I’m sorry, but I was so happy for this to be over! Because I love so many jbls I feel some weird obligation to watch every jdrama BL I come across and this is the first one I’ve not enjoyed! it wasn’t an interesting story, I didn’t love the characters and personally I felt no chemistry between the leads. I was also a little let down MBS’s last BL (Mr Unlucky) but with that one I had a lot more fun, loved the lead and thought there was enough chemistry between the cast that it was a cute, enjoyable watch. I’m really hoping their next BL is back to My Beautiful Man level of good, because that drama proved how great they can be. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Takara kun and Amagi kun!
Why do I like this!? I started the first episode thinking I’d hate it so much I wouldn’t even make it through the first part, but I was completely charmed by it instead! I’ve been in a love/hate relationship with News work for so long now that I’ve just decided he’s not the director for me, but this feels different to and more creative than a lot of his past series, like they opened with a one shot scene…in a BL! Also Santa is so charming! I saw their episode of 7 Project, and I remember he did a good job, but it doesn’t compare to how much I love him in this! He seems to be having so much fun as Cake and he’s fun to watch! And Cake and Eiw have such natural chemistry, they’ve done a great job at establishing their friendship and it’s just too cute! I also just love seeing Peak on my screen - it brings me back to years ago when I watched my first BL (Make it Right) it was terrible, but I still like seeing him pop up in things. anyway I liked this, quite a bit! I don’t know what’s coming - I’m not sure exactly what Eiw or Cake feel about each other yet, but I’m excited to see what’s to come. I don’t know if all this is just because I went in with ridiculously low expectations and I don’t know how long I’ll like this, but for now I’m in…
I was staring at the director character for so long trying to figure out where I knew him from! Then I realised it’s Tee! The real life director of some of the biggest BL series (tharntype/lovely writer) - I love that he’s playing a BL director when he is a BL director - his upcoming BL (I Feel You Linger In The Air) is one of my most anticipated of this year!
one of the best dramas with the best male lead OF ALL TIME. the og male lead is such a different role from anything AHS has ever done before so I’ll be interested to see if they stick with his personality from the OG version or they put a more serious/quiet twist to his character in the Korean version
a supporting character in 3 BLs in one year…so it seems like GMMTV is putting him in with their BL crowd - could that mean he may get his own BL? GMMTV supporting BL actors rarely become straight leads in GMMTV series so I’m hoping they’ll give him a lead BL role!
Once I stopped thinking of this as a fantasy drama with the unique premise of travelling to an alternate universe and started instead thinking of it being about 2 boys trying to make a film and falling in love I started liking it way more! it’s such a frustrating waste of an interesting concept, but I’m finally kinda enjoying it!
I kept sticking with this because I was hoping I’d start to love it, but I’m one episode from the end now and I still don’t. their relationship and Kanedas character just don’t work for me sadly - I guess I knew one day I’d finally find a Japanese BL that I didn’t like and I guess this is it! to people who love this - you’d probably hate some of my favourite BLs, we’re just lucky the BL industry is so big we have so much variety!
I’m not sure how I feel about this yet. I like lighter series but I was prepared for this to be a dark watch, so I wasn’t surprised and I expect it to get quite a lot darker! Although I didn’t expect them to make the leads so unlikeable, yet sympathetic at the same time, which I loved. If it gets too depressing I may have to drop it - that’s nothing against the series, that’s a me issue. But I have to say I haven’t seen any of these actors previous works (other than Talay) so I didn’t know what to expect from any of them and Billy and Sengs chemistry is just insane and effortless! I’m still reeling from it! Almost tempting me to give SCOY a try!
I know it was inevitable that we’d come to the plot of Shin choosing to stay in town for university or go to Tokyo, i think he’ll most definitely go to Tokyo - I just hope we get a time skip or a long distance relationship- just anything that’s not the sad ending of Shin and Akira going their separate ways!
there are several things about this drama that consistently annoy me: I am still wishing we could’ve seen the leads exploring and learning about the new universe together and seeing them slowly grow to understand the people who’s lives their living as well as the friends and family of those people - it’s an alternate universe, but they seem to have adjusted immediately and treat Tun and Tess’s friends like they’ve been friends for years. And I don’t really see the point of it being set in an alternate universe, especially when the world building is so poor, but all that being said - after my expectations were so low due to really disliking ep1 & 2, I actually enjoyed a lot of ep3! I still think their chemistry is lacking, the editing is strange and the direction of the story is annoying, BUT I feel like Sea’s acting finally worked for me in this episode and I finally understand what they’re going for with his character and I really liked the friend group scenes (this could be the second bl series Neo saves just by being the best - I’m looking at you ThonhonChonlatee) I’m looking forward to seeing the group spend more time together and wishing we could see more of Boom (but that’s just because I think Boom is gorgeous hehe) but I did like quite a few of Jimmy and Seas scenes too - they have cute moments - they’ll never be a pillar of GMMTV but I finally think they’re able to lead an easily watchable series.
this is my first ever Japanese BL that I’m really struggling to like - I wish so many things were slightly changed and I think they’d make it a brilliant drama but as it is I’m bored and a bit confused. Naito is very charming, but I do not like the character of Kaneda, I don’t really understand what he thinks is going in on or what he’s feeling. I will watch this till the end though cause I’m convinced at some point I’ll start to love it!
As a BL fan for 6 years now I know that when 2 people fall on top of each other (whether they like or hate each other) they will kiss. How is this the one drama where they are about to kiss and falling on top of each other is what STOPS the kiss. This is breaking all of the BL laws but I am still so in love and obsessed!
weirdly the first 4 episodes didn’t really work for me, up but after episode 5 I’ve become completely hooked - I think it might be better as a binge drama, because I was initially struggling to get through episodes and now I’m struggling to put it dow!
can we please get a season 2 which is ohm and nanons story in our universe!? I know it won’t happen, but IMAGINE!!! Ohm as the rich party boy who for the first time starts trying to find something he’s passionate about in life. Nanon as the super famous actor. They start falling in love not realising they knew each other in their universe. Nanon thinking he’s getting over his long time crush but really his just falling in love with the same person all over again!!! This is the story I want!
I’m surprisingly really quite excited for this and I’m a picky bl watcher. I don’t know why it looks so good to me, but fingers crossed I’m right to be excited about it!
I enjoy parts of the series, but I’m not loving it yet and some bits I find a bit confusing and weird. Also (this might be controversial but personally) I’m not sure if they should’ve cast OhmNanon in this…I love ohm and Nanon separately and together (Bad Buddy is my comfort show) and in my opinion Ohm and Nanon have some of the best on screen chemistry in all of gmmtv. So having them in first 2 episodes was great and they brought so much chemistry to their scenes, but personally I feel that now Jimmy and Sea have taken their place as the leads their chemistry pales in comparison to OhmNanons. I get that they’re a new pairing and so it’ll take time to see their chemistry develop, but that’s why I think their casting was a mistake, I feel like if they cast a less established pairing would make Jimmy and Seas new chemistry less noticeable. And also this is completely a me problem but I found myself looking forward more to Ohm and Nanons scenes than Seas…sorry! I almost want to see Tess and Tuns story before the switch a little more than this one. Also the numerous BL call-outs are fun, but take me out of the drama (so far we’ve had Bad Buddy, Enchanté, 2gether and Sotus). I just was them to make Vice Versa be the best BL and not just them bringing up the fandoms old favourites to make us like it. this sounds way harsher than I meant I just really want to love it and I’m trying to understand why I dont!
