I had low expectations despite being a fan…

I went into this with pretty LOW expectations, even though I'm an HMH fan. I think the trailers just didn't do much for me, even though I was looking forward to his action scenes. So imagine my surprise when I finally watched the first episode... I was like, WOW. That has to be the best opening episodes I've ever seen in a chinese drama. I wanted to cry because it was so good. And somehow, it just kept getting better and better.

Grand Finale Review:

I CRIED!!!! It was so damn beautiful. From the last 4 episodes up to grand finale, I just couldn’t help but cry. Let me tell you this, I’ve never seen such a satisfying finale in chinese drama until KTTPh. Actually, even from a kdrama. I just know KTTPH’s finale is an ending that I will always remember.

It wasn’t until episode 26 that I realized what ending I really wanted for Wuyi, who deserved the world. And then episode 28 came, and I was so happy that he got that ending. For me, this ending was fitting. Xie Jiayu once said, “you had such a hard, tiring life. I won’t blame you for wanting to rest early.” This broke my heart into pieces because girl, I agree. XWY started fighting in war since he was a little kid instead of crushing on another little girl or playing with other kids like we all did. He was tired. He was so so tired, and for a few days, I was so mad at myself for even wanting him to just take the throne and defeat Limao. When he returned the life saving pill to Jiayu in secret, my heart broke. He was ready to die for his country. No matter how much he loved Jiayu, in the end he still chose to protect his country than chase his own happiness. Until the end, Xiao Wuyi’s goal remained consistent. From episode 1 until his last battle, he fought for peace. For me, he wasn’t a fool. He was a hero. A true hero who never asked for anything in return. Xiao Wuyi deserved better, and in the end, he got it. ❤️ The sword, the ribbon, the drumming… they were all so meaningful and put together so well to create the most beautiful ending. Even better than I imagined.

And then there’s Xie Jiayu… though young, I found her to be the most mature FL that I have ever watched in a long time. She was understanding, smart, and she saw right through Wuyi… she knew what he wanted. She wasn’t selfish. She never stopped him from going to war. She supported him in her own ways instead, and believed he would return to her safe. She said she wanted to walk the same path as him, together, until the end, and she kept that promise.

I wanna add the difference between Jiayu’s old feelings for Mao vs her feelings for Wuyi. She started questioning her feelings for Mao because she could never tell what he truly wanted, Mao only did whatever she wanted. He followed her blindly. But Wuyi, oh Wuyi. She knew what WUYI wanted. Sure, Wuyi wanted her… but more than that, he wanted peace in their country, and not once did he waver. And Jiayu understood him, believed in him, loved him for all that he is. For all that he believed in. She stayed by his side, and promised to join him in life and death. The thought of it is so sad and beautiful at the same time. What am I gonna do now?


Xiao Wuyi and Xie Jiayu, my heart cries for you. And I am crying while typing this.

The script overall was beautiful. There were so many lessons to learn. So many memorable lines. I learned a lot, and I’m sure Wuyi and Jiayu also learned a lot from each other 💔


Yes, the politics regarding war can get complicated, but I don’t think it’s the drama’s fault this time. It’s because I don’t follow politics or war news in real life, so I have no idea how war or even politics works. But for the most part, I understood this drama’s politics. And I understand why there had to be sacrifices in the end. Generals, emperors, commanders, even presidents of today’s era all have to make tough decisions for the greater good. And not everyone is going to like it, but that’s just reality. Because being a soldier is more than just courage. It’s sacrificing yourself for something greater than yourself.

One thing I want to clear with everyone: Since Xiao Wuyi lost his memories, he also lost his martial arts skills for ‘now’. Yizhi did mention that Wuyi just woke up three months ago, and he made him wear a mask to protect him from possible spies at least until Wuyi can remember everything and be able to protect himself. That means Wuyi can still relearn his martial arts, as soon as he is healed enough to start moving again. And for me that’s all I need to not hate Limao anymore. In the end, though he became emperor, he was a lonely one.

A surprising drama…

When I first watched this, I had no idea who the actors were. I just clicked it because it was New Year and I was home and had nothing to do. Before that, I did debate because I had never watched Xianxia dramas before. I never liked how fantasy looked when it comes to chinese drama, but oh wow. Going in without expectations was the best thing that ever happened to me. At first, I only loved Lu Yuxiao’s role, Ming Yi. I wanted to know what she would do and what Hou Minghao’s Ji Bozai would do once he found out about her secret identity. The more I watched the more intrigued I became of Ji Bozai and kept watching til the end because of their unique acting, the angst, the comedy, the music (which I didn’t expect that my fave song was actually sung by jbz himself) and the chemistry. I have to admit though… Ming Yi did stress me out halfway. I kept shouting at the screen “girl just tell the truth!” But anyways, I kept watching as I felt bad for jbz lol. The good thing is… I could at least really feel that she loved ji bozai just as much as he loved him. They were both equally strong, equally devoted, and equally willing to live and die together. I’ve seen other dramas where it felt one-sided. Plus, there were both likeable characters, even as solo characters. I really rooted for them. So… that said… For 2026, this was my hidden gem. 1000000/10. In the end, I finished it in two days. With maybe two hours of sleep in between. I probably didn’t even eat.

The best revenge plot ever…

Marry My Husband is the most satisfying revenge drama I've watched. The revenge plot is done right, and that's what kept me hooked from beginning to end. The female lead isn't omniscient or perfect, which makes her victories feel earned. Every time she outsmarted or humiliated her enemies, it was incredibly satisfying to watch.

I wasn't a huge fan of the romance, though. The male lead was honestly pretty boring, and I found myself much more invested in the female lead's journey than their relationship. Watching her systematically take down the villains was the real highlight.

The second female lead was a fantastic villain, and it was so enjoyable watching her face the consequences of her own actions. The second male lead/villain was also far more interesting than the actual male lead, which says a lot. I’m not saying he’s a good guy, because that guy is definitely a red flag lol. All I’m saying is I enjoyed that actor’s performance a bit more. He had more personality, though it was crazy. Overall, if you're looking for a drama with an addictive revenge story rather than a memorable romance, Marry My Husband definitely delivers!!!
