IDC WHAT YALL SAY. THIS WAS AMAZING.

Like my title says. This was amazing, no matter what yall say. It was real and vulnerable. Lu Qin Yang loves Ling Yi Yao with all of his heart and is willing to do anything and everything for her. He tries to live up to what he wants to provide for her all while dealing with her mom who thinks he isnt worth it. Ling Yi Yao loves Lu Qin Yang despite what her mom thinks and what Qin Yang believes of himself. It was truly beautiful. They both love each other so much they are willing to "suffer" to be with each other.

its worth the watch. its a real, and easy romance w no drama.

first i want to say, this show is DEFINITELY worth the watch.

to address concerns ppl have made, heres my take on them:

~~
lin yiyangs comeback to billiards, why didnt he struggle?
i think thats mainly due to a couple things. 1, he is a supposed genius. learning from a very young age, and competing and winning at a young age. 2. even tho he retired, he still kept up w the sport bc he loves it. he trained daily, owned a billiard room, and if yall forgot, he knew who yin guo was bc he was probably watching games. (in the beginning he had a pic of her playing from a game)
so if he is still knowledgeable, and trained, he wouldnt struggle. billiards is more so like chess, its based on moves from the table. so as long as he can get the results he needs to get points, he wouldnt struggle.

their kinship, ie, the FL shying away from his kinship.
some comments were like shes annoying, its been three years. 1. i think yall forget the age difference. 2. yiyang had no problem in showing PDA, but its obvious yin guo did. 3. in the beginning wouldnt yall be like her? they have been dating for years, but cmon now, theyre not together every single day, i would be shy too. i mean in the end even in her moments, she said she felt shy seeing him bc they were apart for so long. once theyre together when he comes back, i can see how yall would want her to accept more kisses and stuff, but like i said shes not into PDA. after all, her relationship was a secret from her family, she felt odd being physical around their team bc its their team, and hes already ranking, becoming the caption and leader of the club... while shes a rookie. i think she was supposed to genuinely feel shy abt their standings and their age difference. and in the scenes where they were alone, i think its bc shes shy abt where it would lead, bc ngl i got the feeling yiyang wanted to ... whenever he could lol. and it adds some spice to their lives. accepting every single kiss isnt mandatory, and whenever she rejected it, his face gave (to me) "omg i want to kiss her even more" like it couldve been just me but thats the face i saw on him. kinda like a "really? rejecting me? i want to kiss you so bad..."

comparing it to hidden love... weird.
if im being totally honest, these shows are the same. they focus on the main leads romance and relationship over any real problems. and any problems are solved fast, or are due to a misunderstanding thst ends up resolved w no real hesitation. the leads dont have major struggles and for the most part have no toxicity in their relationship. as a long time c drama watcher, these shows are very similar. so its weird that some are comparing it to hidden love and saying its worse than hidden love.

~~
yin guo and yiyang are an unproblematic couple. they both knew they were the one. amd were willing to go through anything together. they supported each other until the end, and gave the other everything they could. whether its just company and support, rankings, advice, love... just whatever they could offer.
this isnt a dramatic love story, not everyone has one. i think yall forget that. not everyone has an opposing family that does whatever they can to stop the relationship, or an ex that wants one back. some relationships are relaxing, simple and easy going like this one. it was real. thats why i liked it. bc if i think abt if this were me, my relationship would probably be like this. no real drama, no opposition, just going through life together. not everyone needs to be separated 10x, going through hell and back to realize they found the one. romance isnt like that. romance can be hard, but romance can be simple. and yiyang said it himself, he would adapt to yin guo. and he did, bc he loved her and he knew she would be his wife one day.

This isn’t Penthouse, so stop comparing…?!?!

I keep seeing reviews about how it’s not as good as Penthouse. And while I get that the writer is the same… who cares. The goal likely wasn’t to recreate Penthouse lol. This drama is really good. I love how we learn new things as the story line progresses. It gives us something to look forward to and allows us the time to create our own thoughts on certain things/events that take place in the show. The acting is amazing! The actress that plays Da Mi was so believable in the beginning and the actor that plays Do Hyeok as well! They were making me tear up and cry. Ra Hee’d actress is so good too bc she pisses me off so much, I almost hate her. There’s not much of an OST in my opinion, but I love when it ends bc the song is catchy lol. Overall, it’s a really good show, with a good plot line, and acting. I think this is definitely a show that most people would want to watch when it’s fully released if you hate “plot holes” or waiting to know what happens. Would give it a 10/10 if this was release entirely, but again I also like the waiting factor lol.

its actually kind of good

i actually really liked it... despite the propaganda feels it had, it was pretty good. although the characters didnt have enough time to develop actual relationships, i think thats also reasonable considering the BAGGAGE they had. the two main leads had a lot of things to deal with from their past so they didnt have the ideal conditions to form a relationship really fast. they also both had their own goals in life, that bc of their past, they were extremely set on achieving. however, they also couldnt deny their feelings which is why their romance was a really slow burn one. i think it was pretty realistic, so if youre going for a typical romance drama this isnt it, this is real.

is it really horrible?

First, I want to say I dont understand the criticism for this show since some of it makes no sense.

Second, the show is overall really good. I think it had a unique plot, unlike a lot of shows. When I started watching I thought the main leads would fake a marriage for whatever reason. So I was surprised when I saw it was revolved around a variety show.

Third, the main leads had chemistry... Were the kiss scenes amazing... no. But they were 100% better than the fish lips, im in pain kiss scenes that were a trend in dramas between 2010 and 2018 I would say. But yeah they also arent the kiss scenes we have now, where the actors are going full in. However, the build and editing reqlly made them 10x better.

Fourth, the characters had really well development, except for Inhyung. I really hated her. She was just SO unlikable it made me mad. I know Jaejoon was horrible to her, relationship and career wise because he was controlling and jealous, but god damn does she need mental help for wanting to commit not once but TWICE. And the second one for pure vengeful reasons.

Jaejoon I already spoke on how toxic he is. I want to say it makes sense why he acted like that. He was hurt that he not only got put on the back burner by his agency, but by the girl he likes. That and also add in the fact that his family sucked too. It makes sense. He was mad at everything and wanted to make someone pay. So of course that would be Joon, the rookie that came and debuted before him and the guy his crush started to like.

Joon, he developed well. But I also think it wasnt much development, but rather showing his true self. Obviously Geunyoung doesnt know him, so as viewers we are seeing him sort of through her POV. I get why he started off as a shit character since he was mad at Jaejoon, hurt by Inhyung and hated his company bc they treated him like a puppet. He put up his Joon, the singer persona for so long that he forgot who he actually was. I think this was also confirmed for me by the fact that he used his bday as his password, and his manager and CEO saw him change, to the point where they wanted to keep him on a tight leash. I also think he became a shit person not onky bc of his persona, but bc he felt alone. His CEO dropped his rookie friends, he didnt know who his dad was, and his mom never answered the phone. Becoming successful and to the point where he was, he hid his actual self and just kept up with his Joon, the artist persona.

Geunyoung, she is like Joon. Not so much as development, but showing who she actually is. She was pissed at the fact that Joon was an asshole behind cameras and away from fans. I think she just expected him to have basic human deceny (like apologizing for his actions, since she does that).

Both Joon and Geunyoung reveal their true selves throughout the show, while changing their perspectives on each other. They both thought the other was rude and shady, but ended up finding out it was actually the opposite.

Geunyoung throwing her shoe at Joon, is problematic, bc that is literally assault. But if it were to have a reason, it wouldnt be only that shes drunk, but the fact that shes tired of everyone treating her like a doormat. Her boss, coworkers and now some celebrity. And they just expected her to smile and move along past the treatment she received.

Of course, like most other shows, the side characters are more entertaining. Probably because they arent a main focus and are just there for comedic relief.

So, its really not bad at all. The plot is solid and the characters too. It was refreshing to see something new. And it made me wonder why I waited so long to watch it.

a good filler show

this drama would be a good filler show if you don’t know what to watch. i watched this as a filler show and by the time i finished i knew exactly what i didn’t want to watch lol… it was okay, except since it’s short it’s all over the place. i really found the characters weird lol. the mls relationship trauma….?? was he a minor?? anyway it’s all over the place, but the scenes between ml and fl were the only thing that had me stay. some of them were kind of hot, and others were very harrassy…

but yeah, this is a filler show at most…

cliche on cliche on cliche

this drama was full of cliches, but even then i thought it was pretty cute. xixi was very cringe though and that made me hate watching sometimes bc i get secondhand embarrassment. sichen was possessive and that weirded me out. zixin pissed me off bc he couldn’t take a hint and it’s like stop trying atp… xiwei was the most annoying bc it’s like girl you are embarrassing yourself like please stoooooop.

this was good in terms of a show and relationship cuteness bc they were a cute couple. but i don’t think id rewatch lol.

Worth the binge

i absolutely loved this drama! it was so cute and it had me giggling, and hiding under the covers all night. the main male lead annoyed me in the beginning bc he was acting rude with the main female lead due to their past, but i love how the plot ended up making him actually realize what he did wrong and realize that he needed to make up for it. he showed great character development in my opinion. and for the main lead, i love the fact that she stood her ground, in her love life and her daily life. the show also adds the silliness of their son quanquan, and the assistant hardy. absolutely recommend this drama. everyone be sleeping on cdramas, but they live up to the romance hype that everyone wants!!!

Lets be realistic here... they were flawed, but within reason

Ill start off by saying, I absolutely loved this drama. It had a great plot, great acting, an amazing OST and even better editing.

There are flaws, as does every show and character. But imo, the overall plot was amazing.

Li Xun, is so arrogant, rude, (hot) and irritating. But thats his character. After having suffered his entire childhood, he became a rebellious asshole. The problem most talk about in thier reviews is his character. While yes he is the typical rude ML, he believes he has every reason to be able to act this way. And I partly think its valid. As a kid who struggled while growing up, he fought for everything he had, while everyone around him didnt. He was different than the rest of the characters in many ways, but this was the most important. While he was smarter than them, the differences in the family status was the most important one.

Zhu Yun, was annoying, not confident, and absolutely a pushover. She let everyone determine her life but herself. Her mom absolutely pissed me off, especially at the end. While others say she blindly ended up following Li Xun, (and I do partly agree) she didnt follow him solely bc she ended up liking him, or felt bad for him or whatever else. I think she was so attached to him because he helped her in so many ways. While her mom tried to control her life, he helped her reclaim it, find her own goals, aspirations and actually LIVE it.

I wont say they arent flawed. But the whole point is that. They are both flawed, but they are making progress together to change and fight for themselves and others.

Jianhong, Miaomiao, (and even Yun) were victims of Xuns university bluntness aka bullying... but ngl I thought they needed it. They were all coddled in life and it showed. They didnt like critisicm, they didnt like feeling inferior, they didnt have an ounce of backbone... Xun is the friend that helps you be able to defend yourself, while supporting you through anything and everything. While most people are focusing solely on the things he did or said, I am focusing on the things it achieved.

Xuns entire problem with Yuns mom was the fact that he saw how entitled she was. And I get Yuns moms concerns... but she also took things too far. I mean, she CONTROLLED her daughters entire life, and Yuns dad let it happen. Xun freed Yun and I believe that wholeheartedly. He helped them all by preparing them for the real world...

But lets not forget Ren Di was the exact same as Li Xun... though she was nicer a lot earlier... they were two peas in a pod. They both were irritated with the BS of the kids that had everything and acted high and mighty because of it.

However, I will say, everything he did had a purpose. While it couldve been selfish/personal reasons, they achieved things for others too. When he was rude to Yun, when he was plotting his revenge, both times, he wasnt rude just to be rude. He was rude so that she could have a reason to hate him and not go after him. They both loved each other, and would do anything to protect each other, and support them in reaching their goals. Even though Xun was rude to Yun, she knew he acted that way for a reason... and both times, it was to protect her by not getting her involved. I mean, even he said it... "Im fine with ruining myself for revenge... but not her." In his eyes he had already lived a shitty life, so he could go back to that and be fine, but she hadnt... and he didnt want her to.

In the end, everyone got what they deserved, happy or not, every character got what they needed.

I FINALLY FOUND IT!!!!

Ive been looking for this for MONTHS. I dont remember how I found out about it but its been on my mind. I finally found it and immediately watched it. What else can I say but AMAZING. The story line had enough drama to keep you hooked. The actors and actresses played their parts so well, even the side characters were amazing. Early 2010s K Movies and Dramas are really IT. It had the right amount of comedy and drama. And the characters had the right amount of dislikable and likeable moments that have you screaming at the screen in annoyance and laughter. AMAZING AND WOULD TOTALLY RECOMMEND. It does have some 🌶🌶🌶 so definitely a movie to watch on your own time.

I WAS BAWLING BY THE END.

The headline says it all. I thought thia movie was amazing. Although it did have some questionable details, it was still good. The ML fell in love with FL. And ofc FL ends up falling in love with ML. What I liked about it though was the fact that he knew he wasnt good for her. He still wanted to be with her, but he wanted to change for her. Cliche... maybe. But I think its cute. I also felt really bad for ML. His life became shitty because of his brothers business mistakes, and he decided to take on the burden. While doing so he remained as positive as possible while doing what he needed to do to protect his family. I think its adorable how even in the end he made sure that his family was taken care of and the ML too.

mature mature mature… not for the simple minded

this movie is definitely mature and nsfw or anywhere near others lol. i actually liked it tho. it made me laugh, but it also made me hide under my blanket out of slight worry. it seemed to me that the main leads problems arose from what happened to his mom when he was a child. overtime as he worked for shizuka he learned how to fix his issues and learned how to make himself and women happy.

the only thing i found strange was sakura… it felt odd knowing that shizuka was her mom and the fact that… well you’ll see. overall, the film was really good. it was cinematically made very well. the characters all had a desire to find a solution to their sex life which would over help their lives. and the cast portrayed them very well.

It couldve been better....

First off, this was ok. I liked the potential of the plot and the acting was amazing. However, I dont think it needed to be 36 episodes long... especially if you take into account that most of it was filler... And I hated the filter they put on it that made them look even paler.

The plot had a good base, but it was executed poorly. It had potential, but it was lost. I mean, Zheng Shuyi got with Shi Yan to get back at her ex and the homewrecker. The ex out of nowhere wants her back, and the homewrecker has some weird hate for her. They couldve spent more time on that rather than the side characters getting into relationships out of nowhere. Miss Homewrecker couldve tried to ruin her career when she realized the ex still liked her. She couldve found out sooner and tried to ruin her relationship with Shi Yan. Or the ex couldve. There were so many options... but what we got was... eh...

I find it crazy that out of every adult in this show, the only one with SOME sense is Shiyue. Like girl knew how to communicate, express her love, and she didnt hold back. Its so odd that a 22-23 year old can do that but not a 25, 27, and 30 year old. AND OLD PARENTS.

Even Yi Yang was better at doing that, and he just saw everything as a competition with Shi Yan!

What I also found odd was the strange plotline of Mr. Guan (Shi Yans friends dad) and Ms. Tang (Shuyis boss)... like why are they a thing? Why is it important enough to be a plot? Because I dont see it.

Another thing I hated was the fact that Shuyi was an idiot. Youre telling me that youre listening to your single friend, who only has flings for relationship advice? WHEN EVERY PIECE OF ADVICE SHE GAVE YOU ENDED UP MAKING THINGS WORSE!!!

And now when its all gone to shit, shes like... "maybe you shouldve confessed sooner..." WHEN SHES THE ONE THAT SAID IT WAS A BAD IDEA. Like oh my god. No hate for the friends relationship history, but cmon now... shes never had a boyfriend... But even if she never did, she wouldnt have been that bad if she gave SOME solid advice.

The only good thing about this show was the cute scenes, the beginning bc at least it was interesting, when Shi Yan and Shuyu found out thr homewrecker was a liar and Shiyue. Overall, the actual plot got lost.

And they patched things up out of nowhere... I was confused... But Ive spent my time watching 32 episodes... so Im going to watch the rest.

Dylan and Bai Lu nailed their characters though, and carried out the show amazingly despite the questionable script.

heartbreaking stories of youth ~ MUST WATCH

this is a must watch show. its heartbreaking, wrenching, dropping, etc.

this show is very unique. ive never seen anything similar, maybe some movies but never shows.

it is beautifully written and directed. watching this is definetely something all drama watchers should do. i would say there arent that many slow or boring parts. each character is struggling or succeeding in one way or the other that the plot is very smooth and keeps you entertained.

~~

luo qiqi is a very sad character. she struggles with issues of finding her selfworth, finding love within her family and friends, and finding a purpose in life. her parents suck honestly. i really hated how they denied how horribly they treated her. and i really disliked not seeing qiqi yelling at them some more bc i wouldve. in the end she overcomes it and finds her purpose. i think with the thought of her grandfather in the back of her mind she succeeded in doing so.

zhang jun, he was a very pitiful character. his family lied about his mom. his dad basically abandoned him and started another family. albeit, he started it when he was grown, but that doesnt change the fact that he was an absentee dad who ended up being a present father to his younger sibling. he struggled with finding a purpose, self worth and the feeling of love like qiqi as well. in the end he started over and tried again. likely with the inspiration from qiqi.

ge xiaofei, another sad character. at first i didnt feel bad for her because she was rude to qiqi for no reason. but then i understood and empathized with her. she had an abusive dad, and a mom with no power. sadly because she ended up following wang zheng around she ended up being gRaped... however im glad she got her justice in the end. not only that but she ended up finding her own happiness and peace.

ma li was a hopeful character. mostly because even though he didnt go to high school, and the factory job through the school program didnt work out. yet he was still able to do what he wanted, which was earn money to support himself and his family. he happily achieved his goal of driving a taxi.

xu xiaobo, another pitiful chatacter. he was robbed of his dreams because of his shit friend, and his family struggles. his moms health affected him because he couldnt safely leave her with anyone. proved by squid losing her and his uncle complaining. its very sad he was unable to go to university. however in the end he found happiness in the opportunities he did have. luckily he is smart as well and can easily study computer science on his own, i wonder if thats what he did.

guan he... i really didnt like her. although i understand the pressures of being an excellent kid and student always, her outburst against qiqi was ugly. she was taking her anger out on her which is a bad trait.

same with squid (jiajie). he was a selfish character who seemed jealous or envious of xiaobo. although its an accident, losing his mom during the college entrance exam... like just stay awake... or lock her in the room she was in. not only that but doing it again the following year. if he had his shit together as a manager at the karaoke place, xiaobo wouldve peacefully still been at school. he was over reliant on him and that was a burden on him.

i love the show because of how each character progresses or digresses. each character had their own setbacks and successes and i loved seeing how they navigated their way through it.

my only sadness w this show is not seeing a breakthough in the relationship between luo qiqi and zhang jun. they were cute. they were soulmates. and maybe they end up together in the special episode... idk.

Amazing in every way imo

Watching this made me bawl. I dont know if its because I can relate to Yi Jae or what but it made me cry.

This drama really was amazing through and through. Showing how rash decisions can be ones greatest regret. While he was justified in wanting to die to end his pain, he was punished for not thinking about the after affects.

As someone who tried the same, this show really made me think about how devastated my own family wouldve been. My parents sacrificed themselves just like Yi Jaes mom. And while my parents are in no way perfect or as nice as Yi Jaes mom, that wouldnt change the fact that my parents wouldve blamed themselves.

A lot of people see an issue with the fact that he was portrayed as selfish and greedy, but in my opinion he wasnt portrayed that way. He got a bunch of shit thrown his way during his life. And because of that he ended up killing himself. But he also blamed other people for his life. Like the man, whose life he wanted, that killed himself on his interview day. Whom in the end, he became him. He died in public, harming those who witnesses his death. Like the girl he accidentally killed when killing himself (my assumption to those sidewalk, covered bodies scenes). He did the same as the man he blamed in ruining his chance at working at Taekang Group.

Life doesnt end up the way we want. But sometimes its still worth living. At some poing we will all end up with some sort of happiness (given one doesnt intervene, like murderers etc).

The whole show is showing the fact that he ignored and took for granted the positives in his life. His mom, his girlfriend and possibly his friends. And solely focused on his wrongs.

While we have the option to do that, it can lead to us harming others. Whether its drastic choices like this or something else.

In the end he learned something from each life. The most notable, the police officer, whom he lived a similar life to. They both lived in fear and were "cowardly". And his mom, as he realized others persevere through all hardships in search of or because of one single happiness source. Each life made him regret his choice.

The ending was a 50/50 for me. Mostly because if its his second life, then wouldnt everyone who he helped end up not happening. The CEO and artist will continue killing. The police officer wont die a hero. The teenager wont stand up for himself, and stop a bully.

But he gets his chance to love what he does have, for however long he has it. Because at the end of the day, he is human and we make choices we regret.
