the word masterpiece gets thrown a lot but this drama absolutely deserves every single letter in that word. The most beautifully crafted drama i've ever seen, some scene compositions are absolutely stunning, add to that the complex and humane stories that this drama have and you'll have a literal masterpiece. You can feel that every single character is a real person, who you can imagine what they're doing off screen, not a plot device ALSO, one underrated thing is the OST, besides the songs, I absolutely loved the osts that have animal sounds remixed, especially the frog one.
please give me a recommendation for a realistic Chinese drama like this
check Hidden love and The best thing (just finished airing few days ago), both are soothing, beautifully crafted, and visually breathtakingly beautiful with characters who act like real human beings rational and multi layered, not plot devices to drive the plot forward.
well she feels guilty because of what happened to her friend and that's totally understandable
totally agree with every single word you said, I'm not saying she's right its just I kinda understand how she made those mistakes, most if not all athletes don't have the opportunity to develop the broader life skills necessary to navigate challenges outside of their athletic career, she's not mature enough for her age especially when she chose to runaway to work in a restaurant thinking that she can get over her problems, she just made the problem much bigger than it really was by running away those few years. and you have the SML who's in my opinion is poorly written athlete who acts like a 15yo bully while he ditched away all of his professional life as if he never had it

athletes are different, they spend most of their lives doing one thing and living, eating, sleeping, thinking for one thing only, their sport, to have that one thing taken away from you because of guilt is huge and detrimental for a person's personality.
in which ep main lead starts dating? any break up? if any then in which ep they get back together? and any annoying…
they got together in ep4 but technically it was episode 5, they broke up in ep13 but it was obvious that its a healing process rather than a breakup I absolutely despise sudden breakups and can make or break a drama for me but I understood it this time, they got together after 1 episode. and thankfully no love triangle or whatsoever or even anything that comes close to it (I'm talking about the main leads ofc)
many cdramas have this weird thing that since the guy have to pursue the girl, he must be the one who have to figure out everything, solve everything and be the most understanding soul on planet, doesn't matter if his whole family died, he have a terminal illness and is fighting on the eastern front in ww2 for 3 years, he should be the one to carry and build things out.
beautifully crafted, 99.9% of dramas that uses 21:9 or any ultra wide aspect ratio (black bars top and bottom of the screen) are suffocating and feels like the shots are unnatural, they use that aspect ratio to make it "mOrE CiNeMatIc" but not this one, some shots are breathtakingly beautiful and accomodate for the extra space on either side of the screen.
I know this drama is inherently full of cliché no worries, but it went absolutely ridiculous from epsode 19-20, nothing absolutely nothing make sense, they're all clichés but unlike the rest of the show they're horrendously timed and executed
this should have love triangle tag all over it, almost every single conflict or misunderstanding is started or based on the fact some side character liking one of the mains.
what a horrible outdated drama, every single person is a walking trope, not real people, they were born and survived in the glorious People's Republic of China just to exist and die of old age as tropes. the moment any single character utter a single line, you can understand their whole personality and their end game. I wasted 7 episodes for nothing.
I still can't get enough of that drunkard zhizhi episode, Lu si's acting was perfect, by far the best, the cutest and the purest drunk performance I've ever seen across all major drama countries, nothing comes close to it
a masterpiece, that episode 6 is a chef d'oeuvre. the ML is such a complex multi layered character, such a unique character that I've never came across before.
I'm not familiar with C-drama and I come from a comletely different culture yet this show sent me 16 years back down the memory lane, its sweet, nostalgic and wholesome, I'm 32yo and I was smiling almost the whole time watching this. also Zaizai is an bomb of energy, she's absolutely relentless in every single good way possible.
