Kiss lovers, how long do you plan to complain about knowing that ML respects his real wife by not kissing (like…
I honestly think he gets criticized because he’s too good at romance. It’s counterintuitive, but he can build tension and communicate so much with just his eyes alone that people end up wanting more — and not getting it because he is classy — and they project that onto him as a flaw instead of a talent.

And then there’s the whole ‘it’s part of their job, just suck it up’ argument — which is honestly such a shallow take. That’s like telling anyone in any profession that sacrificing their boundaries or their family is just the price of success, and if you don’t like it, deal with the fallout. That’s not how real life works. Wanting an actor to abandon their values for your entertainment isn’t ‘professionalism’ — it’s entitlement. Perhaps dipping into obsession and delusion a bit too.

And let’s be clear: he has done plenty of kiss scenes across multiple dramas. Some are lighter, some are deeper, and many he’s done himself. The idea that he “avoids” intimacy is just misinformation. He keeps it simple and classy — and that’s allowed. Not every love story needs to spell everything out in order to land. Some want it to be more explicit, but he’s allowed to have limits, and directors, scripts, and production all play a massive part in what ends up on screen ALSO.

At the end of the day, actors are human beings with a public-facing job — not public property. This whole ‘it’s your job, give us what we want’ mindset isn’t valid criticism, it’s projection. People aren’t advocating for the story; they’re just demanding their own preferences be met. And that’s not how boundaries — or good storytelling — work.

Anyways, all to say — I agree with you!

I love historical dramas more than modern ones because they usually have no exaggerating passionate kiss or intimate…
Exactly. Those scenes look romantic on screen, but for actors they’re usually awkward and super technical. When someone can create good chemistry without relying on all that, it shows real skill — and honestly, I respect them more as a person because they actually value their marriage and family.

Also, the whole ‘it’s their job, just suck it up’ take is wild. That’s like telling anyone in literally any profession that sacrificing their family or boundaries is just part of success — and if you don’t like it, don’t complain. That’s such backward thinking. People are allowed to pursue their craft without betraying their values, and it absolutely doesn’t justify putting unfair pressure on them to conform. Actors aren’t public commodities; they’re professionals with a public persona. Some folks really need to get their head out of the clouds and back into reality.

And honestly, once a drama starts throwing in nonstop kiss/bed scenes, the tension naturally disappears most of the time anyway. Good romance isn’t about showing everything — it’s about pacing and the way it is built. Overshare, and the spark’s gone. At the end of it all, true romance is rooted in connection and communication, not in how much sexual tension or lust a show can cram into every episode. It’s the emotional journey and the mutual understanding that make a love story unforgettable.

Some people have blurred love and lust into the same category, and it shows — there’s a real confusion out there about the difference. One thing I love about dramas is how they still treat them as two separate things. I hope that never disappears, and that we continue to get many, MANY romance dramas that choose this more tasteful approach. Long comment sorry - I digress!

It's really that medicine or he's just lying to her?
Oh that’s not so bad. I mean it’s pretty insulting and humiliating for her obviously, but I thought it was permanent so whew!

All valid points, but this isn’t something she can avoid. Her dad is too much of a creep and the damage goes too deep — she has to face it. It’s going to hurt, absolutely. Her entire reality will come crashing down, but it’s going to happen regardless. Assuming she can’t handle the truth feels pretty condescending, and honestly it just keeps taking power away from her the same way the gaslighting has. She has to deal with it either way, since her father (and her brother and master too) have been manipulating her since day one.

She could avoid it before Xiao Huan entered the picture — her whole world was built to keep her from ever questioning the illusion. But now the cracks are showing. And through no fault of his, he’s simply the catalyst. With or without Xiao Huan, this is her reality to face. She can’t run from it anymore, and honestly, avoiding it at this stage would be completely irresponsible.

And if she genuinely can’t handle the truth, then she shouldn’t be anywhere near a leadership role — much less out in the martial world fighting for “justice” — because that level of myopic naïveté is dangerous. She can’t just sit in self-pity forever, even if it’s unfair and valid. If she really cares about her cause, she’ll find a way to face reality and fight appropriately.

His tears...I'm so sad :(100% agree that CangCang is naive and I would say also blind and very confused person.…
she is too focused on her own hurt, she can’t see past it. definitely blind - and she never really asks good questions just feels sorry for herself

im not saying its not hard on her, or that she isnt in a tough spot, but she does need to wake up

Xiao Huan said it well - she is in the inner palace now, this isnt the martial world

It's really that medicine or he's just lying to her?
Oh yea, it would be interesting if this were all some elaborate ruse, but it doesn’t come off like that. At least not yet. He’s being firm because he knows her dad will rebel otherwise, and he’s clearly scared of dying and leaving both her and the kingdom completely exposed. I do think he could just work with her and manage her father somehow, but because of his illness maybe he can’t risk it. That pressure is driving his choices, sadly. Her father is a creep.

I wonder why he didnt demand the antidote from her father since he had evidence of the poison and then he wouldn’t have had to sacrifice his medicine. If nothing else I wish he would have just told her the situation and let her decide on her own at least. Ah it so sad.

This drama is truly driving me crazy. I know I'm coming for angst, but I never thought it would be this cruel.…
NGL that acting was insane. I felt for him on so many levels (and Cang Cang)

If he tells her the truth, the entire situation could actually collapse into something even worse. From her perspective,…
I mean the same is true if he doesn’t tell her the truth. She’ll be forced into a rude awakening either way, but it’ll be worse because he broke her trust to “protect” her a second time. Then the only actually trustworthy man in her life becomes that much harder for her to trust. There are definitely ways that they could work through this together. Or at the very least, give her all the facts and let her decide… or absolute bare minimum, give her some context.

Acting is 💯chef’s kiss tho — they’re doing an amazing job. 🌟

How does Cang Cang go from “I can’t trust anyone ever again” to instantly trusting her brother?? If you’re gonna commit to NOT trusting people, commit. If you’re gonna trust selectively, then take a breath, think things through, and get the facts before spiraling into another misunderstanding. Sis… at this point the plot is moving but her character development is not. Make it make sense.

And Xiao Huan… sir, STOP LYING. Learn from your mistakes. This girl desperately needs someone she can actually trust, so maybe try working with her instead of adding to the chaos? Ugh.

This show is a severe case of great actors stuck in a terrible script. The characters are just not likeable. I wanted to give it a real shot because the cast is talented and delivering, but honestly? I don’t see this plot or these character arcs getting any better. At this point it’s just talented actors carrying a sinking script. 🤦‍♀️

On The Prisoner of Beauty Nov 17, 2025
I’m not usually big on toxic or enemies-to-lovers storylines, but Prisoner of Beauty was better than I expected. The vibe is darker and more politically charged, but the leads really carry it — their chemistry, tension, and character growth make the story work even when the pacing gets uneven. The production is gorgeous, and the relationship ends up feeling more grounded and emotionally rich than a lot of dramas in this genre. Not my usual type of romance, but surprisingly decent and definitely worth a try. 9/10.

Title One and Only
A truly masterful drama. I’m torn about the ending — in some ways it feels necessary and true to the world, and in other ways I feel convinced the writer could have given us something less devastating while still doing justice to the characters. But the leads… they are everything. Deep, virtuous, compelling — the epitome of how tragic star-crossed lovers SHOULD be written. There is much to appreciate. 9/10 👏🏼🌹

It gets better and more engaging toward the end, but the slow build might not be for everyone. I didn’t mind it because I was still riding the coattails of O&O and appreciated the peaceful vibe. That said, it doesn’t carry the same impact as its predecessor and can feel a bit boring in the first half on its own. It does close the loop from the prequel—just not quite enough to give me the FULL emotional healing I was hoping (and longing) for. There is a lot to enjoy though if you’re willing to be patient with it, so I give this an 8.5/10 🕊️
