i hope someone who's read the novel replies to your comment because i'm also curious! from what little i've seen, it's romeo and juliet style so the basic premise is that our main leads (yu jiuqi and sun xi) dated but then broke up due to a longstanding family feud? i feel like the romance plot has a 破镜重圆 feel to it
