Him being a bad kisser from lack of experience and coming off awkward could be the case. I don't mind the kiss. they definitely don't have to swallow each other whole. I just hope he isn't one of those actors that forces himself to play a gay role when he is secretly disgusted just for the work/fame. I just feel like the actor playing CY is putting his all into it and XS's actor is holding back so for me they never appear as passionate with one another as our CC & WW. Which is honestly a shame bc the second couple's visuals are stunning.

Chi Cheng, Chengyu & Wang Shuo were all drinking together and WS was egging CC & CY to kiss one another. CC & CY were both super drunk and afterwards WS & CC were in bed and drunk CC called CY's name in his sleep and WS (being the insecure little psycho gremlin that he is) just got up and went into the bedroom CY was sleeping alone in, undressed himself and CY and waited for CC to go looking for him the next morning lying in CY's arms. I'm not sure if WS is diagnosed with depression or not but he has a really toxic mindset and it's really twisted. He ruined a 3 year relationship with a man that he's supposedly in love with and is STILL in love with after 7 years just bc he had demons inside his head making him feel insecure about CC & CY's close friendship. He did CC so dirty.
To answer your question as to why CY never told CC that he DIDN'T sleep with WS was bc CY was too drunk and he couldn't remember exactly what happened so he can't be 100% sure if he did or didn't have sex with WS.

In the novel I hated that scene where CC just exploded and beat the crap out of WS's brother for mistreating WS in front of CC. My poor Dabao had to witness the whole thing too. In the novel it felt like so many chapters of the ex being in town bc there was also a storyline that involved ex's brother with Dabao. I really hope the drama will be better bc in the novel there were times I was really frustrated with CC's attitude towards his ex. Like he's still very conflicted and had feelings.
It's so crazy to me that he's in another BL series that's currently on air along with a series that he had also done an adaptation for. Feel so bad for him that when he was starring in Counter Attack the production budget was so low so it never reached the popularity of the current adaptation.
It was fine to wait for new episodes to be released but now I have the fear of the Chinese government doing terrible things to the series/actors involved breathing down my neck. I'm anxious the series will stop airing or the brave actors who were willing to take up these roles get black listed. I was hoping as time passes the Chinese government would ease up on their homophobia but it looks like it's just getting worse. So sad. If they successfully mess with this series then what future investors will be willing to produce content like this and what actors will be willing to risk their careers to star in them. I honestly couldn't believe that this came out of China when it was first released. Not only is it a BL but a pretty graphic one. Granted it's being distributed outside of China but it was still filmed in China with Chinese actors. I really hope they don't suffer any consequences...

you're so right about Counter Attack being a comedy. Reading the novel there are so many scenes where it's just so fantastically ridiculous that you don't know if Chai Jidan is just a really bad writer or she's doing it on purpose. lol
I saw the original adaptation which was ok but pretty confusing and choppy I feel like this version is better…
the original adaptation had a really low budget, but it was still really good for what it could accomplished at that time. i loved the actors in it. they did the best they could with what little they had to work with. of course i'm loving this new adaptation and the actors as well. the higher production quality really helps to flesh out the story and characters a lot more.
no matter how much i'm loving this series so far, i myself also could not get over the implied gang rape of that boy. i couldn't believe what i was seeing. that's so heinous and it's weird just to brush off this evil act by Chi Cheng. ok fine give him a beating you'll be a dick but to orchestrate for those guys to rape him you are now a monster. especially since he knew his dad was behind confiscating his snakes and they'll be taken care of. if that was his true personality then can you imagine what he would do to Wu Suo Wei once he finds out that he tricked him? but of course they made him fluffy now so he would never do anything shady towards WSW. i just have to tell myself it's toxic fiction and not to take it too seriously in onder to barrel through and enjoy what is good about the series.
