Thriller Masterpiece
This drama is mind blowing from beginning till the end. I couldn't predict what was happening at all and the fact that they continued to make us doubt the daughter in the father's pov was brilliant (although i kinda went soft for her near ep9-10 lol). It's probably a bit difficult to follow though if you miss any details or fact since everything is connected to each other. It can get abit confusing to be honest but i love a complex thriller.
The constant switch of me hating the daughter and then the dad just shows how well written this drama is. Because you don't know who's truly at fault and you can understand both of their pov as it goes. It keeps viewers on the edge of their seat till the end.
I really enjoyed the directing and cinematography. Especially the music added alot of immersion to tense and suspenseful scenes, it was brilliant. I also enjoyed all the small details of the director, from the dark lighting, the detailing shots as if showing the viewers a clue etc. However, i must say despite finishing the drama, i still have lingering questions that weren't answered so i kinda wish we had some narratives about them or that they didn't left them unanswered till the end. Probably my only complaint about this drama. It leaves you wondering abit about certain scenes.
Acting wise, all the cast delivered. But i especially enjoyed Han Sukkyu and Chae Wonbin's acting, both of them are very phenomenal. This is my first time watching a Han Sukkyu work so i can definitely say he is a well respected veteran actor for a reason, so much subtleness but at the same his acting feels so loud to me. I personally enjoyed his voice acting, especially in emotional scenes it was so good. I'm also very surprised at Chae Wonbin's acting, her small detailed acting are so freaking good. I love how she's emotionless because of the character yet you can interpret so much from her acting, the slight eye twitch and the way she moves when closing the door, you can tell she's annoyed or angry etc. Her being a pretty new actress yet being this good, it excites me to continue watching her future as an actress.
The reason why I gave this a 9 rating is abit influenced by the last episode. I loved it so much. That line when Taesu asked Habin if she really killed her younger brother... I had to give the writer a standing ovation for that scene alone. It is such a meaningful scene for me. Taesu did exactly the opposite of what Habin's mother did. He asked her about it instead of continuing his own suspicion and it was healing to see Habin broke down. It was emotional to see her being believed and trusted for once, especially by her father. She is such a misunderstood daughter, I felt really bad for her. I am really glad that they gave this drama a happy ending and that Habin wasn't a psychotic evil daughter. They closed it perfectly with a warm ending.
