see, that's what happens when a screenwriter picks and chooses what they want and do not want to include from the source material. in the novel, most of their 'relationship' is literally fwb, so it makes sense that zhitao would sleep in the guest room to maintain that distance. here, where they are supposed to be dating, it doesn't make sense.also, in the novel, zhitao is a kicker lol so luan nian would get kicked a lot by her when they slept together lmao

yes, he even hired a private investigator to find her, but after contacting her friends (sun yu, i think), he came to a conclusion that she doesn't want him to find her, so he respected her decision and cancelled the investigator.

tbh a lot of things in their relationship were wrong at the time, but the thing that was her "last straw" was when she believed that he gave her a low score when evaluating her application for becoming a higher ranking employee (i don't remember what they called it exactly lol), resulting in her losing that competition. she assumed he was one of the two people that she knew gave her a low score, and when they talked about it, he didn't correct her (even though we later find out that he gave her a perfect score). and no, he didn't know where she was until years later because she changed her number and her parents number too, so he had no way of contacting her.
