Ok. Time for me to give the HIStory franchise a rest

Mmmm...nope. This was not it. SO many things were just not working for me in this series. It's a miracle that i was able to complete it as I have no idea how I watched this series from December 28, 2022, to March 01, 2023. This right here was pure torture! And I know why I always continued watching it- I foolishly thought that it would have gotten better. news flash- it doesn't. And I don't care what anyone says but the last good series with both couples they had was HIStory 3: MODC 9and yes even those last two episodes that people don't/ haven't watch was WAY better than this!). They have been downhill since then. (HISTory 4: CTY was okay with 1 couple. The next one, not so much).

Story-1.5 /10

It started off with Tai Che Ne, from the year 2000, being transported to the year 2022. He is so distraught and wants to return home to his grandmother in the year 2000 that he does anything in his power to achieve this...for like the first few episodes. He then begins to spend a lot of time with Hai Yi and their relationship developed. This relationship takes the forefront as we aren't really mentioned about his desire to return home to his grandmother until quite episode 14 (I think).

And then, let's not forget about the secondary couple -Liang Wen Hsen and Lin Huai En (a.k.a Wynn)- who really brought...nothing for me. Thier main concern with their relationship was the age-gap, which isn't really a concern for me. For them to know that it was okay they brought in a couple from HIStory 4: CTY- the secondary couple. Now, let me start off by saying- I have nothing against an age- gap relationship as well as stepbrothers being in a relationship. What I have an issue is HOW this relationship started. I still have an issue with this to date and seeing them again in this series just made me feel meh.

Out of all twenty episodes, I was only able to follow 3. Yes- you heard me. Only 3 episodes out of 20!!! And that's when Hai Yi's dad died, and he took over. Because I was hella confused from the get-go. I even felt that the synopsis was wrong only until these two episodes aired (it was either 11 and 12 or 13 and 14. I don't even know anymore). The third episode that I was finally to grasp what the heck was going on was episode 19. It finally cleared things up for me. But now it's a little too late as I have lost any care for whatever is going on in this series.

And the sad thing is, the concept sounded interesting. And I just don't know what went wrong. Because a lot went wrong. Due to all of this, I am giving the story a 1.5.

Acting/Cast: 1/10

Because of how the cast was not able to portray their characters in a way for me to enjoy this series, I am giving their acting a 1. I was just turned off from the get-go and tried really hard to like them. And I don't know why but I was not feeling either of the couples during their intimate scenes with each other. I actually just wanted it to be over. I guess as how I didn't feel any connection with their relationship being developed to that point- that when they reached that stag in their relationship, I just meh and wanted those intimate scenes to be over with.

Music- 8/10
The music was the only saving grace for this whole entire series. It was addictive and memorable. I know that I am going to miss it so much. As such, I give the music an 8.

Rewatch Valu-1/10

You guys will NEVER see me watching this series again. I am grateful that I did give it a watch, so I won't wonder be left wondering what happened with these characters.

Overall- 3.5/10

Overall, I give this series a 3.5. It is safe to say that the HIStory franchise is not what it used to be and maybe, just maybe, we need to give this franchise a long rest to see if we can get it back to the glory days that were HIStory 2: Crossing The Line, HIStory 3: Trapped and yes even HISTORY3: Make Our Days Count. If you still want to watch this series, you can go right ahead. But i just cannot and will not recommend this series to another individual.
