Yes2, and could I add, i like to think her as a step mother who is resolved to not abandon again her daughter. She is doing everything she can for her. She has not done this for Eun A but she is determined to not abandon again a daughter. Her choice was evil, but the title includes her also "we are all trying here"
The friendship that ended, but started again was so satisfying. And them being each other's muse was a testament of a relationship that goes way deeeep.
And that kind of longing of the couple. She thinks she is hindering him, and is ready to divorce him. but i want to be oblivious and think that he still wants to be by her side. He knows he needs her. They fell in love but they have changed over the years. They are still longing for the first version of them, and needed time to get to know each other again, in their current selves.

Thinking back, that fueled the spark of difference that bursted to hatred. They are the same, they are each other's muse, they fuel each other and an engine starter, but it was compromised so it backfired hugely.
So yes, they are so alike that is why they are friends. The chasm of difference had separated them. DM taking everything wrong of what GS says. And GS not listening to anything DM says because again, "he is not on his level"

And yes, she has ulterior motives defending her step daughter but i like to interpret it this way: she is trying her best to be a mother to her step-daughter, she made a grave mistake abandoning her bio-daughter and yet, maybe, she had the resolve to never commit the same mistake again, thus defending and being there for her step daughter. She has done it - abandoning, and she will never do it again, even if it means, continuing to abandon her bio daughter, and never coming back to her. She is so evil and unforgiveable, but in jang miran's side, she is a hero who is her mother figure. To the extent of jang miran saying "I will take care of her when she is old."

Another great thing about this drama, is that it made me feel like a genius, but actually it was just the writing. The storytelling made us understand the character so much that I thought as an audience I was great in noticing the details and that I see the characters perspectives easily. But nothing came from me, it was all what the drama has shown us. :)
