Stellar cast

For the greater good I need to review this drama - To make a long story short: in case there’s anyone sitting on the fence, you should definitely watch this show. I went in expecting a light rom-com, but there were a few episodes in the latter half the pulled at the ol’ heartstrings.

I mainly watch modern Chinese rom-coms and have only seen a handful of Taiwanese dramas, but know what to expect for the most part. This is the second drama I’ve seen with Ben Wu and he’s pretty delightful. Prior to watching, I saw someone lamenting his costuming/styling and I can see where they’re coming from. It’s like he’s taking on the role of a charismatic potato.

The secondary relationships really steal the show compared to the leads (Ren Hao/Luosha, Ren Hao/You Yuanle, Leila/everyone she interacts with). The office crew really grew on me too, everyone played their roles extremely well, and the bromance was top notch. Female lead was the weakest role but I don’t know if it’s really the actress’s fault (rather than an exceptionally slow character growth arc in the story).

The typical Taiwanese humour found in these dramas aren’t too everyone’s taste but there were quite a few genuine belly laugh moments for me. It felt like a good mix of slapstick and spot-on comedic timing.

The show is pretty much 90% good times, 10% tear jerker. Happiness definitely outweighs any negatives or dragging episodes.

Will probably rewatch certain episodes down the road.
