Absolutely nutty!

I honestly don't know what I just watched. The ML does not communicate with the FL and leaves her out of the plan, hurting her feelings and making her seem like a dumbass. This is a constant and repeating problem throughout the 34 episodes like c'mon bruh, ain't that your discipline so please COMMUNICATE. Then magically the plan works accordingly to the ML's intentions and wow, praises goes out to the ML for his superior intelligence. FL then realizes she just needs to sit back, relax, and let daddy deal with these issues and occasionally sending her away bc she's weak and can't protect herself. Also how did Tilan fell in love with the emperor, especially when he treated her like shit and messed the fuck out of her health. No girl, say BYE to his toxic ass!!! Watch this drama if you want to see an overload of toxic masculinity, support violent/abusive relationships, and love cringyass lines and romance. I cringed so much throughout the 34 episodes, especially during the "romantic" scenes between the ML and FL bc it's so nasty.

what the helly is happening

dropping this because i honestly don't know what the helly is going on and i don't really care tbh. the politics is so convoluted and there's too many characters. the beginning 12ish episodes were great (and the best part of the drama) but the execution for the remaining ones bamboozled me. quite frankly, a waste of time. after the war started, i completely lost interest in the romantic dynamic between FL and ML. chang yu's storyline fell a bit flat and it felt super fake how she was so strong because her father had literally taught her a technique that she reuses over and over again like c'mon, that's not how it works you simple minded simpleton. and then magically, she becomes a general, fights a literal war, and beats other men who have way more of a battlefield experience because of late daddy's special technique. like, where was the actual training, failure, or growth to make that believable? during her fight in ep30, she literally recalls two advice that was told to her abt her fighting skills and suddenly she goes super saiyan and kills the man. nothing about it felt built up properly, so by the end it just felt silly instead of satisfying. i also cringe everytime she says she'll kill pigs to raise the ML.

underwhelming

originally had high expectations but the drama came out to be extremely underwhelming. how did the police suddenly decide who the prime suspect was? oh yeah, bc he radiates MC energy and he's kinda hot. it makes absolutely no sense how the actual "murderer" was able to get away with everything like where's the logic and years of technological advancement. honestly, the police are just NPCs and literal pawns at this point. good plot, terrible execution. would have probably been more engaging if the audience was progressively revealed to who the killer was rather than automatically revealing it bc i was bored af.

engaging and unique

i enjoyed this far more than I expected, honestly. the premise is disarmingly simple yet genuinely clever, and beautifully executed. it feels like the kind of concept dreamed up by someone old enough to remember the pre-digital good ol' days, and that nostalgia comes through so clearly in the show’s dna. my favorite was asahi nanami. she’s magnetic on screen, and the rest of the cast is equally engaging in their own ways. by the end, I found myself almost believing in fate. strange but kind of the point.
