Most of the characters in the show are not in the novel. Just don’t think about the novel, it’s going to give…
thanks! that's good to know cause there's too many unnecessary characters there the show really did a great job

someone rated this 1 because of dudu poor acting skill. did we watch the same drama? dudu is stiff? she portrayed every emotion very well. I don't know about you but i saw in love, betrayed and vengeful emotions. just say you hate dudu, and leave her alone lol. these annoying water army again

most political subplots would be cut down.. only main plot is gonna be taken.. in the novel the amounts of subplots…
novel is too much for me, i'll just wait for the drama. i hope we can see princess and prince ding soon

It’s one of my faves. I watched the drama first before reading the novel, so I already fell in love with drama Cui Jiu’s character. I tried reading the novel, but I had to drop it because I honestly can’t stand novel Cui Jiu 😭 Drama Cui Jiu feels so much more lovable and tolerable to me, and I don’t want the novel version to ruin the impression I already have of him huhu.

I just finished reading the novel, and I actually like it more than the drama adaptation, even though both will always hold a special place in my heart. There are a few original elements from the book that I really wish they had kept in the live-action version. First, I absolutely love He Yan’s bond with He Sui and He Yunsheng because they allowed her to experience what it truly feels like to be loved and to have a real family. I know the garrison recruits and Xiao Jue also gave her love and happiness, but I deeply wanted to see He Yan as a cherished sister and daughter since it's something she always longed for. Additionally, having their daughter, Xiao Yao, in the drama would have made the story even more beautiful by letting us see a glimpse of their married and parenting life.

I also missed the dynamic between Yunsheng and Taotao. Even though they didn't have many scenes in the novel, they were so cute together and felt like a better match than Cheng Lisu and Taotao. That said, I still love Cheng Lisu, and I really wished Physician Lin could have been there with them since he was always the one pushing He Yan and Xiao Jue together. On the bright side, I’m incredibly glad Miss Shen wasn't in the drama because she was so annoying. Lastly, I really hope the drama doesn't villainize Chu Zhao too much, as he simply resigned and left in the original novel without interfering in He Yan and Xiao Jue's wedding.
