The film is very attractive to me thanks to the two Filipino stars. The sympathizer Paolo Rivera plays the unsympathetic role of the criminal, and for me the irresistible Janvier Daily second him. The story was processed with the famous naivety and point of view, a little jumbled, it did not depict the characters' characters very well. What connected the two? Family ties, friendship, affection, love? Of course, I would prefer to imagine these two actors in the same story in a very dramatic European treatment, rough, perhaps Nordic. But let's stay in Asia...

At the age of 83, Eddie Garcia plays the character of René, a scrupulous, thrifty, sometimes rude old man. I have to appreciate that as an actor, because that is the main role. He's an old gay man who hangs out in his coffin and likes Sol, a 56-year-old taxi driver (by God, at least some of us will reach that age, so he'll probably be a 50-year-old "young man" a complete prince for us...). The film is named after his dog, and behind the overall image of this gentleman, the beautiful soul of one person crouches inside. Hence my increased rating...

I didn't know how to grasp the film, the nudity seemed to me in some moments self-serving (or should it be more "artistic"?), some twists naive, but I expected that, we are in Asia after all.

The final third at the court was surprising, I did not expect such a twist in an erotic-philosophical film (it's a strange combination, isn't it?). Maybe when I watch it again sometime, I'll feel more depth from the movie, which there seems to be in it, but I somehow didn't perceive it much this time ...

"Sherwin, I'm your partner..." Paolo tells his love towards the end of the film.

You need to get under the skin of those Pinoy films first, get rid of only your narrow European perspective and take and perceive them as they are. And this one of them is among the comprehensively high-quality ...

Paolo is a young indie film director who would like to marry Sherwin, who is a lawyer and they have been living together for some time. Both will also attend the wedding of Sherwin's younger sister Mary Jane. Of course, I won't reveal how it all turns out, I'll just lament that I fully understand that translators don't flock to Pinoy movies. They are often not good quality copies, or they are not available separately, preferably English subtitles

For this film, even if I don't give the highest rating, I decided to "definitely recommend" to others.

A very tasteful film, in terms of processing, the story (although it was not suitable for me, but interestingly done, how an adult Oat remembers the period around his age of around eleven), the choice of actors is absolutely luxurious for the eye of not only a European.

The acting is also decent, including little Oat, no affected whining, as we are used to in Asian productions. And finally, the topic of the "draw" was already familiar to me, I had already seen the documentary Draft Day by the same director presented here before ...

Another Pinoy movie, this time as the narration and memories of an older man. And also about the "fairy". A low-budget film where I had to look for that "something", but I found it gradually. In any case, he is typically Filipino, often incomprehensible to others or at least happy to give a low rating. But I can take these pictures, even if they are usually of lower technical quality than copies, and I understand why the creators shot it like that and like that, and with my colleague monvim when working on the translation and correction (Czech), I also perceive details that are not visible after one viewing and two nominations at the 2008 film festivals indicate that the picture does not belong in the trash can.

DongHwa's sensitive review on gaytitulky.info made me want to watch the movie, and I don't regret it. The Taiwanese have shown that they can spin stories of beings who like the same sex, and in other ways. Yes, it can be confusing story-wise at first, but it all works out. Not everyone is so perfect and smart that in their old age they would behave the same as when they were young and old. Love for one being almost made him lose his mind and the actor KIng was rightly nominated for the best actor at the Golden Bell Awards 2011. The music complemented the story nicely. Even those who do not understand what the creators wanted to convey can be old and unjudgmental. Namely, that humans are imperfect, they are not gods, and that's what Chao Hsueh-Ping's character showed...

Paolo Rivero in movies 10-15 years ago, that's my big weakness. Moreover, here in a movie that is not subpar at all compared to a bunch of same old Pinoy movies where men like men. Unlucky in love, Raymund (Paolo) seeks relief in occasional one-night stands. His sister goes to Hong Kong for a few weeks and entrusts him with the care of her son Zach (Renz Valerio played it flawlessly). At a get-together party, Raymund meets Tim (Douglas Robinson, also from Symposium) and their love ignites... But how to combine the love of two men who have never experienced it, in addition, when his nephew Zach is also at home? Nicely acted, enjoyable and Pinoy movies also include such stupid things that I can see, for example, Raymund urinating in the toilet bowl over a folded board (seat) or wiping the floor in only one place, but that's just Pinoy and somehow horrified by it I'm not ...

A deep and visceral film with four nominations at the Star Awards for Movies 2008 for those who don't mind the Pinoy style of narration and processing, the film is not a typical Pinoy piece in my opinion. It has a relatively decent plot, there is not so much naivety and Asian theatricality in it, and the music is excellent. It is only where it is needed and underlines the scene perfectly, rightly the music received one of the nominations. It is from a life, a rough life, two childhood friends. Of course, the Filipino view and perception of prostitution and sex cannot be missed, when gay Enzo, after leaving for Manila, starts making a living from hetero porn, while his childhood friend, heterosexual Maynard, makes a living as a gay prostitute and callboy. Both actors Ken Escudero (Enzo or Lorenzo) and Will Sandejas (Maynard or Adong, he appears here on GT and in the movie Santuaryo, and also in the movies Paupahan and Kumpisal, which we don't even have here on GT yet) are very pleasant, characters, which they play, they managed very well and the character Melang (Ashley Silverio) is also important to the plot. Enzo's mother Norma (Sylvia Sanchez) impressed me with her excellent acting. Enjoyable and I recommend it even to those who don't like Pinoy movies. On MDL under the name Unspoken Passion - here the film is not completely completed (cast)

When I found out that Filipino stars Emilio Garcia, Marco Morales and Paolo Rivero are playing supporting roles, I didn't hesitate for a second. The Philippines is special in itself, surrounded on all sides by other religions, customs, names, and it is also special in filmmaking, indigestible for many Europeans. The understanding of eroticism and sex and the view of it is completely different. The film certainly does not belong to the top of Filipino production, because I am generally very interested in Pinoy films, however, looking at the film through Filipino eyes, it caught my attention, even if some moments seemed rather funny instead of dramatic, and I recommend the film only to a small group of viewers who understand the mentality and creation of this country

An eye-catching Japanese film, winner and nominee at several film festivals, in which we see the range in which the Japanese are capable of shooting. Once sultry, renunciation, heartless and here completely different. I didn't mind anything about the picture, on the contrary, the camera, the processing and the story itself. Everything has already been written, I'll just add that I was completely captivated by his likeable appearance of forty-year-old Suzuki Ryohei (Kosuke), who played his role perfectly, and the character and actress of the mother appealed to me a lot. A beautiful Japanese piece about life, love, responsibility...

A pleasant Filipino comedy with a slightly less realistic story at the end made me happy, mainly because of the fine exaggeration and above all the very good acting performances of Ron (Albert Martinez) and Nick (Erik Quizon, one of the two directors of this film), which mainly make the film funny .

I do not recommend this older pinoy feel good movie to those who are eternally pessimistic, bitter and look for only faults and deep stories in every picture ...

I have somewhat mixed reactions to this film. On the one hand, beautiful actors, naked bodies as it usually is in the Philippines (warm, hot, stuffy almost all year round, unless there is a monsoon or typhoon), the story is almost like from a red library (or a pink film library?). The music was also beautiful in the second part (as if I had already heard some passages). It was all good, including the fact that in the end Raffy also achieved his desire to get an education (you know, except for the Czech Republic and a few other countries, education has to be paid hard everywhere else).

But I was bothered by the illogicality of some small details of the story, which in the end didn't even have to be there, the naivety that I expect in Asian (Pinoy movies) was a bit too much for my taste here (adult Marco drowning again and Raffy saving him again), some strangeness in Marco's behavior.

But overall, a nice fairy tale with male beauty and an awareness of how simple people live in this island kingdom and a good feeling that on gaytitulky.info we can have more complex and comprehensive information about some films than on IMDb itself.

Beautiful actor Metha Chularp – KAENG

The story of the movie is strong, it stars the beautiful actor Metha Chularp – Kaeng. But everything else falters behind the story.

The film begins rather superficially, without much depth. I didn't like the division into chapters, because it was more like crushing it into dozens of different pictures and images.

And the music, at the beginning it was so-so, but when the motif was repeated for about the thirtieth time, it started to bother me, especially in the last third of the film, when the carousel carousel did not fit the plot at all (the dying Kaeng), the horror, and after quite a long time I give the music a low rating and it didn't affect me either that I quite like Asian movies...

Very nice ...

I'm not surprised that this Hong Kong film has been awarded so many times at many festivals including Sundance and Cannes.
I still think about the story, how it was tastefully set since it was filmed more than a decade back in Beijing, with how sensitive the story was to the development of Chinese society at the time, but at the same time so intimate and without pomp, with very good processing and acting, when the older man from the central pair, the bigger symposus slowly became a phenomenon for me (Chen Handong), as the main character (Lan Yu) ...

I think that the Chinese themselves would not have been able to film such a point of view of their society at that time, but they were lucky in that in the year the film was made, the "returned" capitalist Hong Kong contributed to it with its freer perspective. Very nice.
