I agree partly. I used to be shipping YaoLiu and YaoJing at the end of s1. Until a third into s2, I even admired Jing for letting XY have freedom of choice with FFB. When JingYe questioned why XL and the chenrong army continued fighting, Jing could understand it was their loyalty.
However, since XY returned from QingShui Zhen, they made his character nosedive. S2 rewrote the story and took out so many scenes from each character. It was almost like halfway, they did not have enough runway for the story and made a fast exit. Maybe it was to make things fair across the characters, but Jing didnt have much going on already so he didnt survive further cuts. They still could have given us a better fight with Hou or added something new like he suspected CX/XingYues attempted murder to highlight his smartness. I felt nothing for XY and Jings romance in s2, unlike s1.
I will just blame bad script writing because this was just how his character was presented to us. There was very little done in making him look good so he was overshadowed by XL.
I really like DW since watching Til The End of The Moon and really looking forward to him in Rosy Clouds and XianTaiYouShu.
