well it was interesting to see what they were doing with the scenes from the og, but it definitely doesn't stand on its own. it feels like more of a love letter to the original. but.. i actually don't know if i would've preferred it if they reworked the structure and story beats of the original... i just think most of us like the og for the chemistry of the actors not the actual plotline so i always thought a remake was going to flop

mdl usually gets the episode count of japanese dramas wrong, i think bcs we only find out when it ends or when one of the actors/directors says how many episodes it has - rather than a more official post. this was always going to have eight eps from the start
