Enjoyed the watch, but I do find myself agreeing with the people lamenting the tonal shift from season 1. Even…
I also wished for more for Jeok-Bong, something where he could actually develop into a guy who can make it through a fight without bumbling around for most of it. At least give my man some more depth! Lowkey just felt like a standard caricature of an autistic guy with all of his quirks and social ineptitude (I could be wrong, I'm autistic myself so I'm really honed in on that stuff and totally might pick up on something that's just unintentionally reminiscent of the stereotypes), and especially if that's the case, at least give him a few times where his success isn't immediately followed by him stumbling around or saying something out of pocket!!
Enjoyed the watch, but I do find myself agreeing with the people lamenting the tonal shift from season 1. Even with all the injustice and tragedy in this one, the way those themes were explored felt way more shallow, surely in part due to the more direct and slapstick style of comedy they went for. Many of the relationships felt less complex and things seemed like they were just spelled out for us more. It also felt like in the few years between the seasons So Mun had just unlearned all the lessons about relying on others instead of trying to do everything by himself - of course part of the potential reason for this is that the new writer made him super OP and all the other counters way weaker than him, often getting their asses beat in the action scenes until So Mun showed up to save them or at least give a little pep talk. Suddenly it's like damn are you sure you'll survive a visit to the grocery store without this guy holding your hand? Sure you won't slip on a banana peel or something? Speaking of action scenes, imo they relied too much on the new psychokinesis stuff. That made the fights less interesting, with fewer neat choreographies and more dudes standing in place, wiggling their fingers menacingly across the room while their victims float in the air choking... I wish it was more costly to use it, so they'd have to do it more sparingly!
