wow! I thought this was going to be a tear-free finale of cuteness - but I shouldn’t have expected that from Director Dome. I’m going to be honest - I wasn’t that excited for this from the pilot trailer, but this is a complete work of art that I feel will stay in my heart for a very long time!
From episode 1 or 2 I wasn’t sure if I thought Victor was the real villain in this just because he’s played a couple terrifying BL villains over the past few years, but I’m more sure that it’s not just the type casting that’s giving me villainous vibes now.
This isn’t my favourite series of Mix’s but it is 100% his best performance! He has grown so much as an actor - he killed every single scene he’s in I am just not a “second chance romance” fan. JossGawin started out strong for me but I kind of lost interest as it went on. Then I have to say that AouBoom definitely had my favourite storyline - I just love their dynamic in this. A lot of us have talked about how each couple in Girl Rules has the exact same dynamic and I feel EXACTLY the same way about each of them!
I actually am so surprised by how much I like this. I mean does anyone else feel like their chemistry has gotten a lot stronger - they’re adorable! I have to be honest and say that their love story didn’t really work for me in Part 1. I wasn’t really invested and I’ve kind of forgotten everything other than Suea yearning for Nao. I kind of hope they will expand on or re-do some of their uni storyline, but I don’t feel like they will. I just really loved their dynamic here, super playful and natural. My hopes have been raised!!!
okay okay okay okay… I was mourning having to wait another week when the credits started rolling, but then the trailer for episode 5 came on and why does episode 5 look like it’s actually going to KILL ME - like it genuinely looks INCREDIBLE! This drama is already consuming way too much of my time, why does it look like it’s getting even better?!
why after only 2 episodes am I feeling this might be my favourite GL I’ve seen so far! I’m kicking my feet and squealing more than ever before! The chemistry is too good!!!
sooo… I actually loved this so much! As others said this felt like an old shoool jdrama, which I found kind of nostalgic. It was overall cute and sweet, I liked that it was so much about family, I thought they had pretty good chemistry and it had a genuinely good battle at the end. This is like the ultimate comfort film for me! I think I’ll end up rewatching this a bunch!
the director has started working on Make it Right 2026 too now. He probably will be able to finish filming that by the time this hits Q15 with how big the DMD shooting gaps are.
I watched “War of Y” back in the day, but never this and seeing Seng in this role he literally could not be a more different character. It’s crazy! He did one of my favourite performances as a bratty, spoiled, toxic, broken diva in War of Y. He embodied that role and made me hate and route for him. So my brain breaking seeing him here! But I feel as each episode passes I grow more used to the tone and like it more!
So apparently it’s 9 episodes and then there’s a 10th “special episode” that won’t air on tv but will be on all streaming sites. So happy that it’s actually 10 and we don’t suddenly find out it’s actually only 6 - that would be heartbreaking.
For the past 2 years every time I start a DMD series I feel it’s going to be pretty average when I finish the first episode, but then I get to the halfway point and I realise I’m obsessed and I’m probably crying and it is incredible and definitely not average. It’s happened yet again here.
JJ is gone and BOC just doesn’t make series - it’s literally 1 BL a year and when they have better known actors under their mangement of course actors like Fuaiz are going to be relagated to support roles, but I am consistently surprised by Fuaiz’s talent, and he’s sooo young, I want to see him in a proper lead role! DMDs quality is increasing like crazy… they stole Copper, please steal Fuaiz next!!!
I had kinda low expectations from this, but it actually looks really good… that trailer was 10/10 - I don’t think I’m gonna wait to see others thoughts first - I’m gonna jump straight in!
Director Natthanon has done such an incredible with Fourever You Part 2 The Sun from Another Star and Beside the Sky. I know he's come up through the industry working with Director New, but he really outdid News work on Fourever You Part 1. Very excited to see him work with JoongDunk, especially when he's sooo good and conveying the chemistry between pairings in his dramas! And after the DYTD director managed to somehow get rid of JoongDunks chemistry, we deserve a director like this!!!
