Well it happens all the time. The cdrama A Love So Beautiful released in 2017 and had a kdrama adaptation in 2020. There's even a Thai adaptation coming soon! Also Boys Over Flowers had a bunch of remakes released just a couple years apart from each other.

Probably because the novel is way more popular. HL and WIFTY are both written by the same author, but HL also has a manhua adaptation, which adds to its popularity.
