It astonishes me how little this goes said. I have my faves but I never watch anything blindly, I’ve skipped their works that do not interest me. This is by far Junyoung’s worst project and it is really sad it is the last we will see of him for a long time. He shouldn’t have hopped on another actor’s comeback project and he deserved better than this. I love you Jy’s manager sm but manager nim what were you thinking 🥲

I would add the drama is getting so much attention because of Netflix too. It is a shame because while not the case for every Netflix kdrama (kdrama to be specific because other categories are horrendous and the worst thing to happen to television since birth of TV 😭), other screenplays deserve this attention so much more

I had my hopes pinned on the SML but there goes that..His acting is painful to watch

Men crying in dramas is Very Important to me and it looks to me like Seokang uses teardrops 🫩.. I don’t think he is very expressive. He seems almost unfazed by the breakup

Comic elements feel so out of place as many comments have pointed. The drama isn’t what I thought it’d be, I am dropping ☹️

I think you will be spot on… After watching 3 or 4 or 6 dramas it just gets to a point where I no longer can suspend disbelief that there are men like this in the world the way that they exist in abundance in dramas 😭 It is always the ML who sacrifices and does the heroic thing for love. Like men are humans with egos too. Id never want a man’s whole universe to centre around me

I do understand Mido, I have been in that place as I also prefer to struggle alone. But I am too anxious to just leave my man on the dryer like that because what is even the point then. Mido is insecure but she is also prideful as you said

It isn’t like the comment glazed over his character? It said how he is “perfect to a fault” which becomes clear over the episode. Though it isn’t his fault, his love makes Mido feel pathetic

The drama even has her own mother and brothers take Namgung’s side to reflect poorly on the FL and how she is ‘messy’. I was like what is this family

Uhh why are they making Eunjin’s character so unlikable? 😭 Is it because she feels insecure or guilty. Im bored of these ‘green forest’ unrealistically perfect MLs x lacking FL dramas. Both should be made to be more nuanced and flawed

I know a lot of couples like this where the girl is cranky and the guy is the super attentive one (but not as much as Seokang here) and they're happy but idk

I also dont like the acting so far so much tbh because they really have to NAIL the complexity of the characters I think I will probably like the SML

I think they're doing good job of making the relationship feel lived in. But I Really wish there wasn't a childhood connection 🥲 Unnecessary and feels like a shortcut

Yeah like the writing is so cookie cutter and how they are smushing the boys together too soon it feels forced. They are not taking time to set up the story and characters. So I am completely unconvinced of the 'bond' they are building. I am judging harshly for first two episodes but I am 1000% sure of my gut feeling because I literally found it unwatchable 🥲 I have a lot of complaints about the drama in general I think I already left enough hate comments though lol

I don’t think you understood my comment. I think it is 100% purposefully ambiguous BL or bromance, but I don’t think it is good 🥲 I am annoyed they are doing this for attention and buzz to mask the weak writing. Their relationship development is so trite and cliche and they have no chemistry (Junyoung has had way better bromance chemistry in previous projects). And its not bias against BL genre, though I dont watch it I have heard of well written one like to the star.

Junyoung was miscast 😔 I deserved a dark romance after Kaito and Seongje not this brotherly soft drama with a guy known for doing cringe wooden romcoms I never asked for this 😔

I think the makers of this drama are definitely purposefully trying to appeal to BL fandom. Probably to create buzz again around the actor who is back from military.

I’d say men who are only close friends don’t snooze on each others shoulder.. At least vast majority of straight men in our modern culture. It is closer to the friendship portrayed in dramas like DP nowadays. Now that was good bromance. While this drama has this soft vibe that honestly gives me the ick 🧍🏻‍♀️ It suits Song Kang but NOT my Seongje like nope nope nope nope

Though you know what, where I am from men are pretty affectionate, they can even hold hands platonically without being accused of being gay (though that has started to change because of the influence of American culture). But I don’t think that it is like that in modern Korean society.

This rating for a drama with this quality of writing and directing work is just crazy honestly. MDL ratings really can never be trusted. I really agree with the more detailed 1 star review there already is of this drama : “What initially looks like a story about talent, competition, privilege, and the world of classical music quickly becomes the usual blender of family hierarchies, an authoritarian grandfather, parental debt, loan sharks, humiliation, romance, trauma, and melodrama.”
If you stripped away the star power of Song Kang (that this drama seems mainly meant as his comeback drama, he has done very similar dramas like Navirella), there is nothing to this drama. The writing is so basic, cookie cutter, predictable.
It is not well suited to Junyoung and does not showcase a challenging or new side of his acting. I guess we were really spoiled last year where every casting director carefully handpicked him like a flower 🥲 Junyoung has a very good ability to bring out the dimensionality of his characters but the writing is so weak there is not much for him to do with the character. It feels just like a typecasting. Kang and Junyoung are also just the oddest pairing, Kang’s acting has always felt very wooden to me, like please who thought this was a good idea. There is zero chemistry and the writer smushing them together like dolls without proper development and just throwing a bunch of cliches at us doesn’t change that.
Youth high school bromance… or sky castle 2.0 or whatever.. did we really need another one of these dramas when there are 19383939 of them out there?

Trying to swallow all my negative feelings about this drama I swear but it hurts that this is his last project before enlistment.

Sometimes that is the case with pilot episodes but I don’t get that feeling with this drama. There were just no standout moments and to me it feels there is a glaring fault with the writing.

Script so lacklustre even LJY acting can't save it.. The characters feel so non distinct and generic and the drama setting is so unexciting. Maybe I'm biased too but piano is the most boring musical instrument to me by far, especially piano soloists, and I am basically an exclusive listener of classical music (just mainly Eastern classical music and I prefer the Russians for Western)

I like the actress but it seems like the FL will unfortunately only serve as a 'sidekick' and not be given equal weight and depth to the male leads.. To change things up from how the 2093840493 'tortured piano prodigy' asian dramas/movies out there always go maybe they could've had the girl be the pianist.. I don't know how this brings anything original or new. The only new thing to this story is the forced bromance which already feels weakly developed to me.

Also I felt this from the start, but Song Kang and LJY are such an odd pairing. There is just no natural chemistry at all like with WLGYT, WHC, etc where you felt the chemistry was as natural as them breathing. Acting matters too in chemistry and Kang can't act for his life, and I feel like LJY wasn't given a good character to settle into for once

It had me engaged at first. I liked all the different flavours of Jung Haein we were given and I loved all the taffy village people. But stepping away from it for a few days the FL's overacting especially in the second half really dampened this. And her veneers and pin straight hair in all conditions were super distracting
