I was actually surprised that it still turned out well even with low budget. not great but still good. even with the green screen scenes it was edited enough that it's not too obvious nor distracting. the voice dubbng too suits the characters (only Fuzhi bothered me a tiny bit because in my imagination from the novel, she would be a bit cooler. but it's okay) A lot changed from the novel and even though I really love the novel, the changes didn't bother me and the story still flowed well. The acting I am very satisfied from main to support to minor characters are all played well.
casual viewers might get confused by the dynamics of the ML and FL. who is playing who? are they they being dumb or are they aware of everything? It's actually the charm of the character designs of the main leads. watch it closely *wink*

it's not in the novel so I have no idea. in the novel he wasn't emperor yet at the start of the story but already ruling over everything. he became official emperor sometime after exams.
It started a bit slow and choppy for me but by ep 5-6 it picked up quickly and now got me hooked! I'm excited for the upcoming episodes.
my wish for Ying Gua's voice actor to have tone similar to CZY is granted I'm happy! from the preview in the next eps the voice acting is also close to the behind the scenes videos so my worries were set aside. I'm really glad.
Also I love the portrayals of my favorite side characters, Shen Zhili, Shen Zhisu, Di Nian, Huang Bo, Gu Qin. They're exactly how I imagined them when reading the novel. many parts of the original story changed but it's okay. the beauty of the novel for me was the designs of the characters especially the ML and FL. Looking forward to see more .

Yes around ep 3-4 . He was a bit skeptical but with what happened between them that time that he found out,, her being a demon would make things make sense so he's inclinded to believe but needs evidence. However he was not fully hostile against her right away because he still sees some"good" or parts her can "trust" with her.
This is so heart warming. It's light and fun but it made me cry so many times. Not the cry of sadness or something heavy but really heart-warming tears. healing. I really love Yuxi in this. She resonated a lot with me here. this has become my favorite drama of hers.
That one scene in the end where LZY was driving the bleeding LSB to the hospital. The contrast of their battle damaged form VS the relaxed and peaceful atmosphere of the people in the streets. It beautifully showed how often the peace we enjoy are because there are unsung heroes who protect us.

it's topping the TV charts and has great rating. it is actually difficult to break 2% rating but they broke it from the first ep and in the second half started breaking 3% peak rating. the drama is top 1 not just daily but also for the third quarter.

When I watched Detective Chinatown and admired Chen Zheyuan's knack for comedy. the way he let himself go for that character impressed me and the twist at the end made me see his character in a new light. Then after that I watched Handsome Siblings and I concluded he has great potential as an actor. This time the comedy and drama were performed in the right degree that Xiao Yuer resonated with me. Now in DNAD, his character creation improved much more that you can see how his past work experience contributed. The different sides of Shaobai were delivered at perfect degree that it never felt too much nor lacking. Just like what he said in an interview, "acting is like cooking. since I had experience, the next time I make it, it will taste better"
