To talk about all this we need back to the beginning, XY from start surrounded her self by orphans and pitiful people, who need her, depend on her and never leave her, because of her abandoned issues she feel comfortable only with people like that,and Jing exactly like this (in her eyes) , he someone who commit suicide because of her death, someone who promise her leave everything and be only her 17 his whole life (even of in reality he always fail his promises), but she has that ideal picture of them , also probably because she likes loves him.
When with XL, he opposite of everything she wanted, demon, enemy of her whole family, someone very strong independent, someone who rather die in the battle then switch side and live comfortable life with her (remember how she several time told him that she want he was FBB and stayed by her side and have carefree life) he can do it so easy, just be FFB, but he never will do it, even when he joked with her about run away, he never will do it. So that's why XY hate even single though about loving him, because love him its mean be abounded one day , she can't control him at all, like how she do with her surroundings and Jing.
That's why she told him at the beach she afraid he will be in her heart , but she doesn't want love person like him, but even when he tried kill her cousin several times she never really hates him, she watching him sleep, feel sad when he gone, treasuring their happy memories in the mirror, dreaming about saving him long time ago.
