ohhh my god!!! thank you so much for this !! I just came to the comment section just after watching that scene…
To me, worse than the 2ML sticking like glue and the FL not reacting is the 2FL that is delusional/bordering on psychotic, willing to do anything to get the ML and he tolerates it. This seems to happen more in Chinese dramas, and it drives me crazy!!
So, was it a happy ending and did they end up together? I won't ask about chemistry between the leads, because opinions seem to be all over the map on this subject.
Does that mean it will be on Hulu in the US? Other shows listed as being on Disney+ are reportedly on Hulu (I will NOT pay for another streaming service!), not Disney+...why?
Thank you , please do tell me if you know any other k-drama similar to this. Good day, or good night wherever…
I'll start by saying I don't tend to like shows with a lot of angst, or a lot of bullying. I tend to not like historical dramas (don't get me started on the costumes!). Here is a list of some of my favorites. Some of these a lot of people HATED, so I'd just say give them a try and dump them if you don't like them. I don't know how to link to the show, so you'll need to look them up, sorry. 1% of Something (contract relationship) 30 but 17 (woman is in a coma for years. This could have gone wrong, but was just wonderful. Plus, the guy from Business Proposal is the teenage brother - this was the first thing I'd seen him in and he's just a cutie.) Clean with Passion for Now (boss/employee. He has OCD) Crash Landing on You (it has everything, comedy, drama, mystery, love) Crazy Love (Boss/employee, enemies [to the extreme!] to lovers. It's over the top at the beginning but then settles down. Dali and the Cocky Prince (boss/employee. They are so cute I smiled through it) Falling for Innocence (boss/employee. The poster looks slapstick but it's not) Her Private Life (boss/employee. I didn't like the first couple of episodes) Ho Goo's Love (sweetness on steroids) High School King of Savvy (fake boss/employee. A lot of people hated it, I really liked it, but I like Seo In Guk in general, so there's that) King the Land (boss/employee. I've rewatched this multiple times. I didn't care for the FL actress' acting, but watching him try to date was cute) My Roommate is a Gumiho (cohabitating. I smiled a lot watching this one) Oh My Venus (okay, at the beginning is seems like fat shaming, but if you can get past that, the friendships, the couple were wonderful. One of the best proposals ever) Sh**ting Stars (kind of boss/employee. I can't even TELL you how many times I've rewatched this. The ML is so funny, he's got great comedic timing.) Strong Woman Do Bong Soon (boss/employee. Loved the couple so much. Didn't care for the slapstick humor and I hate when the FL cries - in any show she's in - it is so bad that I want to laugh) Legend of the Blue Sea (cohabitating/fantasy. I'll be honest. I hated it with a passion the first time I tried to watch it. Once I tried again, I loved it. Progressive revealing of things in each episode, and a wonderful, long, happy ending) The Secret Live of My Secretary (boss/employee. The secret identity went on longer than I would have liked, but a darling couple, nice happy ending) Touch Your Heart (boss/employee. I wasn't too sure until episode 3, then I was hooked. As normally happens in K-dramas, rushed ending) True Beauty (high school and beyond. I thought this show was so funny. I had some SLS, and I loved the relationship between the FL and 2ML - funny!) Twinkling Watermelon (time travel/student life. I wasn't totally happy with the romance - the guy stayed too enamored with someone else for too long - but the friendships were amazing. Excellent acting all the way around, though the 2FL here is the 2FL from Business Proposal, so I kept flashing to that) Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo (college classmates. This is one I revisit periodically. I love the friendships and the mains as a couple. What's Wrong With Secretary Kim (boss/employee. I know a lot of people didn't like this but I thought it was so funny.)
I've tried a lot of Chinese dramas and struggle with them for multiple reasons - the dubbing, OH MY GOSH, it seems like every woman has a high screechy, squeaky voice. Even an AI voice would be better. I also struggle with the fact that they are so long and there is so much wasted time in them. A good editor would not go amiss. That said, there are a few that I actually really loved: Hidden Love - I struggled at the beginning, but what a cute couple. My Little Happiness - man loves woman first, neighbors, co-workers. We get to see a good progression of their relationship. Hi Venus - I almost gave up on this but was glad that I stuck with it.
I didn't fully understand your review (language difference perhaps), but I like a person that speaks with conviction. I've only watched episode 1 and I'm already wondering how much I'm going to have to suspend disbelief.
How did you watch the whole thing when MDL shows that only six episodes have been released? Have you watched her in Hidden Love? I liked her character there.
What a great review. Thank you. I've just finished episode one and was disappointed that virtually no time was spent for us to see how she survived on the island. And you are absolutely right about preserving her voice. A singing voice is something that, if you don't use it, you lose it. I came here for Park Eun Bin, so I may need to suspend quite a bit of disbelief in certain aspects of the drama. I'll be sad if we don't get flashbacks, the young actors were terrific.
I liked your review. I am not into revenge dramas, nor melodrama, but I'm going to watch this one soon. However, I would just say that if you don't care what others thought about a show, especially if they didn't like it, just don't read their review. I review things mostly for myself, because my memory is so bad. I want to be able to go back and see why I did or didn't like something. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind, nor spoil it for them, or tell them not to watch something.
