CX wanting power just to protect XY doesn't seem like enough of a motivating factor to me because she already has the protection of the King of Haoling and King of Xiyan. Wow, you have highlighted the relationship parallels between XY/TSJ and Skinny/Tian'er perfectly. That's exactly what their relationship looked like to me; XY is like Tian'er who's gambling on TSJ's love for her but she herself was not really in love with him (not from the start at least). Their love felt a little forced and one-sided in my opinion. Furthermore, I really did't think it was right of TSJ to chain XY down with a 15yrs promise to not give her heart to anyone else while he tried to sort out his mess. I thought that was very selfish and irresponsible of TSJ to ask of any woman!!
