Thank you for giving a clear cut clarification. From what l have seen he is the one who is criticized most of…
Burning Flames is definitely borderline for me. It’s packed with happy moments and even closes with a brief glimmer of hope, but her dying at the wedding after everything they survived still makes the ENDing lean sad, imo.
And honestly, because the drama spent so long in life-or-death mode — constant ‘is he dying, is she dying, is someone killing someone’ tension — I really needed the payoff to match the journey. After all that stress and sacrifice, even a simple moment showing that they BOTH finally got to enjoy the peace they fought so long and hard for would’ve been enough.
Instead, he’s left to carry everything alone for a while, and while the final scene hints at a reunion, it’s more suggestion than closure. For me, when the stakes are that high for that long, the emotional landing really matters. It doesn’t have to be big — it just needs to honor all the buildup we sat through. Burning Flames came very close, but fell short with her sudden, early death.
I’m not afraid of sad endings at all. A sad ending doesn’t automatically make an entire production sad or bad, and it doesn’t erase the happy parts. For me it’s always about how the closure and satisfaction land for the leads.
And with the one you mentioned, it really just depends on how the angst pays off. But based solely on your description, it sounds pretty happy to me.
I can't wait to see the emperor fighting!!! Happy that he let CangCang go. Will she finally have a taste of real…
i think in the book this is the turning point for them but they still distrust each other all along the way. in the drama hard to say - but she is not the brightest (immature)
This is giving major contractual-obligation energy for both RJL and PXR 💀 Pretty sure this was RJL’s last drama under the old agency too. Now that he’s independent, I cannot WAIT for the level-up in scripts and projects.
Excited for this! RJL has flown the nest and is independent finally. Curious to see what kind of scripts he will be taking on now. Anyone know when this will be released??
Yeah, it’s really weird how people are reducing her down to the romance. Other than not currently being so into…
Yes I agree with you, he needs to stop hiding the trut. It’s a HUGE problem. It’s not fair to cang cang or anyone for that matter, and tricky as his situation is I don’t think it’s enough of an excuse anymore.

Agree — but the fault really falls at the feet of her father, master, and brother, honestly. They’re the ones who created this mess. But Xiao Huan is not helping, and I think he’s making things even more complicated for her by not being honest from the start, or at least coming clean at some point. He’s absolutely between a rock and a hard place, but the lack of honesty isn’t helping her at all.
And she is trying, but she’s also not taking responsibility in certain ways. I don’t even have a problem with Cang Cang herself — I just think she’s too caught up in her own feelings and slipping into self-pity when she can’t afford to. She’s clouded by her hurt, and nobody can control that but her… but again, Xiao Huan’s secrecy isn’t helping her gain any clarity.
But the lack of clarity being there in the first place is wholly due to her father. The core fault still lies with her family, who have been gaslighting her for her entire life. That’s a brutal situation for her, 💯 — but it’s also extremely tough on a romantic partner too. Especially for him, considering his position, his illness, and the wolves circling him waiting to take advantage the moment he slips.
So yeah, I strongly disagree with the way he’s handling the honesty piece too… but he isn’t the one at fault.
