his physician looked like he had one foot in the grave after his 4yr treatment.

Tragedy and loss

I really enjoyed the love story btw the two leads. They supported and cared about each other w/o all the drama. Also, the camaraderie and trust with the soldiers. Ning Yuanzhou was a great leader with his unique fighting skills. I have seen him in other dramas but in this drama he won me over. You really got to know each person and cared about them. The storyline wasn’t the best especially the end that left a big hole in my heart, but the characters were interesting. Like the female assassin, the playboy, the student searching for his master who he was madly in love with etc. It had me glued to the end. Not a rewatch for me it’s to heartbreaking.

Passionate

This is a realistic drama that had all the elements of passion, lust, sex, and relationship dynamics. I enjoyed this drama, especially the chemistry between the two leads, both attractive and played their roles well. The ending hit hard. I'm always hoping for that happy ending but in this situation it was appropriate but still disappointing.

No chemistry!

This drama lost me, especially after the fl drunk scene . Ai Mi is still immature and it shows. They ruined this drama with her as the lead. She filmed this at 17 with love interests with two older men 28 and 30 years old. That's creepy. There was absolutely no chemistry btw the leads and just knowing her age while filming must have had an impact. Who wants to be associated with the word pedophile. There are so many great actresses to choose from why settle with this underage with no real-life adult experience. Bad decision. Minghao also looked like he was not feeling this drama; he looked unenthused in some scenes especially with the FL. I stopped watching this drama, it got worse with each episode.
