While I empathize with Wen Yifan *I do* think this plotline was very unnecessary and does not make much sense in some aspects (not in terms of her trauma with her assault) but in other ways. It’s valid to feel a bit frustrated cause this plot was not in the novel. So it’s just an annoying add on by the writers to erase the original conflict in the novel and make it more angsty for no reason lol. Today’s episodes are definitely a difficult watch but I’m excited and still love this drama to death. I can’t wait for episode 27! And I for one am not gonna hate Wen Yifan. She has been through a lot and she might not be thinking clearly right now. Currently she is only thinking about protecting her loved ones from a man who keeps haunting her. shes never had support or help. Is it a bit of regression? Yes. Is it dumb writing? Also yes. But it all works out so whateva! 🤷♀️
Okay heres detailed spoilers for episode 24. Episode 25 spoilers coming up after I finish!
Episode 24: continues where ep 23 left off, Wen Yifan comes home visibly upset, Sang Yan comforts her and tries to get her to open up cause he knows something is off, she doesn’t budge though. Sang Yan does go to Yihe like the novel to visit his sister and Wen Yifan sees him off at the airport. She goes home in tears and walks around their apartment thinking and reminiscing about Sang Yan and having her uncles words echo in her head. Proclaiming if she left he wouldn’t hurt Sang Yan and we repeatedly hear her say i’m sorry. The second lead couple arrive at their house to feed her cat and find her room emptied. They contact Sang Yan and he runs back home instantly and finds her room empty, hes visibility shaken by it and then he finds her letter in her vanity which says “Sang Yan, i’m in no position to ask you to forgive me for leaving without saying goodbye. It was like that last time, and it’s the same now. i don’t expect you to understand me, but please believe that I have reasons why I must leave. Do not miss or look for me. I wish you peace and joy in your future life. -shuangjiang.”

Sang Yan goes to the police station about her disappearance. Finds out her family doesn’t approve of their relationship and that she disappears often and is throwing “a tantrum” (🙄 terrible family) Sang Yan talks to Si Qiao and says he realizes shes a person with no family, Si Qiao says we are her family and Sang Yan says he hopes she feels the same way and that they have no idea everything that shes been through. He feels upset for maybe not making her think he’s trustworthy enough and chose to suffer alone again. Sang Yan is trying to find out information and answers about her past and where she could have gone, he talks to one of her old roommates at Yihe and visits Yihe Daily and finds out she was sexually harassed by a worker. He sticks up for her when the woman says young people always want to escape under pressure. He visits her old home and looks in her old room like the preview showed. He ends up visiting her moms house and sees the uncle driving off on his scooter, he tries to run him over. Wen Yifan texts Si Qiao to talk. Si Qiao tells her to think about her and Sang Yan and that he isn’t bright, energetic and bubbly like she described and he’s looking all over for her. At this point it’s clear she left because shes scared her uncle will harm the people closest to her.
This episode basically had zero focus on the grandparents or second couple besides a few small scenes of the second lead couple.

sadly this is an entirely different plotline that wasnt in the novel but based off the ep 27 preview she tells him everything in the hotel just like the novel scene. we just got this hong kong hiccup in between.

i’ll let you know after i’ve finished to make sure i got the right context but just based off the preview for 26 im afraid our worst fears may have come true…and she does leave…for a significant amount of time 😭but ep 27 is where they reunite.
