Still Watching Years Later
I love Mike He and Rainie Yang to begin with. There are few dramas Mike He has done that I have not seen. That being said, this was my first foray into dramas from Taiwan, years ago, and it was because of how much I enjoyed this drama that I dove deeper into Asian dramas in general. The emotional range Mike He and Rainie Yang deliver is wonderful and they deliver those heartbreaking, gut-wrenching moments beautifully. I will say I didn't really care for the second male and female leads, but they didn't subtract from the overall enjoyment all that much. The story itself is beautifully written and portrayed on screen. I'm still watching this drama in 2020. Highly recommend! Was this review helpful to you?
A Decent Watch with Room for Improvement
Normally I'd sing the praises of a drama with Ryota Katayose in it. However, I feel that the acting in this drama could have been a little more serious over all, and while I adore him as an actor... I think I might have enjoyed it more with a different actor in his place. I was surprised by the female lead - I'm not really one for too much of the starry-eyed female leads, but at the same time this really worked for me in this film. The story was okay, but they mention this hobby of his and that's really about it. I went into watching this film thinking that this was going to be a major issue in the story and it wasn't. It was misleading and might have added a bit more oomph to the story overall if they had focused on it just a little more. The romantic aspect of the story was alright, and I liked the overall premise surrounding their relationship toward the end. Maybe if there had been a different buildup to the climax I would have been more impressed with it.
