Boring Man, Lovely Lady

Go Ae Sin (played by Kim Tae Ri) was captivating. She was so beautiful and dangerous. She fell in love with Eugene Choi (played by Lee Byung Hun). Eugene Choi was so boring and seemed lost most of the time. He fell in love with Ae Sin, but you could barely tell if he had any emotions. She learned English to be able to say and write his name, at first. She wrote I Missed You. Ae Sin asked Eugene to write it and he would not. She was so full of life. She even would jump off the third floor balcony of the hotel all the way to the ground. Eugene finally told her that he missed her several episodes later. I believe that he drained her emotionally, because of his robot-like demeanor. Mr. Sunshine was Mr. Boring or Mr. Lifeless. If it was not for Ae Sin, I would have stopped watching this drama around the 5th episode. I will never watch this drama again.

What A Mess!

The writing is so bad. Allen Ren is the same cardboard actor / character in every drama he does. He is kind of boring and stiff. They can copy and paste him into each drama. He talks (I know that there are voice actors) monotone way too much. Peng Xiao Ran can really act. Watch her in dramas such as Romance of a Twin Flower, Jun Jiu Ling and Go Princess Go. She does need the writers to make a better effort for her.

About this drama, Love and Crown, it should have never been made with the bad writing. It could have been great. The writers had the emperor coming close to death too much and they had him pining away for his empress too much. The emperor could not / would not tell her the truth about hardly anything, to protect her (yeah, right!). She always put everyone else ahead of the emperor, unless he was dying. She should have cleaved to her husband and not everyone else. He almost died in episodes 19 / 20. As soon as he started healing, she left again and did not tell him (like other times).

At this point, I do not care if it has a happy or sad ending. There are better costume dramas available and I will go watch one to them. I am tapping out of watching this drama; my time is too precious!

Aligned

Su Jin Yuan (played by Sun Yi Ran) was a great character. Her acting was superb. I wish the older brother was the main male lead instead of the adopted Xie Yun Yan (played by Jerome Deng). Su Jin Yuan was misled by a guy who told her that he had information about her missing younger brother. This boyfriend was so abusive and they ended up killing each other, at the beginning of the drama; they both were reincarnated and she killed the boyfriend quickly. Su Jin Yuan was supposed to have married the older brother, Xiao Yun Xi (played by Ou Jing Xiao). Su Jin Yuan made up for her previous mistake by rescuing the Xiao family. She saved Xie Yun Yan, befriending a prince to tie him to the family, confronting the emperor and taking down the evil emperor who was not supposed to be on the throne. I did not like the main male lead, Xie Yun Yan; he was petty, jealous and he always got in the way of what Su Jin Yuan was trying to accomplish. Xie Yun Yan could not eve tell that the divine doctor Xi Jun Ning (played by Li Sheng Xuan) was a female.

This drama was good in every way, except for the main male character who I could not stand. The older brother was a good character. The divine female doctor was a very good character.

I watched Aligned Reverence twice.

Trading the Crown Prince For a Killer

I watched this short drama based on the review of lullabaey. The review was interesting and spot on. I did enjoy this drama very much. The first male lead Shi Yi (played by Cui Yu Xin) and the first female lead Gu Qing Yao (played by Zhang Chu Han, were great. He played the assassin and she played the crown princess. The crown princess and the crown prince (Ling Yu (played by Chen Ming Hao) were childhood sweethearts and had just gotten married. They were in love with each other. After assassin Shi Yi tried to kill the crown prince on his wedding day, the crown princess shoved the assassin off of the bridge and into the water. She also fell in the water. It was the beginning of their souls being switched from each other's bodies. So many events happened. The assassin Shi Yi became the bodyguard for the crown princess Gu Qing Yao. The crown princess started keeping the crown prince at a distance, whether her soul was in her body or the assassin's soul was in her body. The crown prince wanted to consummate his marriage to the crown princess; that never happened. Gu Qing Yao fell out of love with the crown prince and she fell in love with the assassin Shi Yi. One really shocking point was when the crown princess' soul was in the assassin's body, she met with the leader of the assassins; it was none other that her father, the Prime Minister. The crown princess' father wanted the assassin to kill his daughter, the crown princess Gu Qin Yao. She told her father that the crown princess was three months pregnant, so her father called off the hit on his daughter. The crown princess Gu Qing Yao made the assassin Shi Yi smile; he did not smile in life much before interacting with her. The crown princess Gu Qing Yao and the assassin Shi Yi made a deal with the new emperor (former crown prince Ling Yu) that he would have his soul back in his body, if he let the crown princess leave the palace for good and live her life the way she wanted to. He had to agree. Shi Yi and Gu Qing Yao kissed and went off into their new life together. There was a very happy ending.

Very Dark Revenge, But Very Good Drama

The female lead Lan Meng Yan / Shen Wan Qing (played by Zeng You Zhen) was so very good. Her acting was superb. After all of the women of the family were killed, except the father's wife, most of the women's bodies were burned. Lan Meng Yan died and her face was cut (a giant "X" across her face), by her stepmother. She came back to life and she escaped. She was rescued by Qin Mo Xiu. He had her face changed and her voice changed. He trained her for 3 months in archery, weapons, some martial arts and more. When Lan Meng Yan married into the Lui family, she started her path for revenge. She turned father against son, both vying for her attention and affection. Her new background was being a daughter from a merchant family. Yes, she married her own brother, but she kept him at a distance. She turned her stepmother (father's wife) against her own brother and she soon killed him. Since the stepmother's son was being threatened by his father, the stepmother tried to sneak him out of the household in a casket. She thought her stepdaughter was dead and in the casket with her son. The stepmother nailed the casket shut, only to find out later that stepdaughter (Lan Meng Yan) was not in the casket at all, but very much alive. The evil stepmother rushed to remove the casket lid that she had previously nailed shut, only to find her son dead inside. The stepmother ended up killing her brother and her son, driving her mad. She was beaten severely by her husband (Lan Meng Yan's father) and locked in a room. Lan Meng Yan entered the room and dropped a bottle of poison for her evil stepmother. All the while, Qin Mo Xiu kept an eye on Lan Meng Yan, acting to protect her when necessary. He did call Lan Meng Yan his pawn one time to many and she let him know that she did not like it; he never called her his pawn again. Lan Meng Yan and Qin Mo Xiu took out all of the Liu lamily member, with the exception of her father. He showed up at the opera as one of the actors. We was later exposed to the crowd and his image was ruined. He was later killed.

Next, Lan Meng Yan and Qin Mo Xiu entered a secret spy club and Lan Meng Yan was poisoned, making her into a controllable puppet of sorts. Qin Mo Xiu broke her out of the puppet state. Later, Qin Mo Xiu was hit by a poisonous dart, as him and Lan Meng Yan investigated the areas of the facility. She cured him of the poison. There was a contest between the young woman of the spy facility. Lan Meng Yan was knocked out and tied up, so she could not participate. A strange man came into the room and he wanted to have his way with her, but she killed him with the weapon strapped to her right leg. She untied herself, grabbing a bow and some arrows. Lan Meng Yan went from room to room shooting the evil men (mostly ministers of the court), killing them and helping the young ladies escape. She killed almost all of the ministers herself, but one was left for the other ladies to kill.

The last part of this drama was about a general who was receiving all of the monies from the Liu family, via the opera and the spy organization. The general was planning to rebel against the emperor. In the meantime, the emperor wanted to question and punish Lan Meng Yan and Qin Mo Xiu for the killing of his ministers. She told him that the minister were trying to torture, rape and kill the women of the spy faculty. He did not seem to care about the women, just his ministers. Whe the general's rebellion started, two eunuch's tried to poison the emperor, but Lan Meng Yan shot both of them dead, saving the emperor. She lead some women (in special outfits) into the room where the rebelling general and Qin Mo Xiu were. Between Lan Meng Yan and Qin Mo Xiu they killed the general's soldiers, thwarting the rebellion. Qin Mo Xiu fought with the general, beating him down. He handed the sword over to Lan Meng Yan who stabbed the general and quickly slashed his neck with the sword. The general died.

The emperor wanted to make Qin Mo Xiu a Duke, but Mo Xiu declined. He wanted to walk hand in hand with Lan Meng Yan. At first she would not take his hand, but later reached out and took his hand. They ended up walking off, hand in hand. The end.

Very Interesting Drama - Spirits and Humans

Spirit Master He Si Mu / Xiao Xiao (Dilraba Dilmurat) was great. She had so many challenges from extreme loneliness to betrayal to awakening senses to love. She was great in every aspect of this drama. This may have been her best acting to date. General Duan Xu (Arthur Chen) was very good. He delivered great battle scenes and fights. He single-handedly destroyed the enemy army of over 200 thousand soldiers. He brought Spirit Master's five senses to life by sharing them with her. Yan Ke (Miles Wei) was so good with his acting. He wanted Spirit Master He Si Mu's heart, but he could never get her love. It drove him mad that she loved a human, but not him. One of my favorite characters was Jiang Ai (Zhang Li); she was fun and she stuck up for the human Duan Xu. She always mentioned him to Spirit Master He Si Mu to stir up her feelings for him. Duan Xu and Yan Ke had a few scuffles between them, mostly because Yan Ke was so jealous of He Si Mu's love for Duan Xu. He Si Mu really tried not to fall in love with the human, Suan Xu, but his love and senses made her fall in love with him. She helped him whenever he needed her, but she was hurt that he did not call her name when he was in trouble. She destroyed Yan Ke, who had previously trapped her in her spirit room. She did break out and showed him that her power was still much greater than his. The wedding between Spirit Master He Si Mu and Duan Yu was a spectacular sight. They had their wedding in the spirit realm and the other spirits seemed very happy with the pairing. They even mentioned that the bride and groom were a match made in heaven. Duan Yu gave Spirit Master He Si Mu all five of his senses as a betrothal present. She gave up her position as spirit master. He Si Mu and Duan Xu spent time alone, before he died. She was so distraught with grief that she froze the surrounding area with ice. She decided that she would not bury him with her over twenty-two former lovers, but next to her parent's tomb. She would travel the mortal realm. The spirit of duan Xu found its way to He Si Mu and they travelled together. She hoped that the spirit was his and that he would one day come back as human. The rewatch value of this drama is very high.

A Strong Female and A Loving Male Lead

I did not expect this drama to be this good. Chu Yu (played by Victoria Song) was magnificent. She was a strong female lead that would not let anyone or anything define her. She was a protector of the country and of 2 families, the Wei family and the Chu family. Her martial arts performances were so strong. When she made up her mind to have a relationship with the youngest brother of the Wei family, Wei Yun (played by Ryan Ding). After a long period of time Chu Yu started giving her all to be with Wei Yun. You had to love her in this drama, Fight For Love.

Ryan Ding was Ryan Ding, charming, shy and a great fighter. When he decided to love the female lead, he gave it his all. During the last war with the enemy country, Wei Yun killed the enemy's emperor, helped Chu Yu's brother and rescued Chu Yu. He was everywhere. He was named his country's God of War; he did not like the new title, because he knew that it would tap him and others would try to exploit him.

After fighting for so long to be together, Chu Yu and Wei Yun could see the light at the end of the tunnel. They would be together one day. At the end of the drama, Wei Yun was forced to guard the border for three years. Wei Yun and Chu Yu were apart for all three years. When Wei Yun arrived back outside the gates of the capital, Chu Yu put on a spectacular martial arts display for him, then she asked Wei Yun if he would marry her. He finally said "I will".

How Dare Yo? I Do Dare!

I knew that watching this drama was going to be great. Wang Chu Ran (played Consort, then Noble Consort Yu Wan Yin / Wang Cui Hua) and Ryan Cheng (played Emperor Xiahou Dan / Zhang San), you could not go wrong. Wang Chu Ran was great, as the Emperor's Consort, the noble consort / Noble Consort. She was such a strong character and she was so kind, unless someone she cared about was in danger. She was fearless and just so brave. Xiahou Dan was the Emperor and was a weak character overall; he drew strength from You Wan Yin (his Consort / Noble Consort).

This drama was serious at times, but had many funny moments too!

Tang Xiao Tian (played Xiahou Bo), was a very dark and mysterious prince. His deceased mother was formerly a palace maid servant. He was considered illegitimate. Actress Hu Yi Xian (played Consort Xie Yong Er) and was genuinely attracted to the illegitimate prince, Xiahou Bo. He used her for information and as a bed partner. Xiahou Bo only liked himself, somewhat. consort Xie Yong Er developed into a great character and she went from being aloof to having a close relationship with Wang Chu Ran's character (Consort / Noble Consort Yu Wan Yin). When Consort Xie Yong Er and Consort / Noble Consort You Wan Yin developed such a close relationship, they became close like sisters. The two of them played together, talked with each other and ate together. Sometimes the emperor would interrupt them and get in the way. There was a time when Noble Consort Yu Wan Yin started looking out for Consort Xie Yong Er, especially after she got pregnant and was poisoned. The Noble Consort Yu Wan Yin carried Consort Xie Yong Er on her back, to the Consort's palace. The evil Empress Dowager was a killer, a schemer and a control-centric person. Near the end of the drama, it was said that she was actually from the enemy country.

All throughout this drama, was was yelling at the television that the Emperor should give his Noble Consort more power; I wanted him to make her his Empress sooner so she would not have her hands to tied; she needed more power. He made her is Empress in the last third of the drama.

The final episode of the drama was so beautiful. The Emperor Xiahou Dan was in court with all of his Ministers. Wang Chu Ran, Emperss, walked into court with the most beautiful of gowns. She walked so gracefully and was so beautiful. She left the Emperor and Minister in aw. They Emperor and Empress walked back to a place laced with flowers. As the walked around and met at the end, a beautiful huge fireworks display took place in the night sky. The Emperor slipped a very unique gold locket ring on the Empress' finger. I had to snap so photos of the Empress' red and black gown. I also took some photos of the locket ring. I showed the photos to other people and they could not believe how the beauty of Wang Chu Ran, her red / black gown and the locket ring.

Actually, the ratings of this drama went from 8.3 to 8.7 on MyDramaList. If you do not know, that is a very high rating, that is up there with shows like Guardians of the Defang. It is ahead of Legend of the Female General.

I will watch this drama, How Dare You?, again in the near future. I Do Dare!

First Night With the Duke - Fairytale

First Night With the Duke was so much more interesting than I thought it would be. I will say that it was great. Cha Seon Chaek was fantastic and brought fun, intelligence, kindness and beauty to this drama. At times, she could also be a bit naive. When she, a support character in the story, brought her fun and modern cocktails to the drama, people became so interested in her. Prince Gyeong Seong was the king's sword; he killed anyone and everyone on the king's list. He killed without mercy. He started seeing the blood of others on his hands and did not like killing anymore. He met a drunk Cha Seon Chaek who told him that she knew all about him. He did not like killing. He took notice of her and thought she was different than other women and people. She drunkenly kissed him, out of the blue. The next morning she realized that she had slept with him all night. Her dress was lying on the floor next to the bed and the prince was in bed beside her. The prince started having feeling for her, but she was not so sure about him. Well let us skip ahead...danger and love found both Cha Seon Chaek and prince Gyeong Seong. Cha Seon Chaek was almost murdered several times, but was rescued by the prince each time. This was sort of a fairytale web drama. Cha Seon Chaek became a main character to the ire of other main characters. The rewatch value of this drama is highly recommended.

What A Magnificent Drama

I must say that this drama, Blossoms in Adversity, was excellent. I wish it was 1,000 episode long; it was 40 episodes.. Do not watch it a compare it to modern day and what dramas we have seen before. Jus tsit back and watch it. The young lady protagonist is fantastic. She is strong and fearless, yet feminine. The world needs to watch this drama and have hope. The eldest daugther was a loner, but rose to every challenge while being surrounded by people. You can tell that she wanted to just walk away from the responsiblilites thrusted upon her, but she did not. Many people have such overbearing preassures in their lives. Some people fight thru it and other just quit. She had to be tough. She did have a good man that cheered her up, gave her affection and protected her. There ere many kind people and some evil one's too. Just watch the show and enjoy! You will see.
