BIG SPOILERS!! EPISODE BY EPISODE THOUGHTS!
Dare I say one of the best modern dramas of all time? The tension, mutual understanding, and protective behavior between Jin Zhao and Jiang Mu are unmatched. Jin Zhao’s caring and playful side only emerges around Jiang Mu—his smiles, crinkling eyes, and quiet devotion rarely show for anyone else. They are opposites who fit perfectly. He knows what she needs before she even says a word.He Yu and Yu Shuxin embodied these roles flawlessly. Their chemistry is undeniable, on-screen and off. Interviews and variety shows show their banter and shared energy. When I imagine Jin Zhao, I see He Yu; when I imagine Jiang Mu, I see Yu Shuxin. PLEASE 2ND COLLABORATION!
Jiang Mu is strong, independent, loyal, and loving. She never gives up, ultimately ensuring their happily ever after. A TikTok perfectly sums up Jin Zhao: “Having a boyfriend like Jin Zhao is not for the weak. He’s literally the standard. Husband material. He knows how to cook, has emotional intelligence, can protect you, spoil you, drive, manage time, box, race, fix things, is loyal, brave, strong, handsome, smart, and only yearns for you.” Perfectly said.

His whisper of 乖 (guai guai) while holding her close melts the tension. Sun and moon symbolism shows their eternal bond: he’s her constant, her protector, her equal. Their banter, touches, and secret smiles weave humor, intimacy, and raw emotion seamlessly. The chemistry is electric, but the love is deeply grounded.
Episode 26:

Episode 28:
Mike third-wheel humor adds levity, but Jin Zhao’s focus never wavers. He sacrifices racing, confronts his fears and PTSD, all for her safety and happiness. His words, “Two hearts defying wind and rain together, resisting a broken life,” are poetic yet perfectly encapsulate their journey. Head-holding hug: protective, intimate, grounding. Emotional honesty with Jiang Mu’s mother shows bravery, respect, and true commitment. Every glance, gentle push, and teasing smile signals a love that is strong, unshakable, and matured by trials. The stakes are high, yet their connection remains unbreakable, emphasizing devotion over drama.
Episode 29:
Reconciliation with her mother is emotionally profound—first parental hug for Jin Zhao, symbolizing acceptance and validation. Quiet proposal, ring on keychain, intimate and symbolic—no grandeur needed because their relationship is built on depth, history, and understanding. Elopement feels perfect: carefree yet emotionally complete, mirroring their personalities and journey. Jin Zhao’s devotion is evident in his patience, bravery, and willingness to create a life with Jiang Mu against all odds. Shared dreams, mutual respect, whispered promises, and lingering touches make this payoff both satisfying and cathartic. The ending emphasizes love as a daily choice, a partnership grounded in trust, protection, playfulness, and enduring passion. Their journey is now complete—emotionally, physically, and symbolically.

MAJOR SPOILERS!!
This was a masterpiece literally! Everything was so pretty when it came to this drama. The actors' visuals, the setting, the music, and the story were all done so well. This story flew so harmoniously that I couldn't stop watching. This is definitely a drama where you have to binge watch it because you just can't stop. I also loved the HAPPY ending, thank goodness. I don't think I could have dealth with a sad ending for these 2 characters. They just went through so much together, so they deserved their happy ending. This drama also came full circle at the end which was so comforting to see.PS. Hou Minghao and Lu Yuxiao are the perfect pairing. The natural chemistry and banter that they are able to engage in around each other is so refreshing to see. Their personalities just connect perfectly with eachother. ❤️❤️
BIG SPOILERS NEXT:
"My love for you isn't just a little. You don't know how much I care about you. My heart just has you in it." That whole bath scene was so touching, with Ji Bozai realizing that Ming Yi loves him too. And his softened gaze after hearing that. The way that they both claim to not have any feelings, but then always show up for each other. Ming Yi is so strong too as a person.
Bro, when 27 died...I sobbed (I wrote this before I knew he comes back). Genuinely, he was such a strong support system for Ming Yi and always showed up for her physically and emotionally. Also, him and Bu Xiu's relationship is not talked about enough.
AHHH...骗子(pianzi), finally the famous saying (also Ji Bozai's smile:)). That scene was amazing. Ji Bozai realizing that he knows who she truly is and her still trying to be in denial.
"You're far more important to me than I imagined." Aww...Ji Bozai's teasing with Ming Yi is so cute. I love the parallel between her getting poisoned through her favorite food and then Ji Bozai secretly giving her the antidote through her favorite food too. His smile when doing that was so genuine.
I don't know how to feel about Situ Ling. For one, I feel bad for him because he spends so much time and effort to save Ming Yi. But, also I don't know where that care comes from. Because with Ji Bozai, you can clearly see that he is doing it to help Ming Yi no matter what. Even with giving her the Golden Millet Dream, he never told her that he did it and even let her believe that Situ Ling helped heal her. This is because Ji Bozai doesn't care about who gets the credit as long as Ming Yi is healthy. I mean, yes, he did get jealous, but he still didn't reveal his actions. But, Situ Ling is not the same. He wants to use his help in order to gain Ming Yi's favor.
Also, oh my goodness. The plot twist is insane. Ji Bozai is poisoned by the Heavenly Grief, but gave the only antidote meant for him to Ming Yi without even batting an eye. It could poison him at any time, but he didn't care about himself. That is actual true love. Not only that, but Ming Yi is the daughter of Bo Yuchen and Master Shen!!!
What in the world is this 2nd plot twist? Broo..Ji Bozai has suffered through so much, always getting abandoned by everyone around him. He relapsed with the Heavenly Grief to save Ming Yi and even through sacrificing their love did he save Ming Yi from having to see him in that state. Ji Bozai is always thinking of other people.
"We live together and we die together." That literally summarizes their relationship. The last battle was so harmonious and beautifully done. You can fully see the trust they have in each other.
Side Note: I also loved the little bit of the relationship we got to see between Yan Xiao and the Princess. It was so sweet, as they have always been each other's support system to them growing into a couple.

“It doesn’t matter what you do or where you might be, I just will always love you for you.” “I want to stay by your side a long time. And watch you become even greater than you are.”
“She deserves the best experiences and that is something that I can offer.”
“Life is precious. So while we have the chance, let’s love each other with no regrets.”
“You always lead me to good places and tell me what the right thing to do is.” — YES, THAT IS LITERALLY EXACTLY WHAT LOVE IS ABOUT.
My emotions were on a rollercoaster through this 16-episode story. First off, their kiss in the snow was perfect — chef’s kiss.
Secondly, this drama is not only about the romance:
Baek Yi-Jin once said, “If you fail to live your dream, it doesn’t mean you’re a failure. And I don’t think living your dream means you’ve succeeded either.”
That one line captures the message of this drama, when it is about love, growing up, finding yourself, and realizing that even the most beautiful things in life don’t always last forever.
If I had to summarize the entire drama in one line, it would be this: “A crazy friendship and an intense love. Because it’s those brief moments that make a long life shine.” This drama hits hard when thinking about nostalgia. It makes you remember what it felt like to be young and to believe that the people beside you would be there forever. It’s a show that teaches children to cherish our youth, because those fleeting days of laughter, love, and mistakes are what shape who we become.
And can we talk about the found family aspect? Every single member of that friend group were pieces of each other’s lives. It was comforting and painful all at once, watching how time slowly drifted them apart, but their memories stayed to tell this story.
I have to admit that I recognize that the lesson of Twenty-Five Twenty-One isn’t about getting a happy ending. It’s about realizing that some people are meant to come into your life for a season, to teach you something, to love you fiercely for a time, and then sadly let you go. It’s about finding peace in that, even if it hurts.
But still… the ending absolutely destroyed me. The things they said to each other, the way they looked at one another, knowing they still loved each other but couldn’t stay. I will never forgive the writers for not letting them end up together. And then the replays — all their old scenes flashing back, the tears in their eyes during that final interview, their last hug, and Baek Yi-Jin’s password reset. Oh man...I couldn't hold it together in that last episode.
Twenty-Five Twenty-One teaches us that love doesn’t have to last forever to be real, rather, it just has to be felt. The memories they shared, the laughter, the friendship, the heartbreak is what makes life meaningful. It’s the kind of drama that makes you cry, smile, and think about your own past all at once. A masterpiece!

UNDERRATED!!!!
This is such an underrated drama. You don’t hear many ppl talking about it, but it’s actually so comforting to watch. There’s no misunderstanding, no breakups, no drama. Just plain romance, found family, and such a good community for all the characters to grow up in. I loved it, it was so sweet. The only thing I would say is I think for there being no misunderstandings or anything, 33 episodes was a little bit much. Also, there were certain parts that were a little bit repetitive because the drama is so problem free. But overall, I LOVED their relationship and how healthy it was. This is literally everyone’s dream relationship and man.
Qiang Qingci being the name of the male lead is either really coincidental or planned. Tan Jianci being the main lead and his name sounds just like his character. I’ve watched like Hi6 with Tan Jianci and for some reason, his voice is so much deeper in this drama. I don’t think it’s dubbed for Qiang Qingci, which is pretty impressive especially with the singing parts. Tan Jianci’s voice is so beautiful. Same with whoever dubs Zhou Ye’s singing parts.
Tan Jianci and Zhou Ye both have such big doe eyes, which rlly makes their gazes really emotional and sweet. When they had the scene where Qiang Qingci was watching Gu Sheng sing at the 10th anniversary at Perfect Voice, their gazes were captivating. They’re both so in love.
Qiang Qingci is such a green flag, he can literally do everything. Cook, clean, sing, narrate, drive, and he’s a doctor too.
Why is this drama so cute? From the first episode, the love at first sight trope works in this drama. Usually, I don’t like it, but it’s so sweet. Both of them fell in love with the other through their voices. Qiang Qingci’s dubbing deep voice and then Gu Sheng’s singing voice at the supermarket.
They make each other so happy even if they haven’t met in person yet. Every time they talk to each other, their smiles are so big and genuine. Especially for someone like Qiang Qingci who doesn’t really openly express his emotions, his interest in Gu Sheng is really new and different.
Their first meeting at the recording studio was filmed perfectly. It wasn’t too exaggerated, but it was definitely emotionally reassuring. I’m also so glad that they were both happy with the other person, as they had coincidentally met before. Their gazes and eyes make other people feel like no one else is in the room and it’s just them interacting. Qiang Qingci is really caring too, making sure Gu Cheng feels comfortable.
I love all of their interactions. Them cooking for each other and the trip was so cute. They spent so much time together. Episode 17 where they were about to kiss…ugh I’m waiting for it. Qiang Qingci is actually the most unproblematic caring bf. The fact he’s never had a relationship but knows exactly how to care for his gf. His voice is also so soft spoken when talking to her. Gu sheng is so lucky. But Gu Sheng is also such a good gf. She’s always thinking of Qiang Qingci, I loved when she came over and cared for him when he was sick. So comforting.
Awwww…their first kiss was so cute in episode 19. It wasn’t anything special, just a peck, but for some reason, it’s one of the most wholesome first kisses ever. AUGGHH I CANT. Op. I spoke too soon. Their second kiss was pretty spicy. Against the glass door in public though…the tension lowk pretty high. Qiang Qingci’s breathy voice when talking during that part ahhh.
I also love the 2nd couple. Zhou Zheng is like the unexpected good bf that you wouldn’t think is a good bf. They’re lowk both shy and their interactions are really cute together. It’s like so awkward that it’s cute. Everything is like love at first sight for all the couples 💕
- Also though, Zhou Zheng made such a good point that I feel like a lot of people go through in real life. He was scared to start something because he didn’t want to jeopardize their friendship just in case their relationship ended. That’s such a big factor to consider when coming to terms with one’s feelings. Like, is it worth it? Would I rather have them as a friend instead of risk it? Or is it worth the risk? I loved that conflict from Zhou Zheng, it felt so genuine.
I also love the 3rd “couple”, Feng Yasong and Doudou Jie. They’re so unexpected, but their chemistry works so well. Doudou jie also deserves to be with someone caring and Feng Yasong is that guy. He’s like a little puppy but will take care of you. I wish we would’ve got to see more of them and their dating story. AWWWW…when he finally confessed and they just simply held hands in silence. They’re so cuteeeeee.
This is such a healing drama. When the rain was super bad and Gu Sheng was stuck in the supermarket, she didn’t want Qiang Qingci to worry, so she pretended like she was already at home. But, Qiang Qingci knows her better than that and figured out that she was still at the supermarket alone. So, he drove in the thundering rain to come stay with her to protect her and keep her safe. They both try to make the other as worry free as possible. This is what reciprocity should be like in a relationship.
The part when Qiang Qingci decided to step back from the spotlight of dubbing and singing, I actually got super emotional. I loved the way his last performance was portrayed. The emotion of all his years and time spent in this business and he’s deciding to let it go. The way he bowed towards the entire crowd and then stayed to watch every fan leave. He’s such a mature person and his perspectives of everything are always so caring and understanding of others.
Why was the proposal so nonchalant bruh? In bed, just talking. Lowk tho, the timeline is kinda insane. They barely met in person, have only dated for a little while and are getting married.😭😭 I mean, technically they didn’t confirm it until 2 years later, but he still proposed the question. But, when Qiang Qingci explained how he knew it was her voice..AHHHHHH. The way they met by complete chance and Qiang Qingci being completely in love with her voice when she first sang, literally, it was love at first voice.

WOW! Episode by Episode
Lu Yuxiao can play anything, whether it be modern or historical. And this was my first drama with Chen Xingxu in it and it did not disappoint at all.
Episode 1: Who would ever break up with my girl, Lu Yuxiao? Idiot. Chen Xingxu’s entrance was ethereal. Him in the prince outfit. The setting is beautiful in this drama. The snow and the modern looking almost New York looking city. Him protecting her from the guards and the quick handwork that he did to get the gun away from her. Holy. The aura from Xingxu with his business trench coat and glasses. Oops. He wasn’t helping her in the game, he was plotting against her. Side note: her saying “pianzi” in the first episode reminded of LITC.
Episode 2: Hu Xiu is so smart. I love that she’s such an independent woman who knows what she wants and won’t back down. Ughhh I hate when they just miss meeting each other by a second. Again, love how Hu Xiu stands up for herself with her ex’s mother.
Episode 3: Awww Zhiyu’s genuine concern for Hu Xiu after she got scared of the new haunted house setting. Then, the flowers that appeared, so pretty. He separated from his character in the game for that bit of time and it showed his genuine care for her. I fear we are getting a forced proximity trope with them living in the same small apartment. The way they were both on call with their friends to figure out the rooming situation😭😭
Episode 4: Xiuxiu is such a compassionate person. She gave Zhiyu allergy medicine when she heard that he was allergic. She’s so smart too, figuring out it was actually Zhiyu renting her place. He’s pretty smart too though as he instantly found out that she knew after she slipped up in pretending to check the furniture. Match made in heaven - a smart one at that. Aw, I feel so bad for Xiuxiu. She brought her whole design and showed her passion, but was only offered an assistant position. Zhiyu, please help Xiuxiu and give her a position at ur company. Xiuxiu showing up for Zhiyu and standing up for him with the neighbors, then him showing her the architectural work she’s been doing. This is building up to him and her working together, I just know it. She doesn’t even know she’s talking to the designer of Galaxy Bookstore. And then when she understood the meaning behind his name…their emotional connection and lives are so interconnected even if she doesn’t know it yet. She’s so strong for pursuing her career dreams and staying true to them.
Episode 5: YES!! I guessed right, she got an interview at her dream studio and Zhiyu is the founder. It was so cute when she was celebrating her interview and he was sitting right beside her knowing he was the reason. Then, in person when she saw him and realized he was the founder, his smug look was so funny. The interviewer partner lady tried to trick her and see if she knew how to speak English. Her English ended up being even better than the partner’s in my personal opinion. The look on Zhiyu’s face was like “She can even speak English, what else do I not know abt her that she can do?” Xiuxiu is just perfect basically. (side note: it’s super impressive how Lu Yuxiao can speak English with almost a perfect British accent). UGH, I love this detail they added. Xiuxiu told Zhiyu how much she wanted to show the last company her design and work that she did, but they didn’t even care. I loved how he did and asked her to show him it and explain it. He really values her work. Oh my goodness, the trama that Zhiyu went through, which is why he is so serious abt the safety of architecture.
Episode 6: When they were having a heart to heart on the balcony, he was actually pretty sweet. I loved how he said that he didn’t focus on her shortcomings but rather everything screamed “potential.” He saw an opportunity and took a chance with her and I’m sure he’s not going to regret it. Who would’ve thought? Xiuxiu’s ex is Zhiyu’s friends new groom. That man didn’t deserve Xiuxiu anyway.
Episode 7: Xiuxiu’s ex is a cheater too, not only someone who leaves behind Xiuxiu. Wow, Xiuxiu’s dedication to her job is admirable. She fell, lost her shoes, and risked her safety just to get the sample designs to Zhiyu. I love how Zhiyu is so observant. He instantly noticed that she had no shoes. YES! I love how Zhiyu came back and got Xiuxiu to get her revenge on Qiran’s family especially that mother. He knew how strong she was meant to be and he’s helping Xiuxiu achieve and channel that strength. His care is like dominant but gentle love. Zhiyu definitely holds grudges and he helped Xiuxiu stand her ground with Qiran. Not only that, but Zhiyu was constantly checking on Xiuxiu making sure that she was ok cus he knew how emotionally distraught she still will be. Zhiyu even asked for Xiuxiu’s permission before accepting Qiran’s toast. AHHH!! He even confronted Qiran’s mom without hesitation. The confidence that Zhiyu emanates is one of his best qualities.
Episode 8: Again, we see XiuXiu’s dedication to her job. She truly is one of the hardest working junior designers in the company. I love the part where Zhiyu drove in the rain to pick up Xiuxiu out of his rival company’s car. That slide in front of them to stop the car. Him getting out. The powerful walk with the umbrella. I love how Zhiyu cleared up that misunderstanding about trust, even if it’s in the game. The fact he let her get so close means he fully trusts her already.
Episode 9: When they met again in the game, Hu Xiu helped Zhiyu win this time. It shows the change in character from the time that they have spent together. “I believe in my dreams. My intuition. And I believe my intuition told me you would win. I will not betray my instincts nor will I betray you.” Those words are so powerful even if said in a game. Wow. Hu Xiu being strong again and standing up for her friend against that jerk. Then her almost getting crushed by a statue, but Zhiyu saving her and taking the hit to his own arm whic is his prized possession as an architect. And then she restated that sentence that means so much to him: “I won’t betray you.” We are officially getting the forced proximity trope with them living in the same apartment.
Episode 10: I know that Pei Zhen is the villain, but he did hep the girls with the matter of that weird guy. The move he does with his glasses too is sort of giving me second lead syndrome, but not rlly. I’m in full support of Zhiyu still. The first thing Zhiyu asked after hearing about her almost crashing his car is if she’s ok herself. Awww that was sweet. Zhiyu took care of the onions, the flowers, and he even had to watch a video to learn how to plant them. He’s so husband coded because he understands how distraught Xiuxiu is, so he doesn’t force her to do anything that is not good for her. He somehow knows how to distract her by letting her work and forget about all the stress in her life.
Episode 11: That dinner was definitely a date. He also got so jealous after thinking she was standing him up for a blind date. He knows her so well, encouraging her to go resolve her issues with her parents. She didn’t even have to say her third wish and he knew what it was. I’m so glad Zhiyu did though because her dad finally accepted her dreams. Everything is resolved and you can see that it’s such a big burden taken off her shoulders.
Episode 12: Zhiyu and Xiuxiu both understand each other in such a healthy way. She helped distract him from the project almost getting messed up and was willing to work overtime. I loved it when everyone from the team started showing up on their day off to work on this project together. It shows how much of an actual team they are. AURA. When Zhiyu walked in with Hu Xiu behind him to the competition. OH MY GOODNESS. He practically confessed his feelings to Xiuxiu through the competition, admitting she was his inspiration. And they incorporated the VR aspect where they first met too, and time basically keeps on flowing, allowing them to immerse themselves.
Episode 13: WHAT THE HECK. PLOT TWIST. Pei Zhen and Xiao Zhiyu are non-biologically related brothers. I don’t know if this makes the competition between them better or worse. Holy, the tension is ramping up. Xiuxiu is truly Zhiyu’s light in the darkness. She gets him out of his dark thoughts with her bright face and smile. Zhiyu noticed that she would always play with her fingers when she’s upset.
Episode 14: WHOO! I see you Xiao Zhiyu, after the kiss, he starts to tease Xiuxiu a lot more now that he knows her real feelings.
Episode 15: Wow, Xiuxiu looked so pretty in that glittering white dress. Same with Zhiyu in his black and white suit. They really look good together. Zhiyu getting jealous over Xiuxiu and Pei Zhen dancing together. I love how Xiuxiu’s family took Zhiyu in like their own for the New Years. Especially since his family isn’t really there for him, the way he has this second family to rely on is super sweet.
Episode 16: Awww, Zhiyu rejected her confession and hit her with an “I’m going to move out soon.” I felt so bad for her when she started rubbing her fingers together again. I think Zhiyu is just scared of that commitment, trust, and deep feeling he’s starting to get from being around her. He doesn’t want to get distracted from his goal. Bro there’s no way that the second couple ML is cheating. With his school junior too? Really? He’s going to give up such a good wife who is willing to do anything and sacrifice anything for him, in turn for a young girl who doesn’t know anything about loyalty. Even if it was a misunderstanding, why did it take so long for him to push her off from him when she kissed him?
Episode 17: Even when Xiuxiu and Zhiyu aren’t really talking to each other, he’s still there for her. He stayed behind and his presence is always just there for her. He cares either way, he just needs to figure out how to express it. OOOOOHHHH…I know this isn’t the time or place but I sense a new second lead couple. Gong Huaicong has been helpful for Xiao Rou whether she admits it or not. I sense it…just wait.
Episode 18: Pei Zhen was meant to be the villain and I’m not saying he’s the greatest person. However, I do think that he is forced into a bad situation and has to do his best to adapt. I think that Xiuxiu sees that, which is why she is still so nice and compassionate towards Pei Zhen. She inspires him towards positive change. I do have to say though, I feel a little bit for Guangming. I know the relationship just wasn’t working, but I think he truly loved their relationship while it lasted and was always trying to make their future better.
Episode 19: I sense a confession scene coming form Zhiyu and Hu Xiu. He didn’t allow her to get married even if it’s in the game. “Picking other people is wrong. You should choose me and we can win together.” HU XIU DO YOUR THING. CONFESS!!! UGHHH SO CLOSE BUT NOT ENOUGH. Come on, Zhiyu. Be a man and confess. AHHH YESSSS I KNEW HE WASNT GOING TO LET HER GO. OMG BETTER THAN IMAGINED HE WENT RIGHT IN FOR THE KISS AGAINST THE WALL. HOLYYYYY!!!!! Now, move back in together, date, and live happily ever after. When she asked Zhiyu if they were in a relationship, I love his reply. “I’m not like someone. Someone kissed me and brushed it off as an accident. I take full responsibility for my actions.” His confession was so heartfelt. But I hate how the subtitles always translate 我喜欢你 to “I love you.” It means “I like you” in most situations, but it makes it seem like they’re already telling each other “I love you.”😭😭 I also just noticed that one of the OSTs is a rendition of “Can’t help falling in love”. I love the mandarin version remix though. DANG! He said he was almost 30 so he’s not playing childish games, so instead of a forehead stamp, he went directly in for a kiss.
Episode 20: Well, I guess Zhiyu didn’t cover the camera well enough cus now everyone knows. Awww the desk and tie scene was really cute. I lied, I don’t like Pei Zhen anymore. How dare he talk abt Hu Xiu to his parents when Xiuxiu has said she doesn’t feel anything for him. That’s putting her in a really awkward position. Same with Zhiyu, I wish he revealed they were dating already.
Episode 21: The second lead couple is developing. I can sense it. The scene with them 4 eating together at the cafe, why do I feel like it’s not scripted? Their laughs were so natural. Zhiyu when he’s jealous is so cute, and the small kisses that Hu Xiu gave him. Not only is this relationship sweet but it’s deep too. Hu Xiu encourages Zhiyu to face his fears and deal with his trauma healthily step by step. Her playing piano was such a nice touch, especially to the OST and it being a gift from his dad.
Episode 22: Xiao Zhiyu trusted Xiuxiu enough to tell her about his dad and why he was so scared that something happened to her. He revealed how much Xiuxiu has helped him stay grounded in reality. I love when they show the more emotional sides of their relationship. Aww he got woman’s slippers for her once she visited for the first time. He also finally stocked his refrigerator. He’s doing it to protect her too. He noticed that strange car always hanging around her, so he wants to keep her safe. Ugh he cherished her so much. Ohhh it makes so much sense now. It was Pei Zhen’s dad. Bro, Pei Zhen has the wrong idea. He needs to know that Hu Xiu doesn’t like him in any way and he’s only messing with her life. I love how Zhiyu is so serious when it comes to protecting her.
Episode 23: What the heck bro, everyone was having such a good time. The concert and everything. Then, everything comes crashing down. Identities are revealed, Hu Xiu’s dad gets into an accident, and Zhiyu’s reputation is at risk. Please work through this together. Come on, my two. I knew the relationship was too simple and easy. I still love how Zhiyu dropped evehrbting considering his own identity and helped Hu Xiu with her dad. He quietly did all the paperwork for Hu Xiu’s dad and everything regardless of his whole future being affected. Pei Zhen is actually the most jealous person in the world. There’s a reason Zhiyu always gets the better things and accomplishes more. Cus he’s jsut a better person.
Episode 24: I gotta say, I feel for both Zhiyu and Hu Xiu. She’s just trying to protect her family and stop herself from causing her dad even more trouble. He’s trying to make sense of it all and is getting dragged into his dads actions.
Episode 25: YES! They made up. I loved how their miscommunication/breakup length was technically only 1 episode. And even throughout that episode; they were still there for each other. They both defended each other and tried to help with the cause no matter if their cases were direct opposites. I loved when Zhiyu confronted Pei Zhen abt his narcissistic actions when he KNOWS Hu Xiu doesn’t feel anything for him.
Episode 26: Wow, there’s no way Pei Zhen’s dad is willing to kill ppl just to manipulate his kids. What the heck is this plot twist!? He killed Zhiyu’s dad!!!!??? Oh heck no, he deserves to be in jail forever. All of this was made possible with Hu Xiu’s detective skills I would like to add. Wow, Chen Xingxu’s acting was amazing in this episode.
Episode 27: Awww they’re so cute together. Her heartfelt talk with her shows just how much he helped her find her goals in life. He pushed her, supported her, and gave her happiness at the same time. Awww… Pei Zhen coming to his senses. His “I’m sorry” hit rlly deep. I hoe he can find inspiration and love a happy life himself. He was trapped and now, he deserves better.
Episode 28: Awww he came back just to say bye to her without their coworkers. His little head rubs.

Like yes! The slow buildup and emotional tension completely won me over. Duan Jiaxu is honestly one of the best male leads, he is so protective, caring, and always wanting the best for her. Their chemistry was sweet without feeling forced, and the way their relationship developed felt so natural. The age gap didn't really bother me in this drama and I totally loved the dynamic between them having to hide their relationship from Sang Yan. Also, I totally cried during the airport scene when she misunderstood that he had a girlfriend — that moment broke me. Such a wholesome drama overall. Was this review helpful to you?

Overall, I absolutely loved this drama. Wang Anyu and Liu Haocun had such good chemistry together. I really think this drama shows how you never know who will end up being your person and how much a relationship can change one person. Chen Luzhou's whole character, purpose, and meaning of life changed with Xu Zhi. Honestly, I didn't think I would love this as much as I did. I was hooked to every episode and I love how mature CLZ turned out to be. Their relationship really felt like a true, mature relationship that has to deal with the ups and downs in life. CLZ is so thoughtful when it comes to Xu Zhi. All the things he did for her that are connected to her mom (architecture building, letter written to her) shows how deeply he cares about Xu Zhi. Also, that rain scene was probably one of the best made tension filled scenes. The OST playing in the back with Zhou Shen, the rain, and their hands on the glass. I love how CLZ always pulls her against a wall. This drama was lowk kind of shameless too. Some of the comments insinuated are really funny considering this is a Cdrama. The way they say “想得美” (xiǎng de měi) to each other when they would make unfiltered comments was such a nice touch. And when CLZ came back from Europe, that first gaze was so emotion-filled. You could tell none of them forgot about the other. I also love the found family. Xu Zhi’s dad is such a warm, kind presence. He even made Kung Pao Chicken without peanuts for CLZ because of his allergy, which is something CLZ’s own family never even remembered.

Decent
The Rational LifeWang Hedi - Qi Xiao
Qin Lan - Shen Ruo Xin
From the very beginning of this drama, I love Qi Xiao as a character. I also love Shen Ruoxin as a character as well. I think they are both perfect for each other in terms of personality. Qi Xiao is definitely that golden retriever, sort of innocent and naive young guy who is trying to find true love while having a very optimistic view on life. Shen Ruoxin is that powerful businesswoman who needs someone to lighten up her own life and provide her with some goofy times and just relaxation. I also love their relationship in the beginning (I’m on episode 11) with Qi Xiao always being there for Ruoxin and vice versa.
I also love the main message that both of these characters are conveying. Shen Ruoxin fits that very typical role of being a woman who is urged to live her life a certain way to fit within societal expectations. I really don’t like Ruoxin’s mother though. She always yells at Ruoxin for not telling her anything, but then getting mad everytime that Ruoxin tells her something she doesn’t want to hear. Qi Xiao is that individual who was forced to mature and become independent for his family, due to circumstances that he couldn’t contorl.
I got to say though, there has already been some tensions that are building up between them two. The scene where Qi Xiao is helping Ruoxin sew and fix her dress/romper that doesn’t quite fit was so tension-filled. Him having to cinch the dress at her waist and wrap his arms around her to get the measurements. Also, I love how Wang Hedi portrays those scenes with Ruoxin trying on new clues. The amazement and just awe in Qi Xiao’s eyes when looking at Ruoxin is like he’s looking at the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen.
Ok, I have to talk about episode 13 specifically. Mr. Xu tried to confess his feelings to Shen Ruoxin with this very elaborate flower pathway, rooftop dinner, and crazily epensive necklace. But, Shen Ruoxin stood her ground with her own morals and values, which I absolutely loved. She stated that she wanted to rise to the top on her own instead of being dragged up there by someone else. So, she rejected almost the “dream” life that any other woman may want if they’re focused on status and money. Instead, she went back and celebrated her birthday with her true friends, a smaller rooftop party, skewers to eat, and then Qi Xiao’s handmade jewlery based off one of her own telescopic images. This gift was a whole lot less expensive and more thoughtful than Mr. Xu’s. Shen Ruoxin accepeted this one with no issue and loved the thought behind it. I just absolutely love the decisions that Shen Ruoxin made in that moment with her two different options.
I just finished episode 19 and I definitely have some thoughts. First off, that whole thing with their car exhibition and the forgetting car seats mistake. I don’t know why I teared up when I saw Qi Xiao coming along with his motorcycle and saving the day. This scene just really solidified for me, his endless dedication and determination to make Ruoxin’s life the best it can be. He quite literally saved the day by doing that and I know Ruoxin could feel it too. BUT THEN SHE DECIDES TO LEAVE….HELLO! I know that Ruoxin was also hesitant and wanted Qi Xiao to come along, but obviously Qi Xiao’s mother needs his help in Shanghai and that makes sense. I just am so sad to see that relationship fade away for a bit at least while she is all the way in Shenzhen. Qi Xiao and Ruoxin’s dynamic just worked so well and he was always there to support her and she supported him as well. They just got each other. Plus, I don’t know how I feel about Ruoxin leaving with Mr. Xu. I can’t help but have this feeling that he has an ulterior motive for bringing Ruoxin away from her family and from Qi Xiao. I think Ruoxin’s mother feels that too, which is why she was so apprehensive and gave Mr. Xu that speech. Mothers always know best, so I just hope that this move doesn’t become a disaster for Ruoxin.
Finally, they confessed during a rainstorm while locked in the office out of all places. The confession was really heartfelt on Qi Xiao’s side and I do understand Shen Ruoxin’s hesitation at first but I’m glad that she decided to just say yes and do something a little bit irrational. However, I have to say…they get together around episode 27 and idk why it is, but I instantly got bored. This is one of those dramas where I don’t really care about their dating era because I didn’t fall in love with the characters or environment of this drama. Now, this is just a watch I kind of have to get through if you know what I mean.
Ok, a little skip ahead…maybe a lot. I’m at episode 32 now and this is the plot point that annoys me with every age gap drama. For some reason, it’s always the woman being older than the man. But, I really hated Shen Ruoxin’s actions during this episode. The way that she is 12 years older, but less mature when handling her own relationship really just pisses me off. She really doesn’t get the issue with her old childhood classmate interfering in her relationship so much and giving Qi Xiao these insecurities that should be resolved by Ruoxin herself, yet she hasn’t even talked to him about it herself. Furthermore, I hated the way that she was acting like everything was fine. She should know Qi Xiao enough to know that he was upset over something and that something is that everyone is treating him like a baby when he is being more mature than Shen Ruoxin. I also hated Ruoxin’s childhood classmate bro. The way he was so insanely condescending towards Qi Xiao and acted like he was a much better option when we know that Ruoxin would never go for him. I ALSO HATED THE MOTHER THESE PAST 2 EPISODES. Bro, Shen Ruoxin’s mother is actually insane. She starts flipping Ruoxin’s house to look for evidence of her and Qi Xiao dating and crashes out, then goes and asks why she doesn’t tell her things. Qi Xiao’s mother is the prime example of what a mother should be like, believing in their own child. These past couple episodes, Qi Xiao’s side of the family really pulled through.
“The universe’s only miracle is love.” I did rlly like the ending of this drama though. I thought that both Qi Xiao and Ruoxin handled their miscommunication rlly well. Not only that, but I loved Qi Xiao’s whole jewelry design and the meaning/story behind it. I do think that Qi Xiao is a more thoughtful person than Ruoxin though. He’s just more expressive and supportive in their relationship I feel like. He’s done all this stuff for her and I don’t really know what Ruoxin has done for him. Although, I do love Ruoxin’s determination in her own work. I loved that small plot line in this drama. I don’t know what it is though, workplace dramas that have a big plot surrounding the workplace and business are never 10/10 for me. I think I get a little bit bored of the corporate environment.
