I cannot believe this is adapted from a novel written by someone who wrote Bad Kids. Very different in tone. And we never had a comedy Light On drama before cmiiw.
I wish however it is shorter like the usual 12-16 episodes, since it starts to drag at episode 5 onwards. Love the BGM though, very quirky.
Is this the best crime drama this year? I have bad experiences with the earlier ones released this year -none of them are Long Season/Long Night level - though the one with Jiang Qiming was pretty good.
I shed tears watching ep. 16. That kind of perseverance against all odds.... last time I cried was when watching She and Her Girls. Not many dramas can move me like those two.
Some major changes to the novel pissed off book fans, also the novel is too short to be adapted into a 35 episode…
I also think the pacing is good, even with slow non action scenes there is always something to watch. And I am speaking as someone who mostly watch 12-episode drama.
