one immediate reason is the subbers. the efficiency of getting subtitles is very important for it to be distributed to a wider audience. Jdramas had also been dubbed for so long as "anime-ish" with an exaggerated expression which does not sit well with the majority. And although Japanese culture does not want to stand out among the crowd but Jdramas are not afraid to explore the weird and the uncommon, the one that actually will make commotions (Yakuza, age gap, fetish, weird hairstyle and fashion just so you would know right away who is the main character). These gets mixed with the normal, beautiful ones, but the prejudices are hard to undo. I am grateful for variety in dramaland that each country brings. I enjoy both Jdoramas and Kdramas. And I don't want them to follow any pattern just to be successful in ratings, I want them to focus on what they are good at and evolve from there instead of cutting some doing copy and paste. :D
Sorry for the long reply. I agree this was an awesome series. The songs were beautiful. The experience this brought the audience were surreal. I can just imagine, living in Japan and seeing Bloom perform in real Japanese shows, as if they were a real established group. hehehe.
they fleshed out the ML with the first 4 episodes, we know his beginnings and motivation too well. Now, the writers want us to focus on FL. How did she end up away from the city to do fine dining? What we got so far is that she is an orphan who grew up in the mountains and has a high qualification as a chef (explains the harvesting of mushroom and the gardening/picky about ingredients). She was betrayed by her ex thus becoming cold and untrusting.
the ex showing up was still unnecessary. The preview of FL and ex is just rage bait. hihihihi
ex came by at the 5th episode, FL flat out rejected him, FL and ML had a date, but then the preview for the 6th episode hinted her to be with her ex.. not sure if that was a flashback or in the present.. love triangle is more or less 2 episodes..
the first 4 episodes were a fresh of breath air though. :D will continue this just to see if how they will play out this new plot among the other plot that they have supposed established already... :)
