in the novel, it is part of a moving scene and iirc the first step XJ thinks HY reminds him of HRF. it was also suppose to play a big part in the her identity reveal and have nice moments in her wedding

in the novel, iirc CZ was already in Rundu for another task and was trapped when Wutou blockaded the city

confused too. maybe arpar was advocating to keep LMD to get the cut time back?

i prefer the excerpt why XJ does the baby-sitting. Just how "general" is HY .....

they wanted to incorporate an underwater kiss as per the novel but did it badly after cutting the naval battle from the source

the impact is on novel readers - not sure if the drama would put as much time to flesh out the pairing like Liu Bu Wang x Mu Hong Jin

XJ and Chu's defence plan had a blindspot, and LB took in on himself to address that blindspot. Delaying the enemy vanguard at the cost of his life.

he and mu hong jin will never speak in this timeline as she ordered him not to appear in front of her in the past.

he rufei did not reinforce rundu as the garrison commander has met and was friends with General Feihong in the past - he was a loose end that HRF wanted to tie up.

no disagreement to such extent, as hinted in the trailers, in the novel.

there was a "she likes that other guy, he likes that other girl" misunderstanding, and was one of the catalyst for events prior to rundu

no worries. it is a key sequence in the novel - XJ wearing a mask and black outfit to attack HY in order to draw out her swordplay -

just that in novel it ended on a sweet embrace while drama has clearly made it a roadblock for them

i wanted to see HY use the purple whip ... not sure if they can replicate the sequences on land....

that said i realized the purple whip really looks like a toy prop and not a high quality weapon like the novel

edit: i just realized we are missing the setup for the underwater kiss.. maybe XJ is pursuing another "flood them all" strategy

i don't think she ever finds out specifics to the past. if novel is followed, other than flashbacks, they will never meet and speak in the current timeline,

There was a martial sister in the novel which i think gave some exposition but not seen in drama, LB never speaks his history with HY so she doesn't know either

he finds out she is either he rufei / feihong or associated with he rufei. HRF is currently enemy no. 1 for arriving late and not saving his father.

Novel did not have this misunderstanding as
1) General Xiao never meets with He Ru Fei / Feihong
2) Their swords were never a gift from General XIao
3) Feihong did not dispatch late - when general xiao died, HY / HRF was still a foot soldier in the fuyue army ( 1 year after she ran away from home and joined the army)

no. this relationship centers on mu hong jin and lu buwang and does not affect HY and XJ except them passing information
