Loved the premise, not so much the execution

Thoughts:
- oh my god the blood spitting, half the time everyone on screen had bloodied mouths
- there were several storylines (lives) of MCs that didn't really connect that well, at the end it seems it's just too complicated for no good reason, but there was no amnesia thankfully
- the MCs never really come together, one is always angry at the other, it seems like it was just endless running in circles! He became the devil god like three times already before the final one. There were so many unnecessary developments that sidetracked the main story
- I loved that he actually became the dreaded devil god, but I don't understand why she didn't love him, it was still mostly him, just more evil!! He was still the same old softie below the facade
- I feel like a lot of the things made absolutely no sense and were invented just so they could spin the story whichever way they wanted

Nonetheless, I enjoyed the last two episodes of the all-powerful devil god 🔥🔥

I disliked the ending. I hated that their resolution was for the devil god to be killed out of existence.

The only good thing about this is the OST

Review for both seasons !!! This drama managed to contain everything I hate in a love story:
- love triangle ✔️
- two best friends fighting for the girl ✔️
- asshole guy stealing the girl from his nice friend who liked her first ✔️
- girl immediately liking the asshole guy over absolutely nothing (but his looks I guess) ✔️
- dumb miscommunication which breaks them up✔️
- time lapse ✔️
- the miscommunication is cleared, but they have moved on and do NOT get back together, the main couple changes ✔️ (I love second-chance romance :( )
- bittersweet ending ✔️

Basically, I hate love triangles cause they're always a mess and bittersweet. I especially hate them when the MC changes throughout the story. I can't ship one couple and then ship another, I just can't.

The only good thing about this is the OST and maaaybe the character development of the heroine, coming to terms with her past.

A bit childish slowburn feel-good romance

I can see why this is beloved by many people. If it were one of my first K-dramas, it would've been a feel-good one for me too.
I really liked the male lead, he was the perfect boyfriend! The female lead was goofy and fun, albeit immature. I didn't like how the whole triangle was done though. I felt ML and FL had enough going on themselves in their personal lives, I really don't know why the second leads and triangles were necessary. Speaking of, I honestly got a Second lead syndrome, but for female lol. I felt sorry for her; in another story, she could've easily been the MC. There was so much heartbreak between the ML and her and so much potential for a second-chance romance. She felt out of place here! I don't know what they were trying to do with all the flashbacks between them, if not make us feel sad and nostalgic for them together.
Not to mention on the other side, the FL had a thing for ML's brother for 10 episodes before anything turned around. I thought the focus should've been on ML and FL more, not on other characters.
It's a solid 7/10 for me.

Best of K-Dramas of the year 2022

This drama is definitely along the lines of Goblin (2016), Scarlet Heart Ryeo (2016), Crash Landing On You (2019), The Untamed (2019) and The Love Between the Fairy and the Devil (2022).

It's just one of those EPIC adventures with three-dimensional characters, plot twists, comic reliefs, stunning fantastical cinematography, soundtracks, devastating emotional stories & heartbreaks.

Beware before you sign up for the ride though,

Better than original!

This review is mainly for the people who have already watched the original, I will make a comparison.
While the original series was amazing, this Thai version takes it to a whole new level. They spun the story in a way that made much more sense to me, and they "corrected" the main shortcomings of the original series. I absolutely loved this rendition, because (SPOILER ALERT!!):

1) the person who steals her house is her sister, which makes much more sense in the real world. It also makes more sense why she didn't go to the police. I would've probably made the same decision, which I definitely would not in the case of the original series, where the thieves were her awful friends.

2) they fell in love at halfway through and the story was solely focusing on them. There was less drama with other people in general; at the beginning he was even mad at the other woman, he also didn't regularly stand up the heroine, that only happened once in the second part. There was also less meddling of her sister/bf, they didn't randomly break into their house, the sister also wasn't nearly as mean, she was always heavily influenced by her bf, etc. There was also less involvement of his family. The story really focused on them spending time together and annoying each other (loved the broken leg theme, where she had to nurture him).

3) loved the other guy! He wasn't as handsome as the hero, so I didn't get the second lead syndrome like in the original series. He was also very likeable, always acting properly and scolding the other woman what was she thinking, clinging onto a married man, and vice versa he scolds the hero that he's hurting the heroine - BIG like.

4) the resolution with the other woman was a tiny bit different, but it made the whole difference. In the original series, the hero is loyal to the other woman till the very end, until she tells him to go. Here, the hero is angry that he has to stay by other woman's side and even tells it to her face ("Now I cannot love her, because of that stupid promise I made to you"). And in the end, he himself declares that he can't do that anymore, whether she agrees or not.

5) I'd just like to comment on the acting, I really loved the heroine's sad act. When she stays at other guy's house after the rain and they sit on the couch and she breaks down. Man that physically hurt me, she is such a good actress. And again when she returns with the hero to the house, and they sit outside and she quickly says she can't listen anymore because she'll get even more hurt. When she stood up quickly and kinda patted his knee and ran inside holding back tears, I thought WOW that's exactly how it happens in real life, again she did a fantastic job.

Aesthetically pleasing, funny and unexpectedly emotional drama

I have a few negative things to say, and I will say them first.
✘ Regarding the male lead:
In the beginning, we get an overpowered villain male lead with deadly ancient powers. He could basically destroy entire realms and no one could stop him. He is ruthless, emotionless, and deadly. Now I'm a sucker for overpowered anti-heroes so the premise was right up my alley. I love it when shows don't just hype up someone, but also DELIVER. In this aspect, the show delivered in episode 9 (my fave episode in the entire show) and then never again. It got me sooo hyped up, but then it fell through. The hero becomes more of a hero than a villain, he becomes emotional and weak. He completely changes his cold and ruthless demeanor I loved. I am okay with having him gain emotions and falling in love as a part of his character development, but I really hated him becoming as weak as any other immortal. He gains his powers back in the very end, but we get to see nothing of it. :(((

✘ Regarding the ending:
The ending was very rushed. The angst that began with him losing his powers and the heroine dying continues up to the last few seconds of the show. The hero returns, they kiss, and the end. We see nothing more of the goddess/Orchid mix of a character. I'm still not sure how that works. We get robbed of seeing him in his overpowered state again and reuniting with his people and others. We see nothing of how others react to him coming back. We don't even get the wedding. I feel like the price we paid with all the angst and heartbreak wasn't worth the 3 seconds of HEA.

That being said... I LOVED everything else.
❥ The whole show was soooo AESTHETICALLY PLEASING, I can't stress this enough:
The cinematography was stunning. The intro and outro art was really something else, just absolutely gorgeous. I absolutely loved the costumes, especially Moon Supreme's armor. The soundtracks are amazing, especially the main theme/opening song (Cut Off Love (诀爱 Jue ai)) - I'm still listening to it now after the show ended, it gives me goosebumps and possibly PTSD to all the emotional scenes, lol.

❥ Some scenes were so EMOTIONAL, they made me cry:
The father-son scenes really opened an important theme of sacrifice. Heroine's sacrifice was gut-wrenching. And finally, the hero's sacrifice probably hit the most, because I really felt he was gonna disappear forever.

❥ The show was really FUNNY too, especially in the beginning! It had so many comic relief scenes that really made you cringe-laugh all the time.

TL;DR: get ready to laugh, cry, have PTSD from this. 10/10, worth rewatching and worth sticking with 36 episodes.

Boooring! But OST was great

It was very quick-paced, she was head over heels within seconds of their first meeting. The rest is just him coming around and them getting over the obstacles.
Basically: BOOORING

I liked the main song tho, I didn't even realize it before I started humming it randomly. It got stuck in my head, it's very catchy.

Oh one more thing, since the actress is actually a singer from a K-POP group, I expected some "real-time" singing on camera but was disappointed it was all dubbed over with a studio-recorded singing. I guess some K-POP stars really can't sing that well.
