I am not much a veteran in terms of Japanese drama but god did I love this. This drama is all about the feels. If you're hesitating because it's an old one, cast your doubts away. In fact I can affirm that this felt more contemporary to me in its presentation than a lot of modern drama. It's honestly all about the feels and also the acting is superb! Like where do you find dramas like that. Every other drama I watched after this felt plain wrong, and not quite coming up to the gloriousness of this.

The storyline itself, not spectacular as such although in the 1990s it might have been considered as such, being it's first of its kind. But the acting and cast of characters largely make for it, their relationship and the ease of their banter, felt so natural. Im astounded how I didn't watch this sooner.

The romance develops itself in a quite realistic manner, and I think it amply depicts why so many couples in more recent dramas just don't sell it. It definitely had to it an undeniable charm, and I can't wait to have a rewatch.

Also I've since watched a tad of Kimura Takuya's works, but you've got to admit that the boyish charm he depicts in long vacation, really is something to appreciate.

And let's not forget Minami's absolute perfection as female lead, sensible at times but nevertheless so fierce and strong. Even the side characters were so perfect, especially Minami's brother- what an absolute scene-stealer!

Anyways, long story short- watch this!!!

There are literally so many adaptations of this drama, but this still remains a favorite of mine. This was my first drama, and I think if at the time I had rated it, it would probably have scored higher. Present me however, has had my fair share of drama to know as good as the drama is, it however isn't exceptional. You have a gender-bender plot line, music and romance at time chaotic, at time sweet. In terms of gender-bender, it's not the best out there, but still bearable. The music is probably my favorite part of the whole drama, especially the OST and well the romance- I admittedly had a soft spot for the main couple, but again nothing extraordinary.

I liked the banter between the two main characters, funny at times or otherwise completely ridiculous, but it works considering it's literally a story about a nun becoming a rock-star, a male one at that! You may regard this as an over the top teen drama, but I think to me what remains most memorable apart from the music is the cast- not of course always in good ways. They were not the most notable in terms of acting at the time, but the drama did introduce me to a cast of actors, that I would meet again in other dramas, so much so that it biased for a while in terms of my search of drama to watch.

I think you enjoy this the most, when you watch it once, the second watch believe me is never quite as enjoyable as the first one and it's almost impossible not to notice the quite blatant flaws of the drama.

This is my all-time favorite drama. Hands down. The perfection of this, the feels and nostalgia- there’s nothing I could ever hate. It’s the kind of drama you’re eager to rewatch just to be able to experience again that tingling feeling. When the drama ended , I was kind of at a lost as to what else was there to watch. Also the OTP is perfect- I know a lot of people were disappointed but I loved them. The most precious thing about the drama is definitely the dynamic between the characters, the friendship and the whole setting that I think is familiar to many of us. All I know is when I finished the drama, I wanted to go hug all my loved ones because it evoked in me the reminder of what was most important in the end. Anyways I you’re hesitant to start this, don’t be, it’s worth it!
