just another fluffy drama

The trailer and the advertisements leading up to this show gave me very high expectations. I like yangyang and reba, they are honestly very good looking which I felt was the thing that gave this show its popularity boost. Acting-wise, it's all fine, no extraordinary emotional scenes or anything but that's not on them, it's on the script.

Do not expect a deep or emotional slice of life type of plot. This is simplicity at its finest, full on fluff for the majority of the episodes. I like that there aren't any ridiculous misunderstandings or annoying exes and the couple communicates well. Plotwise, I felt like there were too many unnecessary romantic scenes which other than satisfying cp fans, serve absolutely no purpose in the storyline. I think they are cute but sometimes, it's really too much. Even yangyang was shocked at the extent they have to go to in the behind the scenes footages. To be honest, the plot is very unrealistic and doesn't fully depict the lives of 30 years olds (even more so for an aerospace engineer and big celebrity) but take it with a pinch of salt that this is meant to be a very fluffy romcom. It's just that with all the anticipation building up for this drama, I expected a LOT more... this wasn't exciting or interesting, just very romantic.

I would recommend this if you're looking for a chill fluffy visual explosion drama that doesn't require thinking. But if you are expecting an intricate plot or emotion laden scenes then this is not for you.

you thought FIYS was good? this is crazier

A breathtaking revolutionary masterpiece. I finished it in 4 days and am completely tired out, not from boredom but from the amount of emotions that I have invested in this show. Not a single regret because it was executed perfectly from start till end, the timeline clear and concise.

First and foremost, the storyline. It is SO CRAZY interesting, the plot got me hooked right from the start. The concept of there being an ancient god, then true gods, then different realms (before humans come into play) is so refreshing. What surprised me the most is that there are NO FILLER SCENES, sometimes drama adds unnecessary scenes to drag it out but for ALP, this was non-existent. Everything had its own purpose, I didn't feel like skipping. The story follows two of our true gods, Shanggu and Baijue who have to face their biggest villain yet, fate. In this couple, actions speak SO MUCH LOUDER than words. Their devotion and dedication to each other are so touching and so inspiring, sweet and sad moments you name it! The side characters are so FUN, their stories don't seem abrupt and they really add substance to the momentum of the whole show. I really love the divine beasts and disciples. What will we do without gu jun, zixuan, hongri, jingjian, yuemi, fengran :'''(

Secondly, the acting is amazing. They are so devoted to their roles and carried out the emotional scenes so well. And there are A LOT of emotional scenes, I was breaking down every few episodes but of course, there's also enough sweet scenes for healing. Falling in your smile gave Xukai too little room for his acting abilities, ALP brings it up by a big notch. You haven't seen real sadness or pure joy until you see his amber eyes. Zhou Dongyu as expected, is also an incredible actress. From lively and bubbly to weak and hollow to powerful and fearless. You get so much from her despite her tiny frame. There's been a lot of antis who have been bashing the leads for their looks and this is just so screwed up in every way possible. Granted, FL does not look like the stereotypical period drama but she is really beautiful in her own way. Her aura, her acting, her emotions are mesmerizing. These two make an incredible pair with their soul breaking gaze and passionate love.

Thirdly, the CGI slaps. You can tell there was a lot of effort and budget put into this. It was way beyond my expectation despite knowing this was a 'S' level production. The fight with the flying demons and the display of power are mindblowing. The castles and scenic views were so beautiful.

Lastly, music. GOD TIER. Every time 执生念 plays, I know shit is gonna go down. "他为她守护三界/he protects the three realms for her" The tears never stop flowing god damn. There's so many incredible hard hitting songs that bring the memories flooding back it's crazy.

All in all, this show deserves an oscar, a grammy, a golden globe, whatever there is. I couldn't find a flaw even if I wanted to. The only thing I hoped for is a longer ending hahaha cause I was tortured to hell and back I deserve more :D

You won't regret it. Really and you might even stan many new artists after this ;)

cringefest

The biggest problem I have with this drama is the script. There were so many instances where I had multiple question marks thinking how can this be allowed?? ML had so many cringey forced actions and IMO did not convey the complexity of the character well. There were a few cute moments between the leads but the rest of the time, it felt really awkward. Bailu did well but zhang ling he unfortunately fell just a bit short. I watched it at 2x speed and some parts were still so draggy and unnecessary. Halfway through I realised I was just speeding through it for the sake of finishing it, the storyline became so repetitive and boring after a while. The only saving grace of this drama is the music choice, even then I sincerely do not recommend this drama.

NOT DRAGGY...SO WORTH IT!

I know many people don't like the voice of FL but trust me, you will adapt and appreciate her character for her bubbly nature.
I have to say this drama is practically a visual explosion and everyone acted so well! I'm a dingyuxi fan but the 2nd FL and ML are so so charismatic and good-looking, I really enjoyed their relationship. This is the first time the 2nd leads can rival the main leads in every aspect possible. All the couple scenes for both couples are sooooo cute that they made me feel extra single. The constant bickering in the bromance is also chefs kiss, who doesn't want to see 2 hot guys being funny HAHAHA

MOST IMPORTANTLY, it is not draggy!!! Everything moves at a good pace and the character developments are on point! The story plot is actually really unique in that they tapped on the r/s btw authors and their editors which is quite unusual. I'm glad to learn more about this line of work through this drama as well. There are definitely some parts that are a bit unrealistic but tbh I am more thankful for the realistic parts that dwelled on family acceptance, friendship, overcoming obstacles etc. There's this arc the main characters had to face near the finale and I have to say I was SO STRESSED and I truly felt all their emotions, I even cried with them! Kudos to their great acting I felt equally miserable HAHAHAH

To end it off, this is a really good drama for rom com lovers and visual seekers. Not many side stories, everything is well balanced and focused on the 2 relationships as well as the FLs' job, you will be very very satisfied if you like them :)

WORTH THE WATCH!!!t

Very wholesome and fluffy content!! The chemistry for both the main and second couple is insane!!!! No unnecessary drama or angst, every obstacle is dealt with quickly. The last few episodes got a bit too exaggerating but honestly at this point who cares when the leads are SO perfect together T___T

This is also the first time I am attracted to both couples, their storylines are amazing and so so cute! Really worth the watch and all the sleep sacrifices, hope they get to act in the same drama again!

definitely worth the watch!!!

The cast is great, FL (Zhou Yutong) has got to be one of the most alluring actresses I have ever seen. She is superb at her job and I think she single-handedly carried the show. 2nd FL is also very cute and charming, wish there were more scenes of her. ML's acting is slightly more rigid but I gotta say it's a big improvement from his previous drama 'love equations' or maybe this role suits him much more. The couple has very good chemistry which made their scenes extra cute but fair warning it does get overly cringey at times. Also, the child actor is so talented and soooo cute!!! I don't like children but his scenes with his parents made me coo so hard.

SPOILER !!!!!!!!!

The only reason why I didn't give a 10 is because of the plot. I get it, it's the cliche contractual marriage, fall in love with each other and the most cliche of all, silently sacrifice for one another cos of miscommunication. I am okay with all that but once we get to the post-divorce episodes, the plot became an unconnected ridiculous mess. They don't show us the character development at all. Suddenly the cold hotshot 2nd ML becomes a gooey mess and chases the 2nd FL. How does this just happen?? I was rooting for this couple until it gets so overly cringey. The poor dude had a crush for 10 years and suddenly his cold shell just broke overnight?? 2nd FL was not shocked at all to see him at the doorstep after not talking for 6 years?? This is just not realistic and I could tell the writer probably didn't bother to tie these loose ends and just wanna dive right into saving the main couple. I really liked the 2nd couple but I dropped them here when the dude got a personality transformation. However, I'm contented at the way the main couple patched things up with love gestures and communication. The ending was satisfying and there was closure for all issues but they really could try harder for the antagonist. He just suddenly has an epiphany and all is forgiven?? He stole a company for god sake but ok lol this is a romcom so I'll just ignore it.

not it

While I truly appreciate the lessons this drama was trying to teach, the plot and acting are just not it. Maybe it's a me thing but everything moves SO SLOWLY. Like even the actors themselves speak slowly and the female lead's lines are seriously just made up of "oh what?" "oh" *shocked pikachiu face* *acts blur* *dont know what the hell is going on when its right there* *innocent doe eyes for every damn scene* and this seriously gets on my nerves so bad. Like I understand the character is meant to be really shy with low self-esteem but some things only require basic common sense.

Plotwise it's really slow and draggy but I guess the beauty theme truly limits what the antagonist can do since she can only come up with petty tricks while the protagonist remains oblivious. Acting wise... I can't tell if they are doing it on purpose to be so slow and tsundere??? but definitely not the best there is out there.

However, this drama hit all the right spots regarding trashy men. It's like they handpicked the worst of men and put them in one space to disgust the rest of the population. Truly, I felt the anger the females had to endure with the douchebags remarks hurled at them by the male characters. They definitely got those scenes right because it infuriated me so much that I had to take a moment and then ponder about why society was built like this. How men never learn from their mistakes and think it's okay to treat women like objects while they remain superior. This is why I am thankful for the show because it definitely inculcated the right values and was going in the right direction. For people who are going to watch this drama, I truly hope it will teach you something valuable, for women know your worth and for men, respect women. For everyone, stop with this toxic beauty mindset, your physical appearance does not dictate your worth.

mediocre and cringey at best

Overly cringey and the plot is so poorly written. I've watched a ton of romcoms and have all the tropes memorised by heart, but this one is really not it. There is not much character development and the issues and obstacles they face as a couple are so backwards like a drama filmed in 2005.

The second leads' characters were horrible and annoying, I did not sympathise with them at all, not to mention the ridiculous amount of similar flashbacks. Think they didn't choose the cast very well, there's not much sense of chemistry and the characters just turned out underwhelmingly stale. I hardly ever not recommend a stereotypical romcom bcos I love the genre sm but this was just so boring.

Cute cute so cute!!

Honestly have to say song weilong carried this whole drama. Plot is very simple and predictable so its really like your typical rom com but with incredibly cute couple moments! I sped through ep 1 to 25 but it gets kind of draggy from ep 25-30 ish onwards so they really could have kept the whole show shorter.

I really really enjoyed watching the main couple and the minmin-prof couple! Their interactions are so cute (also hot at times) I am about to flip tables T_____T Some of the scenes really caught my heart and it's as though the age gap doesn't exist! Also, victoria looks younger and weilong looks older than they are so maybe that helped.

In conclusion, if you are looking for in depth plot then this is not for you but I would highly recommend this show to anyone out there who loves a good rom-com with very attractive and cute leads. May get a little draggy 3/4 into the show but hang on and you will enjoy the whole ride and squeal like there's no tomorrow!!

I have never been this impressed before.

A very wholesome and realistic slice of life, hands down this is the BEST family drama in cdrama history. The reason this drama reeled me in is the fact that it is incredibly practical and tackles real-life situations that we do not usually ponder about. Go Ahead made me reflected on myself and questioned the dynamic of family and kinship. I have laughed, cried, straight out bawled and cooed while watching the show. The plot is well written, it may be a little abrupt after they graduated from high school but they brought it back on track. It's like you can understand why each character has their own difficulties ya know?? No sudden prince charming to save the day but realistic human solutions. The romance part is also insanely cute so don't worry for yall romance suckers like me hehe. Not a single bit of regrets spending 40 eps with the cast!

I really have to give props to the cast who brought each character to life, especially zhang xincheng who played ziqiu, he could convey his sorrow and pain with just his expressions. He portrayed this character so perfectly to the point that I can cry with just one line of his. Flawless, amazing acting.

This drama is really worth your time, you learn so many life lessons from it. I am a sucker for romance but I am so happy this drama developed many areas that made each element so much more meaningful. It revolves around family, kinship, friendship, romance, communication, forgiveness and understanding. Truly a work of art!

maybe not...

watched this for song weilong but I really gotta say the plot is horrible and all over the place. I watched the entire movie at 1.5x speed and its only just bearable ... so many weird illogical moments but I guess that's how you make a typical rom-com. I do not recommend this movie at all please just go watch our times or something like that.

acting is decent but maybe the male lead is a little inexperienced which is a given since he was only 17 then. I like the friendship and camaraderie scenes more, the annoying prof with the son is ???? the movie did not dive into that so i was just so confused with all the underlying problems, i mean if u wanna create a problematic character then like give us closure/explanation??

all in all, its a cute university love story ++ some friendship on the side but really i have never been this bored with a movie before haiz..

so freaking good

I have to say I went in without any expectations but I am completely blown away with the whole setup by the first ep.

First and foremost, the acting is really a job well done. Both actors are so natural and expressive in their body language and facial expression. I can tell many of their scenes where they are making jokes, they are actually laughing with each other which made it 10x sweeter than ever. Sad, scary, happy, anxious, nervous, cute and many more scenes were all executed to perfection. I felt their emotions in every situation they were in. All the other supporting actors did a terrific job as well, no couple is boring.

Secondly, the plot is great. But note that I didn't expect much from a rom-com so this has already exceeded what I had in mind. They didn't scrimp on their budget so everything is very well balanced. **spoiler** There's this scene where the FL, ML and ML's sister finally got back at the pair of annoying sisters and if that wasn't the best 10mins of my life, I don't know what is. *ends*

Lastly, 40 eps is a lot but there was never a boring episode. They don't butter you up with the optimistic, cringely cheerful mindset nor are there any nonsensical misunderstanding, breakups or whatever. This is exactly what you expect from 2 people of different worlds with the same sense of service for the people and an even more powerful love for each other.
