I finished it last night. Cried ugly at the XL dying scene but the last few episodes just didn't flow. In fact the whole of s2 didn't. It was very draggy, lots of cut scenes and then throwing the audience off by jumping around. It also became very one sided of XL at the end because they toned down XY's reaction to keep her "faithful" while he was drinking and weeping. Sigh.. it felt OOC for me. The other gripe I have is of course CX's dream arc. I remember many years ago when I was a kid, my teacher told us NEVER to end a story with "and it was all a dream..."! It is a lazy shortcut to get out of the situation. I know it did help to clean up CX and shorten the story. Overall it wasn't too badly done but I really wanted my crazy CX!!!๐ญ I was pleasantly surprised by his confession to XY and I'm glad they managed to do it without XY turning away in disgust. I could feel CXs constant attempt to restrain his love in S2. It was ZWY's time to shine and he nailed it.
YangZi was amazing in potraying grief and crazed anger! But for me, there was too much of it, in too little time. Her scenes with her mum, TSJs death, her wedding and CXs confession and taking poison were all done in that few episodes. I was fast forwarding thoughout (except the one where she confronted and attacked CX) because there was too much crying to take in at once. Her happy scenes with TSJ didn't do anything for me, when in S1, I was badly shipping WXL and YSQ. ๐ญ Their final scenes appear really bland to me and I didn't like XY as much in s2.
They could have also given TSJ more story or lines. Instead, we were robbed of his fight with Hou and most of the time they made him stand around and smile. I thought they could have also added more struggle and longing for XY in his escape from the sea. He is XY's final partner for goodness sake!
Then it comes to XL, my favourite character. His scenes with XY were major highlights of the show for me but again, I felt they overdid on his character in s2. I didnt know he was so mopey and lovelorn. ๐คฃ Nevertheless, XL's death did get me crying. I don't think there was a more suitable ending for him than to die fighting. TJCs acting stole the show. He's the only one the director spent so much time on close up and non dialogue such as FFB's minute-long walk in silence in s1.
S2 /the later part of LYF is agreeably not as good as the front in terms of script and editting. I am just very relieved to get closure after a year. It has shown us the acting skills of ZWY, YZ and TJC and I think they have really pushed up the standards and expectations of period dramas.
watching ru shou wearing xiyan courtโs attire (brown) seems very awkward. he suited more of haoling courtโs…
Exactly! CX should get rid of their brown uniforms. The costumes were beautiful in the whole show, except for the court officials. Even FL and Lirong Chang looked awful in them. ๐คฃ
Yeah, the other camp can be very intense. Either they ignore you, attack you or support your statement with ๐ฉทwith…
Some of then are so intense that i wonder if they are talking about the same show. Its like their interpretation is so twisted. ๐ or they are just saying it on purpose
Thanks girl.. ๐๐

I prefer the effort they put in YSQ and WXL. XY definitely regressed and I no longer see the FL I admired in s1.
I really didnt search for this video. It popped up. My phone is spying on me.
