actually it is planned from the beginning that Wu Xie will be entering the plot. Wu Lao Gou named him Wu Xie for him to live innocently BUT not because they don't want him to be involved. They needed Wu Xie to be innocent and "clean" so that the Wang family can trust Wu Xie. Which is why they never tell him anything, because once he knows, the Wang family will never trust him. They chose Wu Xie to be the one to infiltrate the Wang family because Wu Xie is important to the Wang family too (his ability to read the snake pheromones). Wu Xie infiltrating the Wang family is also part of Wu Lao Gou's plan to leave the mess - he knew that it couldn't be done in one generation and hope that Wu Xie will be the last generation in the mess.
Qi Yu is also planned by Wu Lao Gou (and he is Qi Tie Zui's son, part of the 9 Gates, so i don't think he is from Wang family). It is never mentioned in the novel that he looks like Wu Xie, but Wu Xie suspect that they used technology to predict how Wu Xie will look like in the future (since he was a kid at that time) and made Qi Yu wear a Wu Xie mask to trick the Wang family.
Also at that time, the Wang family had many people pretending to be Wu Xie. So you can tell that Wu Xie is important to them too, and Wu Lao Gou knows that, which is why he chose Wu Xie to be the one to infiltrate the Wang family. Wu Xie was never meant to be safe from this mess.

True they trained him to follow qi yu's path. Isnt in too funny? Laogu did everything he could to leave the mystic nine and to stop his own family in continuing the tomb raiding business and deciding that it would be ended in their era thus laogu didn't forced his 1st son (wu xie's father) in acquiring their family business. They even name him as "wu xie" cuz they want him to live as innocent and no evil. Yet because of Qi Yu their dream of making wu xie leave the business is shattered and they changed course and trained him to be him when the time comes

He was actually really hostile and angry at his uncle in the novel. He got lied to and pulled into all those tomb…
I can't comment to the acting and I can't comment to the novel too because i'm not following it. but from this sentence "do you know the pain of not knowing?", i think i can understand his emotion why he's that angry (may be it is just a reason among others).
I like all the actors most Xiao yu ling. He like most secret xiao ge. I love all the Wu xie and Xiao ge?. The relationship between iron traingle is so lovely in this season.
Hua er ye is wise, smart, and good at fighting, he is the same generation with wu xie, but why their adventure together are very little, it's like they each have their own route, i would love to see them adventure together. The author of the lost tomb is really good at creating characters that i love, and the scriptwriter, director and actors makes it becomes much more perfect. I would love to see their adventure together with wu xie as the main with no times limit, i am sad the author made wu xie older in reunion i feel like their young adventure is not enough for me. I get to know that the last novel from the author that go on hiautus is reunion novel, i bet the author doesn't know what he will write anymore, but maybe i could expect more as the lost tomb's fans are so many and it's a treasure that would always attract viewer. I want to see more of the iconic characters wu xie, zhang qi lin, hua er ye, pang zhi, black glasses etc.
This new rating (currently 7.9) is a travesty. This drama is phenomenal and one of the best of 2020, as demonstrated by its high Douban rating. It seems to me that this new rating system is negatively affecting the high quality dramas that deserve more recognition like Winter Begonia and is only working in favor of the crappy ones.

Can someone explain who this xie lian huan person is? I didn't watch the previous seasons
Xie lianhuan is somehow related to sanxing. During their underwater expedition (20 years before the lost tomb event happened) together with Wen jing, qiling and other descendants of mystic nine. Lianhuan and sanxing had a fight when they sneak out from the team at night and went into underwater tomb not knowing that the spy sent by "it" followed them there. This spy was sent by it to kill sanxing and disguised as him, but he was killed instead in that tomb. And since then lianhuan disguised as sanxing while Wu xie's real 3rd uncle is moving in the dark. Xie lianhuan is jiuye's descendant
