wonderful! wonderful production, acting, chemistry, cinematography, everything really! I was wondering what they…
also, I was also looking towards the dancing in the park scenes, but I'm a little sad that they've changed it, since it was somewhat relevant in the manga :( It would've also been better if they had included more internal monologues / thoughts and depth of the characters (like in the manga), i felt like that was lacking a bit (probably due to time limit). other than that its still great and the acting was just amazing!
wonderful! wonderful production, acting, chemistry, cinematography, everything really! I was wondering what they would show from the manga and how, since it's super long and still ongoing but i think they did great! I only wished they would've included more of the protagonists backgrounds (or rather Suzukis background!), and talk a bit more about the briefly mentioned side characters (Nino, Ernest, Alberto etc.). I feel like they the left out a bunch of stuff (probably due to time constrains), which gave the story less depth (especially about the protagonists), but overall it's okay.
Also, since they often don't show the internal monologues / thoughts of the protagonists in the movie, it might be difficult sometimes to understand their struggles/ conflicts. I see many complains about lacking communication /dialogue and i would say it's partially true, but I think people tend to forget that this is a story about dance! They are communicating with their bodies, their gazes, I could def sense their yearning. I felt like many changes happened on the inside and you could see them express that realistically (or at least what you can see from the outside).
I was also surprised that they filmed in the actual locations of the ballroom comps, like Blackpool! I'm happy with how they handled the ending of the movie as I was curious about how they would do it (since the story in the manga is still ongoing), but I'm glad with how they solved it! (which makes me wonder if there will be a second movie or continuation?)
I would definitely recommend watching it, and for anyone getting curios about the story, to read the manga! :) I wouldn't treat the movie as its own complete thing, but rather as an introduction to the story!
