The only character that i liked is the grandfather emperor because at least he stayed consistent ATLEAST HE WASNT STUPID. Also fuck the second prince disgusting piece of shit he shouldnt have been the leader of the orphan kids imo because i couldn’t take his character seriously he wasnt even scary!!! The one who was scary was the ACTUAL deposed emperor maybe if he was the leader of the cult it wouldve been better or if it was a normal person trying to gain the throne. When i read the synopses i honestly had such high hopes esp because i love the actors ZYW is one of my favourite out there and tang wei is so so beautiful. The editing was also choppy. Ughhh if only this had a good scriptwriter/director/editor it would be a masterpiece. Just thinking about the idea of this story in the hands of a decent crew makes me so envious of the other universe out there that gets to savour a good version of this.

Zhang yan ze is probably my favourite villain in all Cdrama, that man exudes fearful energy. He was also really sexy but thats just me.

Watching this gives me hope that we can revive epic historical dramas. I watched the story of minglan and empresses in the palace and was thoroughly disappointed that china hasnt produced something like that in a long time.

The characters are all just great. The relationships between them feel REAL. Sometimes I wish the episodes was longer so we could see more interactions between the three main guys, so I can understand their brotherhood more, but even without that i find myself drawn to how they will affect each other and the macrocosmic effect of the war due to their decisions.

Also rip shuiqiu he didn't deserve that 💔 but as much as I hated Hu Junsi he was such a good foil to lord Feng that you have to respect his writing. Also what is the point of sun tai zhen??? She really served nothing to the plot. I don’t even understand why she was on the cover.

They really ruined stories by adding laws around reincarnation. honestly im not suprised they somehow always butcher sequels due to regulations or making the storyline boring i remember i didnt know it was a sad ending and now i always check for endings in any drama because i cant waste 40+ hours of my life just to feel sad.

Ohhh one and only had such a sad ending i heard the leads starred in another drama which was happier (cdrama always do this instead of giving us a proper ending)
