One doesn't need to be an actor to know that portraying a character with little to no sight is extremely difficult. As to the complaints, I'm fucking done with them and don't care anymore. For all I care, they can have a glass of cold water and go watch something else.

I was actually surprised that I liked the series better. Not sure if I can even explain why but the cinematic and the lines had a more sophisticated touch than the book. And Jom's character in the series is not that daring as in the book, with more refined manners and class, so to say. I think it was because of the wording.
