Interesting but slow-burn noir film filled with action

The overall vibe of the film is unique and unfamiliar to me. I saw that this movie falls on the noir genre and seems like it was set on an unknown time/era in a completely made up world.

At first, I feel like there's a lot of potential about this story however as it turns out I didn't like this movie as much as I expected. The story started of very interesting that's why I kept up with it until the end however it only made me confused really. I hoped that there were more back stories about what's happening or additional details that will let me understand why did those things happened. Why are the villains opting to kill the entire village? What was the real relationship between Hong GilDong and Kang SungIl when they were younger? There were a lot more things that I wished I knew in this film which could've helped me appreciate it more.

There were good points on the movie though that I loved like the casts. I love how the characters were portrayed and the 2 little cute girls that tagged along Hong Gil Dong throughout the movie that melt his heart in the end. The concept of moral ambiguity presented on the movie kept me from wondering how things will turn out in the end. But I feel like for most parts, the movie is overall draggy. There were scenes that I felt insignificant on how things finally worked out in the end.

Mostly, these are my opinions after watching the movie. I feel like the plot become too complicated for me to enjoy it. I personally think that if it didn't involve a big conspiracy of some organization and it focused more on whether Hong GilDong will exact his revenge or not, I probably enjoyed it more. Obviously, I wouldn't want to re-watch this movie again but overall I still think it's a good movie. I'm glad I gave it a try. The action scenes will surely keep you on the edge of your seats and the cute girls will surely melt your hearts.

Started of great until it eventually faded

First of all I seriously don't understand why is there a movie series for Whispering Corridors. So far this is the 3rd movie and it still doesn't make sense. Pardon me if I don't get this kind of movie, I might be ignorant about this type of movies so it confuses the hell out of me.

The way the story is introduced is clear - how they have shown the relationship between the leads, what caused the conflict. Up until there I was able to follow and even find it interesting. But after that I just totally get lost. I understand that there will be some sort of revenge but I totally didn't understand why was it executed that way. I didn't get the logic at all as to why this person become involved, why was she doing it, why are things happening, what am I watching? I was hoping it will get clearer towards the end but just like the precedent movies, it just confused me more.

I was happy though to see Song JiHyo's debut movie though. I understand how eye-catching she is in this movie. I am a big Song JiHyo fan and she's the only reason why I started watching the Whispering Corridors movies. Story-wise I still don't get why it's one of the longest running movie series but I am hopeful that it will get better on the next movies.

I personally didn't like it but if you loved the first 2 Whispering Corridors movies or you liked this type of supernatural horror thriller, this might be for you. Also, if you love JiHyo Eonnie like I do, please watch this. She's so cute and lovely on this movie.

Interesting plot with deep lessons

I am not really a fan of J-Dramas. I have watched only few of them so I don't know much about their shows nor they actors but I can definitely say that I'm lucky I've seen this one.

The plot is simple yet interesting. It's not that long too that's why I decided to give it a try. There's nothing so outstanding about the story alone however I really love the message and the overall theme of this series - "looking different on the outside doesn't change what's inside." I just kind of wish there were more depths on their characters because I felt like everything was focused on Umine's life only. There's very little I know about Ayumi, Kaga and Koshiro. I wished that we've known more about the personal demons of other characters and not just being someone who almost had it all and lost it overnight for something supernatural. I get Umine feeling the way she felt but I feel like Ayumi, Kaga and Koshiro was just born that way. They seem like they're just walking on a flowery road. Wouldn't it be better to see them as someone who became they are because they've conquered their own challenges? That's just my own opinion though.

Overall, I really liked this series and I recommend it highly. The life lessons here are so deep that I'm still reflecting about it even after I watched it.

Amazing action scenes and touching fatherly love

The storyline of this movie is something simple and very predictable however I do acknowledge the intricate action scenes on the movie and the expression of fatherly love from the lead to his daughter.

JangHyuk was definitely a great actor and I've watched him from his other dramas and movies. His acting skills is really great but I didn't like this piece as much as his other shows. I fell asleep halfway the movie because there are really lots of boring parts or maybe I'm just really not in the mood for historical setting drama.

Overall, I still appreciate most parts of the movies and I think it's still a great watch considering the acting and the action scenes.

Most consistent plot-wise among all the School series I've watched

3rd Stop on my School series marathon. Same as School 2015, this is my 2nd time watching this series although that was years ago so I don't really remember what happened so as I was watching it's almost the same as watching it for the first time. I feel like the first time I watched it was when I was busy with school works as a stress reliever so I didn't appreciate it as much as I did now. Without further back story here it is.

REVIEW PROPER STARTS HERE. School 2017 wasn't as popular as Who Are You: School 2015. I didn't hear it from someone who strongly recommends it unlike School 2015. However as I re-watched it I realize I probably liked this as much as School 2015 for a slightly different reason. Plot-wise, there's nothing really big or extraordinary on its story. It still follows the common pattern on the School series: a student is a child of the school director, a teacher who really cares about the students but doesn't have much power, someone who's really smart school but is always second and is usually rich, management corruption, bullying, rich kids feeling entitled as always and etc. However I feel like this series is the best in terms of sustaining the excitement from start to finish. I always had that one thing I look forward into every episode. Unlike other School series wherein some episodes felt like they were just fillers. Maybe it's also because the characters in this one is much more interconnected. It doesn't feel like an individual story every time. It's more of like diving into the characters' life while they interact with the other characters which for me added more depth and flavor into it's story.

It's a series full of emotions whether about friendship, family or school. I have laughed and cried throughout the series and there are lots of scenes that I can emotionally relate. The casts definitely contributed in making all those emotions come to life. When I first saw this series, I remember that I don't know any of them. I just found out later that SeJong was from I.O.I and saw JungHyun in Eulachacha Waikiki in around 2020. Maybe that's the reason why I have appreciated them more now. I love the chemistry between them (although I'm already shipping Kim JungHyun and Seo JiHye from CLOY) and also the friendship chemistry among 'Team X' as I personally nicknamed them. Knowing the history of how they became friends made me love them more. The Principal, Kim EungSoo is really annoying until the very end however the character suits him well. I have a love-hate reaction to him. Very fantastic acting for me to curse him really well all throughout the drama but at the same time I cannot imagine him not being part of the story.

Of course, we won't forget the OSTs. For me School 2015's OST is still something really memorable for me however School 2017 also had a lot of really interesting and something that I'd definitely add on my playlist. OST can sometimes make or break a drama and for me it did well for School 2017.

Overall, I highly recommend this drama. If you just really miss school this is a good drama to reminisce your school days.

A very good redeem and reference on A Beauty of Revenge

In here, we see YeoBin, YeongJae and HoTae on a parallel world. This is a very good reference on A Beauty of Revenge. I was pretty disappointed about the ending of A Beauty of Revenge so I'm really glad that in this short film, HoTae is a good person.

YeoBin and YeongJae really looks cute together. My heart is just purely shipping. YeongJae is so cute with his flustered face. The writing is simple yet very purposeful. There's a funny scene, there's a romantic scene and the referencing of A Beauty of Revenge. Even the PPL is so smooth that I find it so funny and cute.

If you have watched A Beauty of Revenge, please watch this. This is the "what could've been that didn't happen' on A Beauty of Revenge.

Started off strong but ended up in a mess

After watching the first episode, I was enthralled and saw that big potential of the story coming ahead. Revenge stories can be cliche but it can be addicting to watch. I was so ready to support the main lead when suddenly unexpected and unnecessary twists came up. For me the story is really intriguing and interesting but the way it turned out is really a complete mess.

I love stories with DID or multiple personality disorders however on this one, I would have preferred if it never existed on the plot. It just brought confusion and makes everything to not make sense. Like how much was the reality and how much was the illusion. I appreciate dramas who makes me think about one thing then will suddenly introduce a different reality from a different perspective. I love that feeling of 'I didn't saw that one coming.' Unfortunately, this title just made me feel like, 'How? How did you ruined the potential of what could've been a good story?'

I feel bad towards the cast. The way they act is very powerful and convincing. It's the first time I have seen them but I already want to see other works from them. It's just unfortunate that they caught up in a kind of not-so good writing.

This is purely my opinion and reaction towards this title. I feel really disappointed because I had high expectations about this. Some of you might still like the story so if you have time, you can check it out to support the casts who did their best. It's just 5 episodes anyway and you can finish it within less than an hour.

Never repay hatred with hatred, it'll never bring peace to mind

This was a damn unexpectedly satisfying movie. I was seriously mind-blown about how this movie turns out. It hit the back of my head like crazy. This is definitely one of the movies that I can say, you can never really tell until it's over. The movie started as stated on the plot and it wasn't even half of the movie so I was thinking, what else could be there to tell. I literally fell asleep during the first 30-minute of the movie and decided to continue watching it after I woke up.

Apparently, there's still much to tell. The plot tells the point of view of the teacher however the latter part dives on the point of view of the students involved. The way they reason out things, the life they had that made them that way. It was very thrilling to see the story from their perspective. From this part it just went from 0 to 100 real quick. Everything became exciting and this movie became one of that movies that I will remember.

One of the biggest contributor for making this a successful movie are the excellent acting of the casts. I was a bit skeptical at first because they were just a bunch of teens and the plot is really dark however the young age actually made the impact even bigger. Kudos to them really. The very dark message of this message is definitely something I'll keep in mind all the time. If you let your negative emotions turn into evil deeds, everything will just turn out evil and chaotic. It will definitely come back to eat you alive.

I don't want to spoil the major KABOOM of this movie so it's better for you to just watch it. Trust me it will get better in the middle. Think of the start as the calm before the storm. I am so glad, I have found this movie.

Definite MUST WATCH school drama. A classic really

At the time of writing, it's my 2nd time watching this drama. To be honest before I re-watched it, I forget most of the little details on this drama as I've first watch this years ago but I know that this is a drama I really wanted to re-watch.

After watching this again, I don't have regrets. This is still one of the greatest drama I have watched so far. I just have a bit of issue on the story upon re-watching it. Let me dive into it. By the way, there might be SPOILERS along this review, so consider yourself warned and stop here if you haven't watched it yet.

The plot is one of the things that caught my eye on this although I mainly watched this because of Kim SoHyun. The concept is quite interesting having this quite mystery among twins wherein one of them has to pretend to be the other twin. It made me curious and excited as to what could possibly happen. Then we are treated with 2 male leads which is unexpected. I didn't know much about JooHyuk and SungJae when I first watched this. I'll add my sentiments about these leads towards the end. What actually amazed me with the plot is the characters of EunBi and EunByeol. We have one character who ignored the one being bullied and ended up miserable because of guilt and another character who saved the one being bullied and ended up as the victim herself.

Aside from the story about the main casts, the drama covered bullying, pressure from helicopter parents, friendship, dreams and all sorts of things happening in school. It's pretty much the same concepts that appeared on School 2013. I feel like the romance and mystery just added a bit flavor on this one. Although this time, I cannot forgive the bully, SoYeong. Other bullies really had terrible upbringing that forced them to be terrible but SoYeong is just a plain brat. She had everything. She has brains, money, parents with power. She just simply knew her privileges and decided that she can get away with anything. I hate her character but not the actress. She did so well as the protagonist for me to hate the character.

Another factor that made me love this drama is the OST. It is truly golden. I had lots of times where I got goosebumps because of the OST. I keep listening to them ever since and I feel like this made up half of the awesomeness on this drama. A lot of scenes will probably look bland without the background music.

So for the spoiler, of course it's about how intense is the second lead syndrome on this drama. I seriously wished that we'll have 2 happy couples here. Ian+EunByeol and TaeKwang+EunBi. Afterall during the first few episodes, we're made to believe that Ian likes EunByeol and EunByeol likes Ian. I can still remember the time when Ian went to the hospital to see EunByeol and said that "If it's your choice to step back, it's my choice to step forward. Fine, we've grown so much and many things changed. So what? It's okay now since you're back, EunByeol." Then it turns out he hugged a different person which is EunBi.

I understand that EunBi fell for Ian. We fall in love not being able to explain why anyway. It's pretty common that we don't fall for that person who's always there silently caring for us. I just feel bad towards TaeKang. I feel like he deserves more than he was credited for.

I imagine what if EunByeol returned to school as herself but brought EunBi with her, I bet TaeKang will still fall for EunBi and Ian will still like EunByeol. I doubt that Ian will pay attention to EunBi at all. In the first place, Ian only interacts with EunBi because he thinks that she's EunByeol. If EunByeol and EunBi is there, there's no way that Ian will develop feelings towards EunBi. Those are just my thoughts anyway. I feel like the ending is decently acceptable. I just can't get over that they could've made 2 couples instead of one.

Must watch comedy heist

Who doesn't love heist movies, right? I can say that this movie is almost on the Hollywood level movie for heists. What's interesting about this is there were lots of comedic scenes throughout the movie. But of course while building a big picture story that makes sense. There's also a twist towards the latter part so watch out for it.

The casts' performance also made this movie fun and great to watch. All of them have unique roles to fill and the chemistry is undeniably good. I really wish that there will be a sequel for this although I am not sure if there were talks about it.

You can watch this on Netflix. It's a good movie to watch on a weekend when you just want to relax.

What a journey for this school drama

9 years after this was aired was the first time I watched this. I actually finished watching School 2015 and 2017 before this. I would say that the plot on this one is not as intriguing as the other School series I have watched but this one sure has almost everything.

From friendship, parenting, being a student or teacher everything's here. I felt like I have witnessed the characters growing up, learning from their mistakes and try to do their best in everything.

I particularly wanted to see Lee JongSuk and Kim WooBin in this drama that's why I watched this but I am surprised because there were a lot more interesting casts that I found here like Jang NaRa, Lee YiKyung, Shin HyeSun and other familiar faces on recent dramas. Most of them I see frequently on other dramas and it's interesting to see their younger faces.

This drama will give you roller coaster ride of emotions from laughing, to crying, to feeling angry, to feeling forgiving and a lot more. No wonder this is considered as a legend during its time.

Hidden gem with a very heartwarming story

I accidentally found this hidden gem while I'm browsing through Netflix. I saw the reviews and it was mostly good so I decided, 'why not give it a try?' So far, it's one of the great decisions that I didn't  regret.

The storyline is definitely interesting specially when the story about the father has been revealed however I do believe that it was the wonderful acting that made this whole movie a success. The father and daughter's  chemistry is so amazing that it's already touching just seeing them together. They really made the character alive which is the reason why the audience will definitely be smitten by this movie.

I really recommend this movie because it's heartwarming and it's really worth the watch. I really love how they portayed good deeds as something that comes around one way or another. Also, prepare to wipe your tears as it will surely make you feel vulnerable  and just want to cry everything  out.

Simple drama yet sent me lots of butterflies in my stomach

Usually, what I would say is that the story is cliché but this drama made me feel otherwise. The story is just basic and simple and this is a common plotline but for me what stood out the most is the way that the story is being portrayed. This reminds me the good old days of 2015 dramas, it's the year when most dramas I've watched is pretty solid.

Before watching this I saw a lot of reviews about the chemistry of both leads which I immediately noticed since the first episode. It looked all real to me. Most of the time I find kissing scene gross but on this drama I really really loved it. Those sweet little peck and kisses between the character sent butterflies to my stomach and reminds me how sweet dating someone you like can be.

It doesn't have much of twists and turns on the story. Just plain scenario of what a normal couple has to overcome. (Although this one is an extraordinary couple which has an entirely different lifestyle) One thing I noticed as well is that there are too many supporting characters that I don't really know why they're included on the story. I mean I kinda hoped they have more story about why they're there. Nonetheless, it's still great.

I really love and appreciate this storyline. I have nothing much to ask for. I recommend this one, I believe that this could be a hidden gem in the KDrama world.

Story that makes sense but the lines are just too greasy

The story about this movie is pretty predictable. There's nothing really extraordinary about this film at all. The story just makes sense but no much impact.

The casts acted decently, nothing outstanding really. The script also made me have goosebumps at least several times during the whole movie duration. The male lead, Joseph Marco is seriously an eye candy and it's obvious they are really trying to sell his abs. They were exaggerating the lines trying to make it into something more but the story itself is lacking. The songs used in the movie is at least better and it's good to the ears.

Overall, I really don't find anything that gives impact to the audience. This is just kind of a movie you would want to watch on days where you want to watch anything even if it's good or bad. I am personally not a fan of our local dramas and movies because I always feel like it's exaggerated all the time without depth on the story or characters and it doesn't feel genuine at all. But you can try this one. It's still a feel good movie anyway.

Meaningful series and great execution although it falls flat towards the end

This series says a lot about education. From the school corruption, the grade ranking competition and also the parents who tries to set their children's future not realizing that it's not really helping them.

The story is actually very interesting and also using the cheerleading as the main theme of the drama makes it unique from other tons of school dramas. As usual, it also have the usual bit of romance to drown the heaviness of the social issues that are being addressed on the series.
